But these skewers are a joke and a disgrace. The quick releases are not in pair with the rest of my wheel setup. The levers are either made of composite or plastic, I really don’t care which. But they shake and sound like a baby’s rattler, and that I’m not too happy about! These pieces of plastic that serve as handles are by way of a small metal pin, loosely connected to a flat piece of metal that in turn make for the tightening of the hubs. The fit between these two parts is poor, and the tiny little pin doesn’t help enough. So the plastic piece ends up shaking and rattling, and that’s annoying!
Further more these Q/R handles will not stand up to any kind of violence. While other levers when subjected to any kind of hits (to rocks, curbs or such) will bend, dent or chip, you can be fairly confident that these will either fall off all together or shatter into about 200 tiny little pieces. Then the only way to tighten or untighten your wheels will be with the help of a pair of pliers (how many of you want to carry ‘round a pair of those out on the trail…).
Save your money, and look in the trash can at your local bike shop when scouting around for a pair of these, ‘cause that’s where you might find ‘em, and that’s where they belong! | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

The tiny metal pin that holds the plastic lever on falls out after a several months of use. Getting it back in is a pain. It will require a vice and tools you wont have on the trail. Do your self a favor and get Control tech or even Salsa. The plastic on these things is a let down. The other two skewers are lighter also. | | Bottom Line: | They are lame. I was given a pair for free.
I like the high leverage mechanism, but at first I thought that it wasn't locking in all the way as the skewer had an on/off feel. I can't complain though, I don't notice any decrease in wheel flex and as long as you have them very tight they won't make any noise.
The durability is questionable as they are largely plastic and tiny pieces of stamped steel, Ill post a followup in a couple of months of riding.
All in all they are a Mavic quality skewer with some finicky traits, but in end, do what a skewer should do. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

All xtr. | | Bottom Line: | These look okay, but have some real problems for a set of skewers that you get with a $700 wheelset (crossmax). They feel cheap, and the composite material rattles like a mother when you are out riding (if you have them, I'm sure you know what I mean).
Anyway, the Salsa's are going back on the bike, and the Mavic's may get a second life someday on the car rack - assuming my 2000 watt amp can drown out the rattling noise. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

They sell high and act like high quality, but they fail to meet my standard. And I only have experience with lower end skewers. I bought mine slightly used--well, the front was still new and shrink-wrapped, but the rear was a bit used (nothing wrong with it compared to the front).
They do close with a snap and keep on the hub, but the problem is that the high-ratio closure has a little play once it is "tight". The wheels actually move laterally when I push-pull on them. This doesn't happen with my generic or low-end shimano skewers.
Lateral stiffness on a bike comes down to the weakest link. In this case, it is these skewers.
one off for expense ($50 new, though I paid $20 -minus $10 paypal bonus), two more off for lack of stiffness. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

I love the high ratio closure as Mavic calls it; it gives the skewer a good, firm feel when you close it.
