OMG WTF BBQ SAUCE!!! I left my Street Links locked securely around a bike rack over the weekend and now they are gone!?!?! WTF!!!(The bike rack is a U shapped metal pole that is fixed to the ground via concrete... So, nothing sneaky happened here.)
This products weakness is the fact that you could cut the chain and reuse it:( University of minnesota, twin cities bike thieves have nothing better to do that walk around campus with 4 ft bolt cutters and steal bike chains... I filed a friggin police report... LOL, It was a funny conversation... "So... You're here to report a stolen bike lock..."
This is a solid bike lock as long as you have the shrouded pad lock. P/N 6321D. How ever, These chains have a very high resale value and are a hot commodity...
Hmmmmm, maybe they used a dremel tool and cut through the locks barely exposed shackle. maybe they had a nice lock pick set. Can you buy a mechanized lock pick?

Strengths:
Very strong, very tough. The links are friggin 12mm that's like 1/2 an inch, OMG WTF BBQ SAUCE!!
Weaknesses:
weigh? Well, leave the lock where you always lock your bike up and carry a lighter U-lock for when you are running errands and what not. Or get a pannier to carry this beast. They should of make the exposed shackle less and smaller....I think this is a general purpose high security lock that they just used with the chain because it worked, but it works great.
Similar Products Used:
master lock U-lock 4"x10", I use this to lock up my front wheel and shock to the frame:)
Bike Setup:
trek 4500, nothing stock
Bottom Line:
THE VERY LAST REVIEWER IS A RETARD!! I hope someone stole his bike from him for being so stupid. Hmmmmm lets see here....The last link on one end is larger than all the other links, maybe this is important?? Huh...Ican fit the small end link through the larger end link..... Oh, I know you only lock one end into the shackle...THAT'S WHY IT DOESN'T FIT BOTH LINKS. I hate retards that get on here and post reviews and blast an amazing product because they are too stupid to figure out how to use it. His IQ is probably around 80-90, well below the average of 100.(think of the Bell curve).
Any way, I highly recommend getting a 6121D lock as well as an additional U-lock for locking you front wheel and shock.(you gotta protect your components) You can use the 6121D to "double lock" the bike. Place the extra lock towards the middle and lock it there around the post, then lock the ends around the bike. If you get what I'm saying then the thief will have to cut two sections of the chain, or cut a boron reinforced lock that is fairly hard to get at as well as the chain. Because the lock that this thing comes with can't be reached with bolt cutters and anything that could produce a leverage attack would be too thin and weak, plus bashing it with a sludge hammer won't go so well....Iron shrouds are the key to it's high security.
My stem and derailleur screws and the outer components on my handle bars have their screws filled in with sodder. The dirty meth addicts will have to drill out the sodder to just get my handle bar, that;'s if they realize it is just sodder and can realize they can drill it out....Meth addicts aren't that resourceful. They just hear about ways to steal things and they follow suit.
THE BOTTOMLINE This chain and lock has a $3000.00 dollar anti theft guarantee. what more do you want??

Strengths:
secure, heavy chain takes a long time to cut through, the simple presence of this lock/chain may force bike thieves to go on to easier targets, can be used as a bludgeoning device on bike thieves ;), carrying it around in your backpack will make you stronger
Weaknesses:
heavy
Similar Products Used:
Master Locks 15MM braided cable (to secure front wheel to frame), Kryptonite Kryptocable
Bike Setup:
which one?
Bottom Line:
I have a feeling the reviewer above me doesn't understand how to lock the chain, i thought the same thing myself until i read the directions, you don't put both links into the lock shackle, it *will not* lock that way, what you *DO* do is pass the last link of the short link thru the long link and run the lock thru the protruding half of the short link, then it will lock, it also makes it extremely difficult (if not impossible) to pry the lock open
I was looking for a strong, reliable way to secure my bike when i go to get lunch at work, since the cylinder style U-locks proved useless against the mighty Bic, that limited my choices to flat-key locks
i saw this chain a my LBS in their clearance bin for $65, and as soon as i picked it up, i knew i had found my locking system, the thing is *HEAVY* and solid (heck, it weighs about half of what my bike weighs) and nearly impervious to cutting /welding tools (no locking system is impenetrable, they're a deterrent *ONLY*) i believe the estimate is that it'll take 10-20 minutes to cut thru with boltcutters or a torch, the only device capable of quickly cutting it is The Jaws of Life, and lets be honest, how many bike thieves have access to those?
the simple presence of this chain is enough to make most bike thieves move on to easier targets, many people have remarked "whoa, that's a *serious* chain, when they see me remove it from or install it on the bike, that visual deterrent alone is invaluable
the only drawback i can find to this chain is that it's heavy, but i'm willing to live with the weight for the maximum in security.....
