Strengths:Like Buttah! tuneability, rugged, look at the other reviews. the real reason I'm posting is because this fork is a frickin perfect replacement for a Cannondale head shock on Super V frames. Just get the low height adapter cups (not the high ones) and you will only raise it up 1/2 inch and after setting up the proper sag it is identical. Plus even though its a little on the heavy side, the C-Dale is probably 3/4 llb. lighter its weight is up high in the frame ( a fact Cannondale would never tell you)and the bikes handles considerably "lighter". In addition, it is 98% as stiff stearing so no big deal, AND you can escape the Cannondale prison of goofy and cheap cheap stems tha no one else makes. Don't cut the steer tub befor you know what you want in height. You will however be able to retain the 2 inch oem headset bearings which ARE good. This fork is much better matched to the Super Vs rear suspension.
Weaknesses:zip

I love the travel, and how easy it is to adjust the stiffness of the shock. Would have loved to get the Z1 but for the money I couldn't beat the Z3. If you are looking for a quality fork but dont want to spend a fortune this is the one. I will never ride anything but Zocchi's from now on. Strengths:Z3.5s
Very solid product
simple/effective
Weaknesses:adjustability
preload screws suck
Similar Products Used:manitou magnum (crapy)
bomber z2 superfly (high mantance, but very light, race with this one)
Bike Setup:spicer, all xt, mavic cross-link wheels (I go for the simple, proven, affordable and strong)
Bottom Line:I have the z3.5 LT they were oem from some unsucessful urban assult "P3" from Specialized. The fork is similar to the standard z3 LT just with lame preload adjustment and weaker paint job.

This fork is amazing, for along time I have wanted to try the LT forks from Marzocchi, but they have been so expensive. this fork was really cheap and I jumped on the deal at supergo.

All of the hype about marzochi freeride coil forks is very true. Small bumps are gone, big bumps are gone. The most amazing thing about this fork is being able to go strait at a knarly rock garden or series of root and have compleate control of the bike the stearing and breaking. Keeping you wheel on the group really equal safty and control and this fork keeps the front tire on the ground

I did swap out the heavy red spring for a vaiable wound pro-coil spring kit. I am a little bumed the weren't more adjustments available in this model, but after I set the viscosity, preload and got the new springs, the fork is dialed just right. This shouldn't be a problem unless you are a crazy racer or suspention freak.

I don't mind the weight, the ride and lack of upkeep more than make up for that. I have a lot of confidence in the strengh and stiffness of this fork. I am a bomber rider for life, all other fork brands look childish and weak. (well, until the next sweet fork comes along-I guess I am not that loyal)

Weaknesses:-Heavy

Similar Products Used:-Judy 100

Bike Setup:Intense Uzzi SL
Bottom Line:Wow!
I am a long-time Rock Shox user who, just recently, switch to the Marzocchi. There is a very noticable difference in stiffness and over-all feel between the two company's forks. The Z3 w/4" is an excellent choice for anyone who likes to ride hard and jump high. This is one hell-of-a workhorse and it's fairly inexpensive too. Big riders will really appreciate this forks stiffness.

There is no external dampning controls but the fork can be easily tuned to your needs by changing oil weight and springs. Do this once and never worry about it again.

If weight is a major concern, then you may want to get something else. I, for one, will never buy anything but a Marzocchi again.

Worth every penny. Buy it.

Bottom Line:I love(ed) these shocks
BUT - in order to mount hayes hydrolic disk breaks you must place on an adapter which adds one more piece of something to screw-up.
I now use manitou super x-vert which are one of manitou's best but still don't compare in my eyes to marzocchi.

The only problem I had with them was the bolts coming loose (no biggy, just monitor them as you would any other bike part)

I only wish the disk breaks would fit better!

Bottom Line:I've been dreaming about a marzocchi for a long time, I've paid 249 for this one the 2000 z3.5 which was stock on some specialized bike, I gave up the rebound adjustability but the price was pretty good (supergo) and I finally got a Marzocchi. well anyway it is just perfect for me, I'm not a great rider but his stuff gives me the confidence I needed, I even climb better, it just sticks your bike to the trail and 4 inches of travel makes it rock downhill. Changed my life on the bike for cheap . Really whichever one you buy, buy marzocchi the quality of construction and of travel so much better than competition. If you have cash go for a better model.

Weaknesses:If you care about the extra pound, then that.
Similar Products Used:manatou, RS, Zokes Z5 ('99)

Bottom Line:First off: I have been soliciting mtbreview.com to create a specific catergory for my shock- the 3.5- yes, it was an OEM overstock from Specialized that is out on the market now. This is the catergory that it best fits, so here goes:
Going from an older shock to this one was like my transition from no suspension to the older shock. Amazing how it soaks up everything from the big hits to the little ones. I buy my parts based on these qualities in order: reliability, durability, price, and weight. The Marzocchis fit that perfectly. If you want to lose a pound and pay 50-100 bucks more, buy the '00 SID (not the '98...). But with the company's reputation and product reliability, there is only one choice. Come on- 100mm travel in a four-pound wonder that cost under $250? Buy it if you can still find it. I will update if there are any problems!

Bottom Line:This fork soaks up everything that would hurt you. Great for big hits and landings. Not so great for the really small vibration bumps, but unless your old and can't handle it (you know who you are) this is a great fork. The absolute best for the price. Buy this fork if you want the best in long travel tech (MArzocci) at a price fit for a mountain biker, not a Lawyer. don't buy it if you are a high tech wieght weanie who has to buy components that are expensive just so you can say "this is the best and cost more than your's did", while in the back of your mind you're saying "and I'll never get to see its true potential because I can't ride that well anyway." this is a LT fork for the freeride masses. Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Its soooooo F***ing durable!!! At high speeds, or at the slow technical stuff, it just sucks up the bumps, and ALWAYS keep the front wheel where YOU want it! If that wasn't good enough, its a relatively cheap fork!
Weaknesses:No external Dampening ajustments (oh, boohoo), doesn't have the "Swiss Cheese" CnC'd arch.
Similar Products Used:Manitou X-Vert E, Rock Shox Judy 100
Bike Setup:Brodie Dynamo Frame, XT/LX Components, SR Suntour Cranks, LX hubs, F: Mammoth, R: Rhyno Lite rims.
Bottom Line:I've ridden it on and off on my friends bike. It absolutely blows away the Manitou X-Vert E that he used to have on it! The stock springs might feel a little soggy for heavier riders, but then again theres loads of aftermarket springs for bombers.

This is the ideal fork for:

-TRAIL RIDERS- who demand a fork that is durable, plush, and torsionally stiff. (like anyone wants a flexy fork!)

-FREERIDERS ON A BUDGET- This fork isn't quite as nice as the '98 Z-1, but is the best "bang for your buck" 4 inch fork on the market, PERIOD.

This is where it gets interesting. I bought this fork in Whistler to turn my stock trials bike into a flowriding bike (i.e, perfect setup for NorthShore riding). Now I have a sweet tool-around bike that soaks up roots, rox, and ladder rungs but light enough that I can still do trials moves on my bike (i.e, pedal kicks, spins, fishers, etc). High rise trials stem, Syncros riser bar, Rhyno lites with IRC 2.35 El Gatos....
Bottom Line:I surprised at myself that I haven't reviewd this fork yet. What an awesome fork!! It feels like my Jr. T, even tho it has 1 less travel. Same compression quality. I told the story above about what kind of bike I have this fork on and it just makes it a totally fun bike to ride. Great bike setup for trials, jumping, North Shore type flowriding, etc. Really stiff for a telescopic single crown freeride fork. And the best part, I got it in whister for I forget how much in canadian but it worked out to be $290 US!!! Marzocchis are the best forks ever, and I've ridden and owned A LOT of forks!!! Get one of these if you want more travel than XC but dont want a huge 5 like the z-1 and T's have.....

Bottom Line:This fork straight up ROCKS. I am 220lbs and I love the rigidity of the legs (who needs a double triple clamp). They don't flex with braking. The travel is all that is claimed, and slicker than goose doo on wet grass. The price is unbeatable for this much tavel. And they are relatively simplein design. I have 40 hours with out a peep. I changed to the heavy springs and was good to go (I like quicker rebound so I left in the stock oil). Crank the preload on long climbs, what bobbing? right out for the trip down. With out a doubt the best all-around fork on the market. especially if you're a beef eating Canuck!

Great Fork For the Price
A lot of travel
Weaknesses:
A little heavy but for the amount of travel there is none better.Cornering isn't as good on tight single track, but still better than Rock shox.

Bike Setup:
Trek 7000
Marzocchi Z3 LT
Bottom Line:This shock is great it is not flexy at all like rock shox. The seals work unlike rock shox Sid's wipers. The extra weight is nothing compared to the plush ride you are going to get. 63mm is too little to have fun on. I would rather have a rigid fork over a SID any day too! This fork corners a little slow but is good other wise. I think the amount of travel is what makes it track worse in corners. I would really suggest getting this fork if you have the money. ( I got my fork at JensonUSA for $299 the same price they had the Judy 100's and my local bike shop said I made a great choice because of the stiffness. And I can see that now especially compared to my sid.) Happy trails.Trials Rider/XC Rider
