Favorite Trail:Hiawiatha
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:eBay store NIB - not OEM
Strengths:None. This is a terrible fork. Failed miserably and caused severe injury... AVOID THIS PRODUCT AT ALL COSTS.
Weaknesses:Typical Marzocchi top out... horrible seals and internals. Left stantion tube snapped at the crown. The people at Marzocchi Canada refused to warranty the fork. They said that it was my fault that the fork broke because I was not using it for what it was intended to do. that particular day I was riding street and not dirt jumping.
Similar Products Used:Rock Shox Psylo, Manitou Sherman Firefly, Marzocchi Jr. T, Dirt Jumper 3 and a Dirt Jam Pro, which was tossed in the garbage.
Bike Setup:a Banshee Scratch.. Profile BMX crankset... Mag 30's... Avid disk in the rear. .243 bars and stem, single speed. it was a pure dirt jump/street bike.
Bottom Line:I was putting down the front end from a manual and left stantion snapped right at the crown. As I was falling, the broken stantion tube pierced my jacket, hoody and tore my stomach open causing the need for a night in the hospital and 34 stitches. I landed on my left knee and it broke as well. Not only did this product fail miserably, but they refused to warranty it, and they blamed me.

This is a horrible product from a horrible company. I lost a year and a half's worth of riding while recuperating from my injuries. (oil inside of deep cuts is very very bad) Because of the way they handled this issue, I got a 66Rc on a new bike and sold it immediately.

This fork needed more attention than a high maintenance girlfriend. constant changing of seals, oil, and all kinds of other things... Then they want me to pay for a repair... I can ride my gf harder than I could ride this fork.

I would rate this a zero, but it won't let me.

Strengths:.......
Weaknesses:Alot, it was fine when i bought it, then the stanctions fell out because some tube inside broke, the seals break constantly, and you can bottom it out so easly even with 10 wt oil, and it tops out alot, and the steer tube creeks, and i dont even go big on this fork, I ride street
Bike Setup:Evilution Dirty Steve, hayes HMX 1, kenda k-rads, single speed,
Bottom Line:I guess its ok for riding around but i have had nothing but bad luck with this fork, there is constantly something wrong with it, when this one is toast im goin to a sherman jumper.

Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:private party
Strengths:I bought it used at a descent price...
The travel feels nice, but I put in a little extra oil as to help with the lack of springness...It works well.
Looks pretty bad A$$.
QR20 is not very QR however is much better than a standard skewer.
It handles everything I give it, which is a lot considering I am 190 #.
Weaknesses:I wish it had the new "M" crown, and 32mm stanchions.. I think that would stiffen it up just enough to make it pretty sweet..
Springs are too light, but a little extra oil and she's good to go.
Creaky, but doesn't seem to affect the performance.
Similar Products Used:2003 Junior T, Risse "Wet Trixxy", 1998 X-Vert R,

Bottom Line:I got it at a fair price and I ride the Sh?! out of it, so it is hard to say too much bad about it.

It sounds like some poeple out there have their hands on a "lemon". Mine seems to do the job, If you go and buy one just be careful, some are good, some are not so good.

Strengths:can handle sitting in the corner not being used.
Weaknesses:Steer tube creaks like crazy, bends easy, qr20 breaks, WAY undersprung, definately not worth the book price. it bottoms out easy, and when not bottoming out, it spikes (stops going down) after 2 inches of travel. i have 15 wt oil and heaviest springs i could get and it still bottoms out, i only weigh 137lbs and it is still crap.

Strengths:Tough, Stiff, Single crown with good travel. Changed to stiffer springs really easily.
Weaknesses:As with other reviews, the steer tube is creaking, not too noticeable, but a little. Too soft initially for me 210lbs, but stiffer springs and a top up of oil really helped.

Bottom Line:Forks are great so far, had problems with slow compression on hits, reduced the preload, and it is more plush. I find that if I run the recommended sag, the forks are way plusher, and don't have that rough feel on wheelies and drops. North Shore BABY!!!!

Duration Product Used:1 Year
Strengths:Stiff and strong(touch wood)
Weaknesses:Got the creaks as well, got em fixed but creaken again, I weigh 78kees and can't get a spring/oil combo heavy enough to stop bottoming out, I have the heaviest Marz springs.
Similar Products Used:Tried Lots - I had a set of Z1 Drop-Offs, they handled much bigger hits but not as stiff, didn't creak as much.
Bike Setup:02 Big Hit,XTR,Hope M4/O2 rear
Bottom Line:If your not going big or weigh 1/2 what I do this fork will probably suit you. In my case the fork doesn't match the rear travel of the big hit - which by the way is a freekin excellent freeride bike, super strong, stiff rear end. As for the fork, when I'm riding 8ft drops(not flat landings) it bottoms out hard unless landing is quite steep. Gonna get Dorado Sc's or Manitou Shermans.

Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:See my previous review from a month ago.
Weaknesses:I take back pretty much everything I said about this fork a month ago. I'm not sure I'll buy another Marzocchi ever again, and I have rode them for 6 years. This fork creaks like crazy, it feels like the stanchions are going to pop out of the crowns when I do a freakin wheelie. The QR20 sucks, the travel is not smooth, it's undersprung, the rebound adjuster doesn't work at all. I emailed Marzocchi about these issues to see what they had to say, their answer was "buy a triple or an 03 DJ1". This fork was brand new 3 MONTHS AGO and rides like like garbage. It hasn't even been ridden that hard! I have a 98 Z2BAM XC fork that is more confidence inspiring than this.
Similar Products Used:Lots
Bike Setup:soon to be set up WITHOUT this piece of trash
Bottom Line:This is not worth your money. I am actually scared to ride this as it feels like it's going to fall apart at any second. Don't buy it, don't buy a bike that has one. Read the other reviews! I didn't believe the other reviews until the same things started happening to me. Believe me, if I could rate it less than one flaming piece of dog crap, I would. I didn't pay much for the fork, I got a deal with an expensive frame but I still feel ripped off.

Purchased At:Erik's Bike
Strengths:These forks don't really have any strengths.
Weaknesses:Everything. Within the first month of riding I had to send the fork in due to an overwhelming creaking from the steerer/stanchions. BAD!! MARZ replaced with 2003 steerer and that seemed to work for about two months. For a fork that is marketed to people that will ride aggressively it is a "BIG NO GO." From the flex in the stanchions to the "Too soft" set-up it's my opinion that MARZ made a bad move.
Similar Products Used:Tons, I work at a bike shop
Bike Setup:2002 customized Big Hit comp
Bottom Line:be careful, change springs ASAP, change oil ASAP, and watch the steerer/stanchion area closely.

I would never buy again. The upside......MARZ has good customer service...but you'll have to "politely" hound them once or twice a week.

Date Reviewed: July 23, 2003
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $175.00
Strengths:130mm travel, QR20, adjustable, stiffness
Weaknesses:QR20, there is nothing "QR" about it. Marzocchi should have called it "slow R20". feels strange while trying to wheelie, rebound adjustment doesn't seem to work. (I've noticed this on other reviews as well.)Ugly gothic graphics
Similar Products Used:Psylo XC(way better QR20 than 2002 and older marzocchis), Z1, Z2, Z3.
Bike Setup:02 Stinky dee, 02 DJ1, hayes, lx/xt, ODI's, raceface etc.
Bottom Line:So far so good, I hope my stantions don't break in half like what happened to other people who have reviewed this fork. Pretty plush, but if you weigh more than 180lbs you'll probably want stiffer springs and/or heavier oil. I use it for everything, not just dirt jumping and it has worked ok so far, no drops over 6 feet yet but the fork is good on those. In retrospect I should have gone with a 2001 Z1 MCR QR20 or waited and gotten a 2003 DJ1 or DJ2. Great value considering what I paid for it ($175.00 CAD brand new with frame purchase) If you can get that kind of deal, take it.

Weaknesses:rebound adjustment does little to nothing, was origonally told that it would have dual external rebound adjustments like Z1, feels like crap on flat drops.

Bottom Line:I loved these forks when I first bought them but after a week of owning them I noticed they were twisted. I sent the forks back to the shop and got a new pair. The rebound damper didn't work so I had to get a new one. Changed the oil to harden them up = sweat! Four weeks later the crowns began to creek. I first thought it must be the headset. Got a new headset only to find at my horror it was the crowns. Sent the forks back to the Importers who re-Cryofitted them. Bingo! no creeking, pure pleasure. 5 weeks later the stanchions came lose, scary lose! So I sent them back to the Importers again, hoping for a new pair but instead they are going to replace the crowns again!!! aaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Strengths:Very strong. Quite enough travel. Nice overall response. I like the juicy sound it does when compressing.
Weaknesses:- Having many problems with the pressed crown. It creaks like hell. I don't like to think it can break anytime. Even though it's the second one I have, it has the same problem.
- Stock springs are way too soft.

Strengths:Stiff, plush, has held up ver well. Very good spring rate for me (but I weigh 130 lbs...) It never bottoms out, never creaks, never requires special attention.
Weaknesses:The rebound damping adjuster doesn't seem to do much. I am a light rider and I have trouble getting it to rebound as fast I I would like. The QR 20+ is the most retarded system in the world, although Marzocchi has addressed the problem with the QR 20-Pro on 2003 DJ1.

Bike Setup:box-stock Norco VPS Fluid.
Bottom Line:I am using the Fluid for freeriding. I have no intention of doing any dirt jumping though. The fork seems to be a fine choice for freeriding. If you are really abusive/hardcore, a Super-T Pro or Monster-T may suit you better. But I am happy with the Dirt Jumper 1. Only the retarded drop-out design deproves it of a 5-chili rating. But remember this had been fixed for 2003.

The compression is now very progressive, and gets very stiff at the bottom. The stiffest shock, and the most accurate steering, of any single crown fork I've tried. It's not a DC fork, but for the low cost (and low weight!), you can't beat it.

Why not a standard bolt thru? Undoing a 20mmQR+ takes the same amount of time as normal bolt thru and the QR idea just doesn't work. If you want "proper" quick release 200m axle, get a Psylo Tullio - they rock.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $400.00
Strengths:Thicker stanchtions then past years
Weaknesses:M-arch
Non bolt on steerer
non bolt on crown
non bolt on arch
Fork needs to be rebuild about o nce a week
Little 26 inch tire clearance
Stock springs to soft
Lowers are qr20+, they should be dedicated 20mm.
Adjusters on the top break of easily
Fork creaks, even after sending it in
Overpriced
Harder to change travel then other forks
Paint sucks
Fork leaks enough oil to go to your discs and ruin the pads.
If leaft upsidedown then ridden then fork will spray oil with enough force to take out an eye.
Many more weaknesses then what i mentioned.
Similar Products Used:Tons of other forks.
Bike Setup:Planet-x bommer
Bottom Line:If you are an xc comuter, buy this fork.
If you are a real dj'r, this fork is a joke. Its designed for big hits, yet if you nose a 2 foot drop there is a good chance it will snap. I have to run a 24 inch front wheel so i can have decent tire clearence. When you break 1 part, you have to send your WHOLE fork back and wait a month. Then when it comes back, you get 2 more weeks of riding until its broken again. Marz is turning into the rockshock of rear suspension, keep it up marz- one day you will reaslise that your idiots. This fork is dangerous, if it brakes while on a 5 foot drop, you could easily paralize yourself. Be careful if you own this fork.

no noodle action in hard turns
Weaknesses:well....

soft- anyone over 140lbs who really dirt jumps will need heavier springs, after one ride I blew up the rebound damping, after 3 rides the cryofit crap came loose, my topcaps got cooked, andnow it creaks back and forth. mmm-mmm good. they should have stuck with the bolt-on crown. and the goofy little plastc knob fell off before I even got got out of the shop.

Purchased At:Maqueen's Bike Shop
Strengths:This fork is super stiff, i can't notice any flex during my landings at all. This is by far the smoothest fork i've ever had the pleasure of riding. It takes about a 6 foot drop onto a flat to bottom this fork, I love it.
Weaknesses:Stock springs are a little soft for a rider of my weight (175 lbs) but even when it bottoms, it doesn't bottom hard, so it really isn't a big deal.

Bike Setup:2002 Norco vps drop, completely stock ( the dj1 came on it)
Bottom Line:This is the fork if your into freeriding and you want a single crown, it feel so much better than the z1 line, and it's built stronger, not to mention that it costs less. If you wanna huck, trailride, and whatever else your into, definitely consider this fork.

Strengths:Strong, Marzocchi Smooth, Stiff as all get out! The 20 mm Axle holds your wheel straighter than anything out there.
Weaknesses:Are teh extra tabs that make it a QR 20+ necessary? Makes changing flats more time-consuming.

Bottom Line:Wow! 5 inches of travel on this thing is great. Contrary to most people's experiences, mine isn't too soft, it feels great, and i weigh around 170. Marzocchis are notoriously under-sprung, so it isn't surprising. This thing looks cool, feels great, and flinches at nothing. Whatever you got, it'll take. So go jump some stuff!

Bottom Line:this fork is so swwet it eats up almost anything the only problem with it is the it is way to soft maby it is just my fork but just putting my weight on it and ramming it down i can bottom it out with max preload and i only weight about 160 lbs. that is the only thing wrong with this fork if it was not for that this would be the so sick. with different shox oil and stiffer springs this would be probly one of the best single crown fork. i highly recamend this fork but think about getting new oil and stiffer sprongs unless u weigh nothin.

Strengths:This fork is tottaly cool. I have had lot´s of fun with it so far. I would recomend to upgrade it to 130mm while I have done severel bottum-out´s on it.(110)...
Weaknesses:Like the other dude.. I´t pretty bad with a 6" rotor, so it´s a must with the 8". Plus the 6 bolts that holds the discs must have a very small head to clear the inner fork... But that´s it.......

It´s been about 4 weeks since I got it, and it´s not arrived yet.. Lucky for the *&%¤#§½"@ at Marzocchi DK, that i´m a toolmaker and have made my own one...

Favorite Trail:Humber Jump
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1.00
Purchased At:factory pro deal
Strengths:Everything a fork should be
Its the perfect fork for urban and dirt jumping!
Weaknesses:Spacing for 6inch disc rotors is CRAP!! Forward/backward flex.
Similar Products Used:Z1's, not much else
Bike Setup:DMR Trailstar, XT deraillers, Intense Mag-30s on Formula Hubs, XT hydros,
Bottom Line:Marzocchi went and designed the disk tabs for 8in rotors instead of the way more common 6in ones. If you use 6in rotors be prepared to use a ton of spacers for the caliper and the rotor. If you use 8in rotors, there's no problem with spacing. There is a surprising amount of flex when you lock the front brake and rock the bike back and forth. Thats not noticeable when you're out riding and the 20mm axle makes the fork incredibly stiff during cornering.
Despite those two drawbacks the fork is still absolutely amazing. I've been riding it for a little over a month and it just eats up everything I throw at it.
