Love the brick pedals there real grippy and I haven't slipped a pedal yet. | | Weaknesses: | The back derailer sucks and the spring popped out in the first couple of months but thanks to Freewheeler bike shop I have a brand new derailer that is of higher quality, so the bike rides fin now. $400.00 | | Purchased At: | bispham bikes | | Strengths: | the frame is strong although it is a little heavy and you can definately feel the pull on it when in the air. i was shocked at how good the brakes actually were because i was originally going to switch to disk but i stuck with the stock ones and they've been no problem. i wasn't too impressed with the standard spokes but they allowed me to do whatever i needed on the bike so that was good enough. | | Weaknesses: | the gears shift a little slow and this can be a flustration. | | Similar Products Used: | diamondback bmx | | Bottom Line: | a good bike, well worth the money. the bike causes little problems and is a strong and well built product however if you want to do some more intense biking, it would be wise to upgrade most of the stock parts. This would also help to lighten it a little (for example the pedals weigh a tonne! and the single front suspension doesn't give much release- new ones of these could give the bike a better balance when finishing jumps or suchlike) | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Mines at 2007 model, so the forks not bad. | | Weaknesses: | Too heavy stock, don't expect much until you upgrade components. All the weights in the wheels, stem, pedals and bar. | | Similar Products Used: | BMX style bikes. I normally ride full suspension. | | Bike Setup: | Stock FSA crank w/ Race Face 32t aluminum ring. Sun Ditch-Witch wheels w/Deore hubs and 2.35 Stock Kenda block 8's. Shimano hydraulic brakes, Titac Hell-Bent bar w/Truvativ DH stem. Drive Magnesium platform pedals. | | Bottom Line: | After I bought this bike I was so disappointed with the feel (weight). Since it was an online order, a return wasn't an option so I took the whole bike apart to find where the weight was. The stock pedals are beasts (over 800g),the calipers (+/- 500g), the bar is steel and the stem a brick, the wheels where "ok" and for the weight weenies, has a steel chainring instead of aluminum.
After changing all the above with my current setup, the bikes about 30lbs and very agile, easy to move around. With selling my stock parts and Ebay, I still paid less than other DJ's out there and IMO have a better bike for the buck.
Get this bike if you can put some money into it, great frame and good starter setup. Five Chilis for price, 3 for weight.

$450.00 | | Purchased At: | Pauls Cycles | | Strengths: | The frame is super strong and has real neat gussets round the head tube. It also has horizontal dropouts and built in tensioners so running single speed is a dream. The wheels are of decent quality and mine have only got a minor buckle, even after landing a diagonally from 5 foot up! The forks which came on mine (Marzocchi MZ Comp) are quite good and havent bottomed out once yet, although after coming off a 6 foot double the steerer tube is bent slightly. The stock setup is awesome and if you're into dirt jumping or street then this bike rules. | | Weaknesses: | The only real weakness is the forks which are built for cross country riding arent very strong. But since the bike is so cheap compared to others in its field, there is plenty of room for improvment. Also the grips give you no end of blisters. | | Bike Setup: | Marzocchi DJ3's and some DMR Zip Grips. | | Bottom Line: | This bike is built to take a battering. The box sections on the chainstays are beefy to say the least and the bike is nimble when riding. This bike is a greaat all rounder and is greaat for people on a tight budget. Although if you hae the spare cash then upgrade the forks asap! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$100.00 | | Purchased At: | My mates | | Strengths: | Bombproof frame, nothing can damage it. Rims are pretty good too, fork is good for a budget i would upgrade though. If you tighten the brakes they are better than the lower price Magura ones-well i think so!!! | | Weaknesses: | Gears are shoddy and the shifts are way too slow. V-Brakes suffer a bit in the wet but if tightened they rock. | | Similar Products Used: | Diamondback M40 | | Bike Setup: | I run the basic spec but i fitted a Hnager Banger and changed the derailleur. I have fitted Hope discs now but the I ran the Promax ones before. | | Bottom Line: | The bike is great, it handles well, the brakes offer decent stopping power and the frame can take anything. from Malmö, Sweden Date Reviewed: October 2, 2005 | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Price Paid: |
$400.00 | | Purchased At: | Cykelringen | | Strengths: | There´s nothing wrong with the frame, a bit on the heavy side but that comes with this type of construction. Gears are good. No problem with pedals and crank (saw someone else writing that the pedals were plastic, mine are definately aluminium). Frame has chain tensioner so you can modify it into a single speed if you wish to. NOTE, buy the extra small frame (14"), if you´re not very tall. I´m average length and the small (17") turned out to be way too big for me to really maneuver while jumping. It ended up with me having to buy another one since the bike shop didn´t allow for bike returns after use (obviously). So go for XS (it also looks ALOT more mean)! | | Weaknesses: | The fork isn´t much fun and the general feel will be really improved with changing to something a bit more serious. Shifters and breaks are low-end but they do their job. Do some gradual upgrading and you won´t totally ruin yourself. | | Similar Products Used: | I´ve had a ton of different MTB´s and BMX´s. | | Bike Setup: | Just ordered a Dirt Jam Pro fork and Hayes disc brakes. All else is stock. | | Bottom Line: | Obviously depending on your demands but I really think that this is a solid first buy for someone who´s interested in starting out with dirt jumping/freeriding.
Some parts might need to be replaced along the way but the initial cost isn´t that high either. Frame will last forever so you can keep building around that.
For what I paid the price was low enough just to buy it for building something else with it or just use it as a resource for spares.
Someone wrote something about it being a bad cross country bike, but that´s NOT what this is meant to be either. If you´re planning on doing 40 miles a day on your bike then get something else (I´ve easily done 20 but it is a bit heavy and the gears are low). This is a tank, not a smooth hybrid or anything but that´s also it´s strength and beauty.
Have fun! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Strong components. Good brakes. Nice forks. Good Geometry | | Weaknesses: | Double chainring in the front, dont like it. Forks make strange topping out noise on manuals and when i pull up the front, but you get used to it. Bad colour (olive green). Stupid tyres for a dj//urban bike, kenda downhill tyres. | | Similar Products Used: | Avanti Hotdog | | Bike Setup: | Stock. | | Bottom Line: | Nice bike, the strengths definately outweigh the weaknesses, the brakes are a little fiddly to get set up well but other than that, its good.
