Date Reviewed: September 7, 2004
Favorite Trail:ALL
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $135.00
Purchased At:ToysRUs
Strengths:Frame seems to be very sturdy and the welds are beautiful. Long frame and great for long rides
Weaknesses:AlexRims MX 22 that comes with the bike is a lower end rim but better quality than the OTHERS.
Similar Products Used:Bought bike from ToysRUs and they had them discounted 50% off $270 ......... we paid $135 and out of all the bikes they had this was the best deal going. We originally planned on buying a cheap bike for our 7 year old to just start off but we plain got lucky and very happy with our purchase.
Bike Setup:Came with everything except the helmet and we did manage to get the Mongoose Combo pack9flat black skater type helmet and knee and elbow pads)for $20 ........
Bottom Line:I guess we got lucky and I didn't realize what this bike really cost until I searched the internet. I know Mongoose isn't really popular with the hardcore riders but the first timers like my 7 year old it better than the department brand bikes for the same price. We are so glad we were there at the right time and place. Toys R Us is no longer carrying this bike because I believe the price they were asking for noone was willing to pay that kind of price at a Toy Store. BTW my kid has taken the bike at a local skate park and dumped it a few times and so far it's held up pretty well. Great bike!
