Strengths:
tacky, sticky, high volume, tough enough for rock gardens and I am 200ibs - not one of you whimpy 16yr old sized twikers.
Weaknesses:
wear out fast as is expected but still a valid drawback to tacky tires
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
yeti 575 stock. These are the bomb for western CO
Bottom Line:
These are fantastic as new tires. They corner well and hook up great on all the rock gardens in our area w/out pinch flats.
I use the super tacky and as anyone with a brain expects this wears out fast. Soft rubber + lots of sandstone = new tires often; I don't care who you are. Now they run like worn out tred and I'm back to e-bay trying to find a deal cause I won't pay MSRP every 3-6 months.
4 chilis on value cause You need 2-3 pair/yr at $60/pop.
5 chilis overall cause they rock when new.

Weaknesses:

Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
Great tire, tubeless runs great at 26-28psi, weight is okay compared to tire type. Narrow relative to other 2.5 - but that's a good thing IMO.
Only prob is if you do a lot of DH with this tire, prepare to replace every season. Wear was noticeable after first ride (although it was a full day at Northstar)

Weaknesses:

Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
These triple compound tires have so massive rolling resistance that old ladies on old bicycles will be faster that you on the road as you are trying to get to hills. On downhill track they offer good grip, but no better than my old minion with 42a compound (which have much less rolling resistance).
These tires are for downhill riders who don't need to pedal all the way to get to DH track.

This tire has never caused me to fall and I have never ridden faster. You simply must try this tire. It even climbs well. I run the 2.35 front tire (42 durometer) and the 2.35 60 durometer folding rear. This has got to be one of the best tire combos on the planet!

Started riding the front specific too and its awesome on the hardpack, dry, loose and rocks of any sort, grips great rolls surprisingly fast for a soft tire, must be the ramped knobbies. Also take the small gravel and really smooths it out since the rubber is so soft and slow rebounding, makes climbing technical spots with loose rocks over it makeable and almost easy.
Weaknesses:
Avoid mud at all cost this tire is horrible in anything wet beyond leafs and sand. If you hit clay this tire will pack up to the gills and make you slide around like you are on ice, back tire clears better than front but avoid the mud, must be the 40 dura on it that makes the mud cake up.

Weaknesses:
it grips dirt and terrain really well but asfar as riding around the street (im a all around freerider) it seems to slip out on pavement and most urban terrain and it has really thin sidewalls

kick ass tire but could use a little modification form maxxis but other than that this tire is da shizall

Great traction, Absorb bumps really well, almost no need for suspension. work as tubless tires
Weaknesses:
i have the 2.7 seams like the rolling resistence is pretty high
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:
These tires absorb the little bumbs really well and have great traction, i almost never have to worry about lossing traction. They do get clogged up with mud pretty fast but still seam to grip fine. THere a bit too heavy if u run them with DH tubes. they also work well wet conditions and soft dirt. Overal its worth buyting these, maybe get the skiinier ones if ur looking to go really fast.

2.5F Grips significantly better than the High Roller 2.35 60D wears slowly compared to High Roller Really hooks up on loose over hard Looks cool
Weaknesses:
Mud clogs it up pretty quickly Small rocks lodge nicely in the tread pattern and get thrown at you while you ride
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
13" Dr. Jekyll, sherman flick, bombshell wheels, bmx bars and stem, avid disks, fsa v drives, blackspire 42t, e13 bash, gusset ss 14t, aricorpse platforms. minion front, high roller rear.
Bottom Line:
I originally tried the maxxis high rollers front and rear and found that for the terrain i was riding, mostly loose stuff on hardpack and rock, that the front end slid out way too much. maxxis' site claims the Minions are supposed to work for loose on hardpack so i gave them a shot and have not regretted it since. i opted for the 2.5" 60D DH casing front and have had it on there going on 8 months now and the wear, though noticible, has not adversely affected the performance of the tire so far as i can tell. i have a feeling this is due to the harder durometer as i hear the 40 wears quite quickly. the high roller wears quite quickly compared to the minion. all in all i am pleased with the 2.5 minion front and the 2.35 high roller rear. i think that if you use the tire for its intended terrains it will treat you well, just dont expect it to rock when things get really wet, it packs up with mud pretty fast.

Bottom Line:
They came stock on my 2003 Iron Horse SGS Pro. They are the 2.7s with Super Tacky rubber. Nice front and rear specific design...I love them. They do wear out fast and I have the beginning of a sidewall hole on the back tire, but that's not really the tire's fault. Figure getting maybe one season (summer) out of them. I may switch to the 60 durometer rubber next time for longer life. The Super Tackys have to handle way better though. I think I would probably notice a difference in performance. It may come down to a budget decision. You can find them for about $45 a piece online. I thought about the Intense tires but they are heavier and more expensive. I think I'll stay with Maxxis.

If you like the mobster F highroller R you will like this better. The rear tire is great will not slide, it is like the highroller but has a better center grove. The front is like mobster but faster. The frunt slides a bit but It might be the St sliding. I might go to a highroller in the front and minion in rear.

Best freeride tire I have used. Lots of braking and cornering traction, very predictable "scrub" at the limits.
Weaknesses:
Real tires with actual traction and flat resistance are heavy. Get used to it. People who don't know how to ride give it bad reviews.

Bike Setup:
03 Norco Shore, Super T with extra-heavy springs, 2.7 Minion front, 24" rear Trail Pimp/2.7 High Roller
Bottom Line:
This tire rules. I can't believe the low rating - this is the best FR/DH tire I've used - must be some good crack being passed around by the low raters. The 60a version has plenty of traction, and won't wear out in 10 rides like the soft rubber does. Excellent traction and predictability. Great for hard pack to soft mud. Gets a little sketchy on wet slimy stuff but, DUH, all tires do that. Have not tried in sticky mud, probably will pack up something fierce but nearly every tire does. Rolls fast, good acceleration, 2.7 fits in 03 Marzocchi forks. Excellent sidewalls and profile - not too stiff (intense DH), not too low-volume (arrow prime), not too flimsy, good cush landings, juuuust right. If you rip the sidewall, don't blame the tire - it happens when you screw up, get over it. If you're not breaking stuff, ride harder.

a little pricey for such a soft compound, but they came with the bike...although I am buying another pair, also they're terrible in mud
These are the best tires I've ever ridden. They'll never fail you, the soft compound is real sticky in everything but wears down a bit fast...not much of a problem because of how they perform

If your serious about DH riding, think of another tire, because these will leave you stranded. In there defense, they do hook up nice when set right, but if you don't notice the rip in the sidewall, you could get hurt.

Slowreezay compound (40 durometer) Weight for a DH tyre (1150 gr) Can be run at very slow pressure (1 bar) Very confident tyre Maxxis product
BigHit comp 2002 stock with 26" wheels front & rear
Bottom Line:
This review is for the 2.5 Minion Front with Slowreezay compound: The tyre is 5mm narrower and 150gr lighter than an Highroller, it means that it give you a front more lighter and directional.
The tyre is very predictable, the front will slide slowly always under your control.
This tire needs to be used in dry conditions or in very light mud.
For the rear tyre, I would recommend an harder compound than the SR or ST...

washes out easily when cornering, weak grip in wet conditions - can be very unpredictable in wet, rocky terrain
Mountain Cycle San Andreas w. XT transmission, Hope Brakes, Marz/Stratos shocks, other bits include Raceface, Azonic, Thomson etc.
Bottom Line:
This review is for the foldable kevlar-beaded 2.5" version, F & R with normal sidewalls.
These tires are relatively light and the ramped tread pattern rolls fast so they're suitable for those long, epic trailride/freeride sessions.
Cornering grip could be better, the side lugs are too small to hold grip well. Also, I had pretty scary moments when riding some rocky sections in rain. Tires slipped even in low-speed downhill situations. Maybe a softer durometer version would grip better in wet, I have 60a. Here in Finland the only dry season (summer) lasts 3-4 months, otherwise it's mud, snow or ice for us...so I don't have a lot of use for this kind of tires. But in the summertime they're great.
Three Flamin' Chilis for an all-round tire which performs well - as long as conditions are dry. If you're only going to buy one set of tires, look elsewhere.
