$2750.00 | | Strengths: | This bike is light and good value. It is also one of the best pedaling downhill bikes that i have ridden | | Weaknesses: | It craked at the headtube and looks likes it is about too at the swing arm. I have hardly ridden this bike and it started to crack after three mounths what a joke.
Donsnt have the claimed amount of travel just over 6 not 7 as claimed and it dosnt feel that plush either. It is not the most active four bar under braking either.
The head angle is too steep, wheel base is too short and the top tube is too short as well. This makes a bike that is very unstable at speed and not somthing you want on downhill bike | | Similar Products Used: | craftworks motolink(owned) and dhrs, older mongoose NX 9.7, avanti D8, cortina DH 8 and lot of hardtails | | Bike Setup: | Standard apart from azonic stem and Roox chain guide | | Bottom Line: | By this bike for the parts and not for the bike. The frame is not very strong and durable. I am not a hard rider and i have not done any drops over 6 foot. A downhill bike should last longer than this.
This bike is the worst handling downhill bike i have ridden. I have ridden slalmon bikes that feel more stable at speed. The bike is good for pedaly track and that about all. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from sa Date Reviewed: June 6, 2001 | | Duration Product Used: | Tested or demo'ed only | | Bottom Line: | Dude don't know what the heck he's talkin about, just had to give the NX DH some props. He got the cheap stuff they sell at K-mart and thinks it's an NX DH. Yo man, an NX DH goes for about 3k, that DH-40R goes for about 300, a big BIG BIG BIG difference, you can't compare it like that. KNow your bike and shut your mouth. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Peru, IN, USA Date Reviewed: April 12, 2000 | | Favorite Trail: | trail #8 at Tippecanoe River State Park | | Duration Product Used: | 3 months | | Strengths: | The price can't be beat. The Mongoose is affordable and a good quality all around bike. The adjustable suspension is very helpful when going from trail to asphalt. The grip shift is quick and responsive. When you don't have a lot of money to spend on a bike, but want a quality product, see your Mongoose dealer. | | Weaknesses: | The grips aren't the most comfortable after long rides. I ended up buying some riding gloves. The pedals are cheap plastic. The seat had to be replaced with something less hard. | | Similar Products Used: | Giant, Trek, and Schwinn | | Bike Setup: | Model NX DH-40R. Full suspension. Shimano grip shift and derailleurs. | | Bottom Line: | Wonderful product for the penny pinching!!! Highly recommended. Relatively lightweight design makes for a comfortable ride on or off road. A good bike for beginning enthusiasts. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
