Bottom Line:
Just out of the box this bike will obviously be a great performer. It is well suited for someone not willing to go to the different feel of a full blown FS but can appreciate the comfort advantage of nominal rear travel. It feels fast as any hard-tail up and down and way smooth. My size(20")came off at 24.5 lb but with some revisions will be a scant under 24. Two criticisms though- The brake set was mis-shipped. Instead of the claimed spec Avid Arch Rival 50s I got instead cheezy Deore calipers and equally cheese low end Avid levers. Also the matching tolerences between Mongoose and Stratos resulted in a .040 gap in the rear shock bushing. The cracking noise with it is disturbing. I have contacted Mongoose and they seem on top of it but I will probably receive some precision ground SS washers via third party to take up the slack in the mean time. My dealer is making good on the brakes. More in a few months after I have migrated to the Sedona winter grounds and some thorough "testing".
