Bottom Line:
Great tyre, expensive, but if your racing, its well worth it. Excellent cornering traction and low rolling resistance. The only setback would be the quick wearing of the tyre, but as it is a dual compound, it is therefore expected. Perfect for a race tyre.

Strengths:
Light, fast, low-profile tread that also hooks up great in the corners on dry, dusty singletrack.
Weaknesses:
None yet. I've had problems with Michelin sidewall failure before so am keeping an eye out. Probably will wear quickly as a rear tire. Don't use in mud.

I'm very impressed with the performance of this tire in its intended conditions, which is spelled out pretty clearly: XCR (crosscountry race) Dry [2] (the 2 means sqared, or very much so). The tire has very low rolling resistance, yet I couldn't get it to break or washout on very fast, technical, dusty cornering during a race where I used this as a front tire. I'll have to highly recommend it for such conditions, with the caveat that I'm wary of Michelin sidewalls. I also got it on sale, thus the value rating in my case.

There are no stenghths near this tire it TOTALLY sucks!!!!!

The grips wear of 2 fast, its sidewalls is weak!! and the whole tire is weak none strengths.
This tire is made to ride on the moon or on tar, becuase if you ride over a few rocks it will puncture!! I rid with it for the 2nd time and just went on the grass and there was a little rock, as I went over it it got a big cut and we could'nt fix it again!!! Spare your moneyn and buy a Kend Small Block 8 or something that better than this Michelin!! Really you won't regret it!!!!!

Michelin still doesn't get it.. No decent UST tires in the MID size.. This tire would be fantastic in a 2.3 UST, but all they have is a tiny 2.0.. The new Mt Extreme is still too many knobs,(crap transition from hard to soft terrain) too heavy and too slow.. Oh well, maybe next year.
Oh yea where is the 2.5 DH32 they have been promising for the last two years.??

FAST, great everywhere with 25psi ..Dual Compound, Tough, thick sidewalls, and only 950g.. MICHELIN has a LONG way to go to catch up.. Even the new Nokians are better, MAXXIS is enlarging the 2.35..

Michelin is still 2-3 years behind in tire tech... MAXXIS the best for DH, the Michelins are TOO slo, TOO heavy for the performance... Specialized PinIt comes in for a GREAT tube type DH tire 42a or 60 durometer.. The 60 is fast enough for an All Mt tire...and unless you are on total hard-packed, a better choice than the 42 for DH....

Super fast, grippy tread design. Improved thicker sidewalls over the Comp S Light which it replaces. Light, light light.

Tread knobs rip right off in no time. Never had this problem with the Comp S Light.

Although I've got a UST rim, I'm running the tube version of the tires. Tried Stan's to run as tubeless, but didn't work well; however, running superlight tubes still saves weight for tubeless version of tire.
Bottom Line:
Quoted price is actually CDN $ and per tire.
This tire has relatively poor mud-shedding characteristics, so cornering and traction aren't as good in wet or muddy conditions. BUT.. for racing or fast, aggresive riding in dry (especially hard-packed) conditions, this tire is outstanding!!!
Unfortunately, these tires also wear extremely fast - you can see noticeable wear after just 50 km.
If you're racing (whatever it takes to win) or have money to waste, this isn't a big deal. For everyone else, save 'em for race day; use something else for everyday riding or training.
I'm giving these tires five chilis for overall performance - so long as you use them in the right conditions. In terms of value, I'm giving them three chilis - they simply wear too fast.

These tires are the best. Grip, low rolling resistance, puncture resistance, light weight, and price are what to look for in an XC tire and these puppies have'em all. I don't ride in mud and most of our trails in the bay area are hard and fast. These puppies are lighter than my street tires and are as sticky as dried baby snot. I picked them up on sale at Performance and will definitly be riding these for a long time.
I would recommend these to anyone who rides, except maybe the bayou bunnies that love to spin in slop.

Strengths:
Very low rolling resistance. Very light weight. Cool grey colour. Lots of bite in corners for a smaller diameter tire. Not too difficult to convert to tubeless w/ Stan's.
Weaknesses:
Starting to wear after only 150 km. Michelin logo on the sidewalls are easily rubbed off. Doesn't shed mud too well. A little pricey too.

Bottom Line:
I have much more confidence going in hard to a turn with these tires than the previous Michelin Comp S Lites that I used to own. Not as grippy as the Specialized Roll X's I also ride, but pretty close to, and much lighter. Mounted to tubeless w/ Stan's and as a result they are wider due to the sidewall stretch than if they were with tubes. Even though they're not recommended by Stan, they seem to be holding up OK (I have a UST wheelset, so that helps). Works amazing in dry hardpack, and even the occasional loose stuff. Not the best on rocks as their narrow size gets stuck in crevaces. Great for racing. I can't complain!
