This is the tire you can count on when conditions are especially demanding. Strong and very light, the Michelin XCR Mud combines the grip of a racing tire with outstanding durability, thanks to its aggressive construction. Its knob pattern and Dual Compound technology provide both excellent traction and effective mud evacuation.

Strengths:
Very Good Grip, Low Rolling Resistance, Works Well On Hardpack Too
Weaknesses:
NONE
Similar Products Used:
Other Bontrager Tires that have proven to be garbage.
Bike Setup:
I'm 6'9' and not too many bikes are large enough for me except the TREK 4300, but I am building it up to a higher quality bike. Avid BB7 brakes, Azonic Outlaw Disc Wheels, obviously these tires.
Bottom Line:
Don't waste your money on cheaper tires. Go ahead and step up to these tires and get more performance. I recommend these to all off-road riders.

Strengths:
low rolling resistance, god grip, high priced.
Weaknesses:
wears perhaps a bit fast than some mid quality tyres.
Similar Products Used:
Schwalbe Fat Albert, Racing Ralph, Smart Sam, many older tyres, Ritchey, Conti e.g.
Bike Setup:
TREK 9900 OCLV 1996
Bottom Line:
I like this tyre. Resistance is about equal to Racing Ralps, grip in deep conditions much better. Wears rather fast if moved aggressively, but who cares when the tyres is really good. The right choice in tyres is about the most important topic in MTBiking. This is one.

Strengths:
Traction and control, on all surfaces, not only on mud. Very confidence inspiring on down hills. Plenty of traction, no matter how steep it gets. Low rolling resistance. Relatively light weight (560gr). My weight: 68 kg. I use them with apr. 2,2 Bar.
Weaknesses:
Dual compound is developed for racing. It means it doesn't last to long if you use it for all purpose.
Similar Products Used:
Michelin XL-S: the 'old' XRC Mud: same tire, more durable, higher rolling resistance, lasted longer. Continental Escape. Fine tire, but weak.
Great light allrounder: traction and control under all circumstances, on all surfaces. Especially the rear tire wears fast on rocky down hills with gravel and loose stones, it lasted about one season. That's the price you pay for Dual (race) Compound, but it's worth it, if you can afford it. Front tire still looks new. Because it wears fast: 4 chilli's.

Strengths:
Mud, grass, hardpack, hard/loose over hardpack.
Weaknesses:
sand, gravel, hard fast turns
Bike Setup:
brodie force (hard tail trailbike)
Bottom Line:
loved the tires in long flowing singeltrack, worked well in tight trails too, but in mud they were amazing. i do race in local series and did a few 8hours and these tires are great for them. they are great for the mud climbs and decents but if you try to slam a u turn then they dont work to well. also prepare to eat any sand that you try to go over, they violently slip when confronted with the stuff so stick to what it was intended for, the mud. People confronted with mud on a frequent basis should look for these, people looking for more of a downhill/fast turning tire in tight spots, get a different one.
