i have done some serious riding on this bike and it has taken me 4500kms and i have finally cracked the frame{at THREDBO AUSRALIA downhill track}but it was its 2nd visit there guess its not realy good for down hill

You can not go wrong with this bike! Easily upgradable, strong and dependable... what more could one ask for.?.? Great for the beginer or the skillful expert.

Upgraded to LX drivetrain - prob'ly cut two lubs off the bike's weight with the cranks alone.
Bottom Line:
First off, the bike pictured above is the SX 6.7, which is the one I own - kind of confusing if people expect to see a review of an NX 6.7 (don't even know if there is such a model). Anyway, the SX 6.7 is a quality, full-suspension MTB for under 700 duckets. Don't confuse it with the so-called "Mongoose" MGX FS junker (which itself is realistically not that bad if you don't expect too much from it) that you can find in the dreaded Wal-Mart for 200 dollars, it ain't the same. The SX 6.7 comes with genuine (if low-end) Shimano parts (Alivio, etc.), and others from companies you've at least heard of (RST, Velo, SunTour, etc.). Sure, it's not XTR, but what do you expect for $679? The frame is quality (check out the welds), strong and upgradeable, and the weight's come down to a reasonable level with a few parts changes (Hollowtech cranks, for example). I find the F and R suspension to be stiff, but I don't like a soft ride, so no complaints there. This is a great FS entry-level, upgradeable bike, simple as that. I haven't had problem one with it. Upgrading components as I see fit...
I think the people that come here (or go anywhere) and bash Mongoose products are either snobs that wouldn't be caught dead on the trail on a sub-2000 dollar bike, or purists, mad for some reason because Mongoose decided to (heaven forbid!) break into the low-low end Wal-Mart market with a few low-priced models. This is a traitorous act against the biking community? The people that buy bikes in Wal-Mart will NEVER go to a bike shop and NEVER spend 1000 dollars or more on a bike (hell, I get shocked looks when I tell people I spent 700 dollars on my bike!). Gimme a break...reality check time. 5 for value, 4 for overall qual.

Bottom Line:
A little heavy but good setup for a heavier rider (what's a couple of pounds to a big guy?). No bounce; rear spring adjustable for us big guys and the pivot transfers the tire travel to the shock in a near straight line. Get some good tires and keep the Kenda's for hardpack. Handlebar angle and bad grips make my hands numb. Going with a straight bar. Worth the $500 price tag.

The tyres really is not good, you'll loose traction if you lean to far into a corner.. Handgrips(they are as hard as the handle bars and really thin, should have left them off..) handlebars are a bit wide, finish on the rims is poor...

An excellent entry level full suspension bike for those who love recrational riding, not racing. This bike is really good value, the frame is solid and the gears work pretty good for entry level, I don't think you could go past it for the money....

Bottom Line:
I like the bike. I have replaced the stock saddle with a specialized body geometry and the tires with a set of Topo knobbies. I tried a Answer Spyder fork but it bottomed out to easily. So for now the RST 281 stays on. I plan to upgrade the wheel to a shimano/mavic combination and eventually add TruVantiv components. I'm not a racer and this is my first bike, however I generally ride every day and the bike holds up fine. For the price, it's a great entry level bike.

Good frame, very upgadeable, upgrade after things break, probably the first day riding, lot of things broken and will brake some more eventually, surprised that the frame hasn't broken in half, probably will eventually. This bike is not good

Silver brushed finish is cool. Rear suspension doesn't make that bounce effect when hammering on the pedals.
Weaknesses:
Front shock and level of components could be better. Price is high considering the components used on it.
Bottom Line:
Not a bad bike for a recreational user like me. Suits my needs just fine, eventhough I did replace the front shock and a few other things before taking it out of the store. Probably could have spent the extra doh on a different bike with better components. The rear suspension soaks up drop offs pretty well for my weight 185 lbs. 4 chilis for now, we'll see how it does after some more riding. -1 chili for the price and front shock.
