I am a Clydesdale, (actually a Wookie) so I when I saw this NOS dual-crown JRT at Chucksbikes.com for 185.00, I could not wait to get my fat little fingers on it. I immediately buzzed off the rim-brake bosses. Compared to the Marz single crown that came with the bike, this one can carry my 200+ lb fuselage with confidence. I've noticed some oil on the tubes at the top of the stroke, probably due to dried-out seals- easily fixed. Most of my riding here in Chicago is flat Urban/Suburban/Construction Zone/Dodging bullets. Believe the hype- made in Italy does mean something.

Started teaching myself to do trials on the bike, not too successful, managed to snap my frame from reverse brake tortion. Very firm fork, Ive essentially ridden it into the ground as the top crown is kinda cracked and is cracking more. Wicked for jumping, awesome for urban, hurts for DH. Bottom Line:
This is a great fork for light to moderate freeriding and just having fun with, I wish I had this thing the last time I went to Bromont. I personally haven't done any big drops on the fork, but my nephew has done some 14'+ drops with the bike with both the old judy and the JRT and you can see the control difference in the landings. I crashed hard at the end of last years season and have lost my nerve for the bigger stuff (over 5 feet) but I just did some tuning on the bike and am getting the urge to try again, so as soon as the laundry is done I am off to sit at the top of a drop that ranges from 4 to 10 feet depending on how fast you hit it. Hopefully I can get the nerve back and start enjoying the bike again.

So far, this fork is everything that I expected it to be and then some. It's stiffer under braking (which means more control), it takes the biggest hits (just ride up that curbing or 4" log), it tracks awesome through the tech stuff, changed my head angle (easy wheelies), and chics dig it! We'll see how it really performs next year when I do some downhilling in Ohio and Michigan. But for right now, I'm just breakin' it in and playing with the adjustments. I've only got one turn of preload in this thing, haven't jumped it higher than 3ft yet, still trying to hit bottom. I weigh 165lbs. and the stock springs suit me fine. I am also able to ride with less rear shock preload since I got this thing, which is really cool. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT THIS THING ROCKS, I LOVE BLASTIN' PAST THOSE XCers ON THE D.H. Time to stop reading about it, go bust open your piggy bank, knock over a liquor store, whatever you have to do to get one!!!!

Bottom Line:
This fork does it's job best freeriding or on a lighter DH bike and it does it's job very nicely. It's light enough to go on epic singletrack mountain climbs, yet has the ability to handle drops, jumps and steep rocky DH with no complaints. It's quite adjustable with different oilwt. It tracks nicely on fast singletrack but it's in it's element on rough rocky DH sections. This fork has saved me more than a few times. Times when I had the rear end off the ground, the fork rode it out succesfully and most of all smoothly. I notice a little flex on hard landings but that's expected with 6 in of travel. So I have really no complaints. I knew exactly what I was getting when I bought this fork. Love the flat black paint.
Bottom line: If you have a lighter DH or freeride bike, this fork is the ticket. If you don't freeride or DH, don't buy this fork. It's cheapest so I give it a 5. It's not the stiffest and it doesn't have the 20mm axle. so overall it's a 4.

Strengths:
Very strong construction, Quality of build, Smooth action, Near perfect seals, Fairly light weight for travel and last but not least a spotless reputation.
Weaknesses:
Spring rate a bit soft for the average adult rider, have needed to fit higher rate springs to stop bottom out and tuck under in the soft stuff. Tyre clearance bit tight under brace for wheels bigger than 2.3.
Long travel took a while to get used to, Due to light stock springs a jab on the hope disc on steep DH sent front diving and tucking under resulting in many trips over the bars but have only had a short while and expect the stiffer springs (red) / diferent ride style will cure this. Dont let a little tweaking put you off, the bottom line is this fork is HOT. Tracking is perfect, Uphill bob is much reduced and the ride over the rough stuff is magic carpet like. P.S. They also look the part (not that this is important...Yea right).

Strengths:
Very responsive to small and big hits, SSV seems to really work, stiff, looks great 8), EXCELLENT materials - practically all machined aluminum unlike other forks...this fork reeks quality, pretty adjustable.
Weaknesses:
Need a lot of time to fine-tune the fork...damn rebound adjuster is a pain in the a$$ to get to.
Similar Products Used:

Bike Setup:
2001 Rocky Mountain RM6, King Headset, Funn Head Huncho stem, Easton CT2 Riser, Hayes hydros, XT-Race Face drive train, Race Face XYseatpost, Titec Berzerker Dh seat, Atomic Industries 24" TrailPimp wheelset (black with black Xt disc hubs, silver DT spokes), IRC Kujo DH 24" tires 2.35 front - 2.25 rear, 2000 Marzocchi JR-T up front
Bottom Line:
This fork is pretty expensive, but I must admit that you can see why after one ride. The fork is amazing. It is so responsive...at first I thought it wasn't doing anything because I couldn't feel it moving...however it turned out the fork was just doing its job as I looked down at it diligently soaking up the small bumps. Climbing with it is a bear, as it bobs excessively. But that is to be expected. It is really heavy by itself, and if you add it all up with the rest of the freeride beast you will most likely put this on, climbing will be a taxing experience to say the least...but just eat your wheaties and take it as your XC buds leave you in the dust. However, it's ALL good when you get to the top because when you finally point downwards, your XC buds will have to make way for you as you rip and run over everything in your way under speed and most importantly under control. The same fork that was compliant on the small stuff will now show it's other side by soaking up the gruesome stuff ahead with the same ease. Honestly, it takes a long time to get the fork tuned right, but it is SOOOO worth it.
Only thing I would ask for is external rebound adjusters. If they ever did that at the JR-T level, this fork would be absolutely perfect...reasonable price, excellent quality, super quality of travel, stiff, sweet looks....what more can you ask for?
Despite the rebound gripe, 5 flaming chillies overall because the fork is too damn good anyway, and 5 flaming jalepenos for value as nothing else in the price range comes close.

A rather tidy little DMR Trailstar used mainly for 'free riding'. Single ring, grimeca disc, XT/XTR, good wheels and super grippy Conti tyres. A nice little package.
Bottom Line:
I bought these puppies after my Hi 5's imploded. What an incredible improvement! I'm riding things that I would have shat myself looking at pre-Bomber. I've swapped the fork oil for a 7.5-10 weight to add a bit more progressiveness and opened the rebound out to about 3.5 turns off full slow. Once these forks are dialled, they are unstoppable. The only thing to watch out for is the increased height of your front end-but that can be fixed with a different stem/handlebars or rings configuration. I've had these for about two days now and I can't beleive the improvement over the RST's I was using before. When I tested them out on a local downhill farm track I found that I didn't have to brake just to keep the front wheel down so I could steer round a corner, the JrT's kept the wheel dutifully glued to the substrate and I was able to blast down at full tilt with a big smile on my face and with none of the pneumatic drill type arm pump I was getting before. I've been using my XC styled Z2's on my hard-tail for about two years and after blasting down the typically rocky descents in the Yorkshire Dales, they have yet to need a service let alone develop any oil-leaks or any other problems. They are still as buttery smooth as when they first bedded in and I would expect these JrT's to be no different.

Back on topic, this fork is really worth the money. It seems to soak up the bumps so much better than my '99 Z.1 Drop Off, and is so much more rigid! The new dust wipers are beefy. I just wish I could slide the stanchions down a little to slacken off my head angle. Not a big deal though, as the fork can be set up pretty tall already.

Simple word of advice, the Jr.t is a sweet fork it, is plush and stiff and all the other superlatives, but it is nothing more than a Z1 with an extra crown and legs screwed on top of it. in an act of stupididty i rode with the legs pass the seam where they join the lowers and managed to shear off the fork, but that was pure stupidity. if you want the badass set up discard the upper crown and legs and you've got a z1 witha 20mm thru axle. I'm a freerider if there has to be a name for it. Living in Iowa meens XC riding, which is fine for your 140 lb. road conversion rider with 6% body fat. I raced BMX as a kid and XC is not for me or my friends, so we all went in on a 100 acre hunk of land which was once a ski hill. We built a bunch of trails with sick drops and nasty technical sections, ladders and basic north shore stuff. Some of the drops are 7 footers and a rock garden that kicks ass. My bike is a cannondale freeride that came with a head shok moto fr fork. The first run down DROP ZONE destroyed the shock. Cannondale told me that neither the bike or the shock was built for this kind of riding. So I bought a Judy XL. The drops proved to be way to much for this shock even with the stiffest springs available. Next came the manitou x vert, this fork lasted a month befor I bent both stanchion tubes. A friend convinced me to by a Marzocchi Jr.T instead of a Hanebrink LT-8. So far the Jr T has taken ever thing I've thrown at it. I put in extra firm speed spings and speed juice. The set up of the fork was a breeze. My friends all run Marzocchi now either JrT, MrT, or Z1 20qr. I'm buying a Kona stab primo next month and it will have a monster triple on it.

Waiting to bang my knees on it.
Similar Products Used:
Replaced 80mm headshok that was a joke for type of riding i do.
Bike Setup:
SuperV w/ discs
Bottom Line:
This is an inital impression review after two long rides. I bought this shock after reading all the reviews that described the bomber plushness. They were right! I got 127mm (5") of travel on the first ride and i could not tell you where on the trail it soaked that far. My biggest concern was the fork bobbing while climbing but it is not an issue. The fork has the perfect balance of initial firmness and super plush big travel. I'm a trail rider that likes to climb big hills then bomb back down the other side and this is the ultimate fork for me. You will not be disappointed!

Strengths:
Super smooth as plush as you want or firm. This thing rock in a big way.
Weaknesses:
Should have a little more clearence in the fork brace but I haven't run into trouble yet.
Bottom Line:
If you want a fork for freeride tis is it. A little heavy but is is so smooth its like having 8inches rather than the five.
