Date Reviewed: January 28, 2007
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $45.00
Purchased At:used
Strengths:plush, stiff. what you'd expect from a coil/oil fork.
Weaknesses:no faults of the fork itself. its in pretty bad shape from the previous owner.
Similar Products Used:03 DJ2, 05 dirt jam comp, 04 dj3, mz comps, dropoff 4's
Bike Setup:04 steelhead, 24" single/double track, 03 dj2 (or this), singlespeeded.
Bottom Line:the bottom line? dont pay much for it, but what you pay, you get what you pay for. (if that makes any sense.)

dont expect an infinetely adjustable 8" wonder fork, but if you're looking for a basic, light-duty double crown with a standard dropout, this is the way to go.

Favorite Trail:Great Ayton

Price Paid: $225.00
Strengths:These forks are very plush and seemingly just about maintainance free. My forks are now old and they still are very strong, I've landed a few 10ft drops and so long as you arent really clumsy they don't bottom at all really. I'm not saying they are unbreakable but you would ahve to be really extreme to snap them. Suprisingly these forks are nice and light too, also cheap relatively.
Weaknesses:Maybes a little flexy but to be honest i only ever notice that when i do a dodgy drop or jump. They havent broke yet so i guess its just the way they are.
Similar Products Used:2002 Drop Offs, Wedges, 2004 Jnr T's
Bike Setup:Club Roost DH8, Mavic 321s on DMR Revolvers, Hayes HFX discs, Truvativ Hussefelt cranks
Bottom Line:These are excellent forks. They last forever and never really go wrong. They are the perfect length so that they arent too numb but still have plenty of travel to absord jumps and drops.

Bottom Line:( this is the 2001 junior T OEM ) An amazing fork, the OEM has a different arch then the other junior T's, and it looks better and fits a bigger tire, this fork is plush, indestructable, impossible to bottom out, not too heavy, QR 20 drop out is stiff and looks good, this fork is not too expensive, I dirt jump and freeride and this fork does that like nothing. Buy this fork or something like it IF YOU DONT LIKE YOUR SH!TTY EXR COMP!

Bottom Line:its a good fork for a rider who wants to go and have fun of the trails and the person who wants to go hit up the local jumps.. it responds well and is quite plush. if ur going to buy juniors buy them after the 01 model .. 02 , 03 , and 04 are built alot stronger!

Bottom Line:Greatest fork ever produced in my opinion. These forks have been through the trashing of 3 frames, cracked open d321's, bent cranks etc all without a complaint. All they have required in the way of service was an oil change once in the 2 years of owning them. They are strong light weight (for a dh fork) as well as being really plush and having great quality travel. I couldnt ask for more in a fork.

Purchased At:The Bike Doctor Saskatoon
Strengths:Everthing. The dual crowns really increase structural rigidity compared to a single crown fork. The CNC machined aluminum wheel arch comes in handy when running large tires. The dampening and rebound couldn't be better. I also love the QR20 axle up front.
Weaknesses:None to date.
Similar Products Used:Marzocchi EXR, SR suntour and various rockshox.
Bike Setup:2003 Norco Rampage. Hayes hydros, Jr.t of course, DX32 rims Husselfelt cranks.
Bottom Line:This is one of the best forks for your money. It came stock on my 2003 Rampage which is rare for an Urban Assault bike costing only $1000 U.S.

Purchased At:http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/
Strengths:Light weight, reliable, easy to maintain, new mag arch doesn't bend like the old bolt on braces used to.
Weaknesses:Lack of small bump sensitivity, too progressive in its stock form. Not very precise, too much flex. Longish bed in time
Similar Products Used:97 Z1 bombers, Monster T's
Bike Setup:Stinky Primo + hope brakes
Bottom Line:I had been running a single crown Marzocchi Z1 for a couple of years and decided triples were the way forward so ordered the 2001 Jr't, about £300 at the time.

When I got them on the bike I was pretty impressed with the feel but they seemed too progresive, I couldn't get anywhere near full travel landing drops (I weigh 80kgs/176lbs). This was somewhat cured by dropping the oil height by 30mm in each leg.

The second problem was the whole action seemed a little slow, word was they took a little time to bed in as the seals / bushes were tight. After some bed in time they loosend up a bit but were never great. I would recomend swapping the 7.5wt oil to 5wt oil.

I was a little worried about the magnesium arch that braces the sliders. This was due to me and two other guys I know crashing and bending the old style bolt on braces on 97 Z1's. Thing was you could unbolt the old knackered one and replace it with an aftermarket one. So I thought what if I slam with the new forks, will the Magnesium arch explode and I have to throw the forks away? Well it has stood up impressively to many slams so top marks to Marzocchi.

The steering precision is not great, the whole thing has quite a lot of flex in it. I think this is why marzocchi have gone up from 30mm stanchions to 32mm in 2003.

My final point is regarding the bushes and seals, the bushes wore out after about 18 months riding but the oil seals never blew. The bushes and seals are easy and cheap to replace so no worries there.

So all in all they are good solid reliable, if slightly uninspiring fork. I've now bought some Monster T's and they are a lot plusher but you have to pays your money!

Duration Product Used:2 Years
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:jenson.com
Strengths:laterally stiff... point it where you wnat to go and that is where you will go... no deflection
Weaknesses:stock compression damper setting is too stiff. after being drilled (more holes mean more oil is able to flow through) by marzochi usa in valencia ca it felt much better.
Bike Setup:2001 Stinky used for freeride and DH
Bottom Line:not as adjustable as a super T but still a great mid level type dual crown fork. I'd recommend it to other riders looking for something in this price range.

Strengths:Plush action, excellent sealing, solid construction, easy to maintain, look nice.
Weaknesses:Paint chips off the arch easily, no external damping controls, decals scuff easily.
Similar Products Used:Z1's, X Vert DC's, Hannebrink G7's, White Bros DH2's.
Bottom Line:I have ridden these for over a year including two trips to Les Gets and I have had no problems with them. They respond to big hits well, but aren't quite as supple over the little bumps. Nothing bends, breaks or twists when you crash. A solid and dependable fork for downhilling and free riding.

Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $300.00

Strengths:Best fork value going. If you don't ned or use more than 6" of travel, this fork is hard to beat. Marzocchi makes the most durable, reliable forks in the market.
Weaknesses:They do flex some, but what do you expect with QR axles?
Similar Products Used:Similar to Marzocchi......?
Bike Setup:still the same
Bottom Line:If you don't need more than 6" of travel, the 2001 Jr T is the best fork going for the price. If the extra inch is what you need, get a 2002 model. It's light, strong, reliable, reputable, and durable, all at a better price than any competitor's forks. Do yourself a favor, and put the proper springs and oil in for your weight.

Bottom Line:great fork once set up properly. external adjustments dont do much. to really tune it i needed to adjust the amount of oil in each leg to make the fork more progressive. this proved to be fiddly and messy but worth it because for the last four months i've been hammering down (and sometimes up) hill and its stood up to just about everything.
