Favorite Trail:Cape Cod Rail Trail
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $230.00
Purchased At:Dick's Sporting Goods
Strengths:Pretty strong frame and parts. Relatively light weight, good bike for its price.
Weaknesses:For what most riders would use it for, this bike has no significant weaknesses. All parts on the bike still work perfectly after 3 years, and nothing has ever broken.
Bike Setup:completely stock
Bottom Line:Great bike for the money. My bike has been through a lot, from riding around the neighborhood to riding up to 26 miles at a time. Last summer, I used to bike on a trail at Cape Cod, MA. It was only 7 miles, but the trail went through the sand dunes of Cape Code with no trouble...even through hill after hill. The path was paved though.
This bike has served me well and should give no one any trouble as long as its taken care of and not abused or pushed past its limits.
Any entry level mountain biker should look into this. It has a relatively low price, and is a very strong bike. Definitely a great value.

Favorite Trail:Leukens
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:Bicycle Station
Strengths:Chromoly tubed frame, LIFETIME WARRANTEE on frame.
Mongoose seat is good.
Weaknesses:Parts--wheels, tires, GRIPSHIFT, rear derailleur, brakes and levers.
Suntour crankset and Suntour suspension fork.
Similar Products Used:chromoly bikes with 1" headtubes
Bike Setup:Ideal SETUP---LX Brakes and levers, Deore crankset, LX shifters and derailleurs, better fork and handlebar=$300...I am broke so I must wait.
Bottom Line:Chromolly is still KING! You can take small jumps and XC it to death and nothing will happen to this bike. I've always trusted chromolly frames and the welds because they seem to last longer. Rain may rust the frames but they still outlast aluminum if youre an avid rider. I've had MONGOOSE bikes since my youth(and Schwinn) so I give this entry level bike a good grade due to its dependability.

Favorite Trail:Too many to list, NZ/Wellington MTB rocks...
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $100.00
Purchased At:Second hand
Strengths:Cheap and reliable, keeps on going. Low maintainence. V-brakes (pretty much standard though now...)
Weaknesses:Heavy, grip shifters, no shocks, components.
Similar Products Used:Couple of similar basic Marins, Gts etc.
Bike Setup:Stock with cheap bar ends.
Bottom Line:Basic, entry level bike. Does the job nicely for someone starting out who doesn't want to spend up large on something that might end up 6 months down the track sitting in the garage. Won't cut it if you start getting a bit more serious though, components and frame aren't that flash and the stock set-up is pretty heavy. If you want something to upgrade/ride hard this bike isn't really it. Overall, a good basic entry level bike that would be suited for someone starting out in the sport who wants to be able to go off-road but nothing too strenuous.

Favorite Trail:powerlines
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Great beginner level mountain bike. I havent had any trouble with it, right now I am awaiting the arriveal of a front shock fork (Rock Shox Jett) I think its a great bike for the money.
Weaknesses:No suspension.
Similar Products Used:Crappy Wal*Mart special
Bike Setup:Stock, except for to-be-installed supension fork.
Bottom Line:Great deal for the money! Good for some off-road and then a ride to the store to buy more band-aids (in my case, that is)

Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
Low Weight, Solid Frame, Riding Position, Strong Brakes
Weaknesses:
No Suspension
Similar Products Used:
none
Bike Setup:
stock
Bottom Line:This is a excellent beginner off road bike/ all purpose bike. The bike gives you confidence to take on any obstacle. I did a 30 mile endurance ride with on Saturday and some Serious off road downhilling with it on Sunday. For the cost of this bike you can not go wrong. I purchased mine for $195 and for another $195 you can invest in a good fork suspension system.

Favorite Trail:
Zorro Trails
Duration Product Used:
3 months
Strengths:
An economical bike with good components. For light work, it does the job well. Sure, its not ultra-expensive, but so what? Its just as good as bikes that cost 4 times as much!
Weaknesses:
its not a cannondale like all the yuppies have. Its just as good though!
Similar Products Used:
N/A
Bike Setup:
Stock Materials
Bottom Line:Excellent Bike for not breaking the bank. Hey, if it ever breaks, its still cheaper to repair than to buy a cannondale or something professional!
