Submitted by Mike a Weekend Warrior from Lyndhurst, NJ, USA
Date Reviewed: November 14, 2004
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $399.00
Purchased At:Brookdale Cycle
Strengths:Sturdy design and construction. Not too expensive. Disk breaks. Designed in USA.
Weaknesses:A bit heavy at 33 lbs. Stock tires were terrible (Hutchinsson Mosquito). Some ugly welds. Made in Taiwan.
Bike Setup:Stock except for straight Azonic handle bars (nothing wrong with the True Tech bars), and Panaracer Fire XC tires.
Bottom Line:I purchased this bike with minimal research after many years of not riding and have used it mainly for street riding and commuting with a little trail riding. I've had very little trouble with it other than what was related to the crappy tires it came with. I've taken a few falls with it and it's always come out at least as good as I have, nothing coming loose or bent. Handles moderate trails well. I think this bike has fairly decent componentry for the price, the disc brakes work real well, and the derailleurs which are probably the weakest of the setup haven't been a issue.
This is a pretty good bike for the price, there may be a few in the price range that are a better value, but overall it would rank fairly well on value.
This bike has held up well under moderate use and abuse without an major difficulties. Ok bike for someone on a budget who won't be needin' ta get 30 meters of air under them.
