from Vancouver, BC Date Reviewed: June 3, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Eagle Bluff | | Duration Product Used: | more than 3 years | | Strengths: | Bombproof, stable at all speeds. | | Weaknesses: | Heavy as a tank. So old it farts dust. | | Similar Products Used: | nothing even compares | | Bike Setup: | hardtail, hardfork, old but rock-solid shimano stuff | | Bottom Line: | I have had this thing for 13 years and it's taken some harsh thrashings without any complaints. Recently it died after keeping up with and sometimes passing (some)hardcore riders on hardtails or full suspension deals on North Shore . The bike was never meant for that kind of abuse. The right chainstay cracked halfway through at the cross brace behind the BB. The fork bent at the head tube too. This bike was the best bang for buck value ever in all of mountain biking history. Over the years replaced chain 3 times, rear derailleur once, complete rear wheel once, grips a few times, tires a few times, a million brake pads, cables. Looking to replace it with a Kona Muni mula or similar and do some serious riding/rec. racing. Thought some veterans of the sport would be amused by this review. | Overall Rating: |
