With 6.5 inches of rear axle travel and a heavily-fortified monocoque chassis, Khyber screams its intent – this all-mountain Mongoose is ready to kick ass. Named after Whistler’s epic Khyber Pass, the Khyber was designed as an “up/down” bike. With an efficient FreeDrive suspension system and a heavy-duty frame, the Khybers are almost as much fun going up as it is coming back down.
Both Khybers are spec’d with Marzocchi air suspension, SRAM two-ring drivetrains and thru-axle forks.

Strengths:
This Mongoose comes stock with great components: The Marzocchi 55 ATA Micro fork and the Marzocchi ROCO Air R which allow for almost 7" of travel, both with lock-outs. This suspension set up is awesome for both climbs and descents. The new Shimano SLX crank and 18 speed SRAM freewheel cassette work flawlessly together. I have to say this bike rocks right of the show room floor.
Weaknesses:
None to report.... although some people don't care for the name Mongoose.
Similar Products Used:
Kona Dawg, Jamis Dakar XAM II, Giant Reign XO, Iron Horse 6 Point 6, Transition Dirtbag, or for the extremely well off there's the Specialized SX Trail II ($$$$).
Bike Setup:
Impressively bone stock
Bottom Line:
If your looking for a bike that will pretty much do it all, I am pleased to report this bike is a monster on the trails. Absolutely devouring any obstacle it faces up or down hill. The 09' Khyber Super is and all mountain predator! I have never ridden a bike with so much travel that climbs so well...

Strengths:
Unbelievably light for how big the travel is. Smooth. Great Geometry. Amazing Bike for the price. Feels like an xc bike when you are climbing yet feels like a dh bike when haulin down rock gardens
Weaknesses:
Main pivot bolt bends pretty easily but its an easy fix. other than that absolutely nothing oh and this bike is technically an all mountain bike (though its on the big side) so its suppose to be able to climb hills as well as chew them up on the way down, but because the headtube angle is so big you really have to lean forward to keep the front tire down and stable when climbing steep inclines no big deal though
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
Rock Shox Lyric, Sram XO shifters and rear deraileur, Race Face Next SL Carbon crankset, sram pg990 cassette, Sun Ringle Charger Wheels, Funn Full On Handlebar, Crankbrothers Acid 3 pedals
Bottom Line:
This bike performs flawlessly. No other bike comparable even comes close in price, this bike in any other comparible brand would be around $5000. Mongoose may not be the most popular name but it will outperform almost any comparible bike on the market. Specialized, Iron horse, Norco you name all have nothin on this bike. one last thought i have this bike down to 32 lbs take a look at any other 6.5" travel bike it will shock you on how much it weighs. this is one of the lightest yet strongest big all mountain/small freeride bikes you will ever find.

Strengths:
everything,so far this bike kicks butt, the suspension is smooth and adjustable climbs with ease and descends like a downhill race bike, strong and solid frame, relatively light at 34 pounds for such a burly bike set up
Weaknesses:
34 pounds its no xc racer which is still not a big deal
If you are looking for a all mountain/freeride bike that will take you to the top of any mountain and bring you down really fast with alot of control this is the bike for you......I will update when I get more rides in

I've had the bike no more than 3 weeks and have had very few downhill runs with it, however the rides i have been on were fantastic the bike handles like a wet dream and climbs like mtn goat also feels nice in the air. I will be giving more feedback after a few more rides.
