$400.00 | | Purchased At: | Dick's Sporting Good | | Strengths: | Strong, very adjustable all around, smooth shifter. I personally find the rear shock adjustment to suit my needs and more, great bike to lend as well. | | Weaknesses: | A little heavy with the full suspension. Personally would have liked more of a comfort saddle, which I added later. My rides tax my tailbone. | | Similar Products Used: | Diamondback Voyager; Trek; Schwinn. | | Bike Setup: | Factory; tuned very season; added just rear kickstand and seatpost mini-bag and changed seat to Avenir Comfort model. | | Bottom Line: | Excellent bike, so lucky to have bought it on end-of-season sale, holding up extremely well. Have recommend it to others often; have lent it out often, always comes back great, and easy re-adjustment settings. The newer models (mine is a 1999!) are lighter, new components, and if they've kept up near this quality, I say go ahead to the weekend warrior and amateur-towards-serious-rider crowd. Longest cross-country, for me, was a wonderful 43-miler across hills; great bike, and the low rise bar (27.5 in) makes it a good choice for almost anyone. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$500.00 | | Purchased At: | Frame bought and bike built around it | | Strengths: | Quite light for the money. Seems to last. Very good entry level full suss. | | Weaknesses: | It's age now. | | Similar Products Used: | Mostly hardtails. | | Bike Setup: | Suntour 100mm forks, Alivio Transmission, | | Bottom Line: | I bought the frame at the end of 2006 and built the bike up as a first build. Tried to keep it as close to the original spec as possible. I might be biased but for it's age this bike seems to ride very well. Good entry level bike that enhances your riding skills rather than doing all the work for you. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

BUT HAD INVESTED A FEW HUNDRED DOLARS INTO IT CONSIDERING IT WAS A HAND ME DOWN FROM MY BROTHER. | | Bottom Line: | I LOVE IT WE ATE DIRT TOGETHER BUT WE SEEM TO GET BACK UP WITH MINER INJURIES. I'VE SEEN MONGOOSE LATEST PRODUCTS AND I THINK THERE SELL OUT AND TARGETING MORE OF THE LOWER END PRODUCTS WITH HUFFY AND NEXT. I THINK I EVEN SEEN MONGOOSE AT WALMART. SAD BUT TRUE I'M JUST GLAD I HAVE ONE OF THERE FINER PRODUCTS. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
