Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $20.00
Purchased At:??
Strengths:It isn't all kinked up and springy like other bike locks. It is long enough to go around your frame and tire - the length also helps to attach the bike to a wider variety of objects. I use it in college and have attached it to signs, trees etc when no bike posts are available. It is fast, and you can pull it tight or leave it loose (kind of like a noose - it gets tighter but you must have a key to get it loose). It is good for a bike lock on campus, especially if you use your bike daily to ride to class.
Weaknesses:It looks like a snake head - kind of juvenile, but the ease of use overrides any embarrasment at having a lock that looks like a snake...
Similar Products Used:master lock and chain, springy-looking bike locks.
Bike Setup:Old steel trek 820 rigid.
Bottom Line:It is a fast, easy-to-use, and versatile lock with a wide range of applications, but it looks like a snake...

Date Reviewed: September 24, 2006
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $16.00
Purchased At:Wal Mart
Strengths:Adjustable, Convenient, Cheap
Weaknesses:Completely worthless- was broken in less than a week. Someone simply pulled hard on the cable and the end with a metal stopper popped right off, rendering the entire thing useless as anyone could just pull the cable through the lock, no problem
Bottom Line:I have not used two of these, so I can not definitively say that it is a product defect, but be careful to pull hard on the cable (both ends) to make sure yours works if you buy one.

Date Reviewed: April 13, 2003
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Canadian Tire
Strengths:Versatility, Quality, Esthetics.
Weaknesses:Have not had long enough. This product is a cable, so comes with some risk of being cut, but if cinched down well, the cable can be made very tight and difficult to grasp with cutters.
Similar Products Used:None
Bottom Line:You can imagine how this can work for your individual purpose. I like these locks for securing my bike to the roof rack, as well as my kayak. They are great for securing your kayak to your roof rack, and can also be used as the tie down.

Favorite Trail:Seminole
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $30.00
Purchased At:Local - Bicycles Plus
Strengths:Adjustable Cable! Fits around both tires, front and rear frame AND anchor point. Easy to work. 3 modes: lock, catch, unlock.
Weaknesses:None, save that it is a cable, and therefore suseptable to cutters. NO bike mount included.
Similar Products Used:Krypts, U-locks.
Bike Setup:Jamis Dakar 2002, standard setup.
Bottom Line:Ask yourself what you need. If you need a lock that will thwart cutters, and jacks, this may not be it. However, if you need a casual lock that will deter the general thief, this is the ticket.

It is VERY nice to be able to adjust the cable, and it is simply to use. The lock has three modes: lock, catch, and unlock. Catch mode is a great addition, it allows you to move the cable IN, but not out, making locking and adjusting that much easier.

It is very nice to be able to adjust the cable. It keeps the bike tight, and ends up making a jack much less useful. You can lock all parts by winding it in and out. They eve sell cable extensions if you need more length.

One dissapointing thing is that there was no mount in the package. How the heck am I supposed to use it if I can't carry it? Grrr... They sell two clips as accessories, but do not include one in the package. They lose a chili for this on value.

Overall two thumbs up for the job done. Best cable lock out there IMHO.
