As for flex, this is something I have not encountered. If they are set up properly they do not bob. If you need these forks then weight should not an issue, and if it is they aren't THAT heavy. If you can find them on the second hand market make sure you get them, if you have to buy them new then they are still worth every cent. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

It is kinda flexy. But why does that matter? I am confident that I will never break this fork. And I hope to be doing 8 to 10' drops (cement to cement) within the next couple of months. | | Similar Products Used: | Besides other Marzocchi forks there is nothing similar to its plushness and strenght | | Bike Setup: | K2 Animal, Z1 Alloy, RF, MRP, XT, Kore, King, Thompson, etc. | | Bottom Line: | I have really enjoyed this fork. I ride slalom and am planning on racing for the first time this year. I also do some freeriding as well. When I first bought this fork I had talked to some veteran slalom and DH racers. They all said that they use Marzocchi for slalom and freeriding, and a boxxer for DH. After riding this fork for about 6 mths I definately agree with them about Marzocchi.
No matter how much I have done to this fork, it is only asking for more. Waiting till its rider gets better and trys bigger jumps and sicker drops. I know I will not break this fork. And that is all that matters. I definately recommend buying this fork. One thing, there is no such thing as a 99' Z1 alloy, but there is a 98' Z1 alloy. Check the Marzocchi web site and you will see. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

| | Similar Products Used: | White Bros. 72 UL | | Bike Setup: | Intense Tracer w/XTR | | Bottom Line: | Super tunable plush fork. Might be a little tall for the type of riding I'm used to. Does bob a lot on the climbs and standing sprints. It also isn't the stiffest fork I've ever ridden. Would be nice if the legs were a little beefier to match the amount of travel. (Put the fork legs in your car bike carrier clamps and turn your handlebars a bit and you'll see what I mean.
BUT it is a fork that soaks up all the hits, and is easy to set up for whatever type of riding you're doing. Great long travel fork. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I still have that bike and fork. When I got my daulie, the very first upgrade I did to it was put on a Marzocchi. This fork improved the handling of the bike exponentialy. I have ridden over things on this bike that threw me with the previous fork. I don't care if people say the fork is heavy, I'm pushing clydesdale class anyway, so I need equipment that isn't afraid of a little abuse. I used to run the fork super soft, and have never bottomed it out. I now run it with a little slower compression, but I left the rebound all the way out. There is nothing that will ever make me buy another fork other than a Marzocchi. If you are an XC weight weenie, then don't buy this fork. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I'm in the process of changing the spring rates and possibly the oil viscocity to get a firmer ride. For a fork specifically designed for downhill riding it is too squishy and disappointing in performance.I am choosing to ride my Trek 7000 with a manitou Sx as I find it more reliable overall at race time. Will keep you posted on my results.Hope I can upgrade its performance as it feels of better quality than the manitou. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

The 4 of travel is such a luxury, I find that I can control the bike so much better. Rebound and preload adustments are excellent, allowing the fork to be tuned to the rider's weight and riding style (although I wish Marzocchi offered a choice of spring stiffness before the forks are purchased- I am pretty light and have the preload backed way off on the medium springs, so I think it would be better to be somewhere in the middle on light springs). I see a number of people complaining about the weight of the fork but I don't see too many 4 travel forks out there that weigh less, and those that do I seriously doubt that they perform as well as these forks. These forks also fit my pricerange nicely, $270US. | Overall Rating: |

My Indy SL was light but every time I bombed down a hill the damn thing flexed so much that it felt like it was going to break in half. Not very confidence inspiring! My Manitou leaked oil like crazy and was a pain to take apart every week to refil it or replace the seals. The bottom line is that I ride so much faster with this fork, the weight is a small penalty to pay for superior performance. I love the extra travel too, its nice to have on big drop offs and on rocky downhills. The Z-1 has saved my ass innumerable times where any lesser fork would have me eating dirt. I also like the Z-1 Alloy better than the Z-2 Atom Bomb because it has dual hydraulic dampners instead of a single one which makes the dampning much smoother and plusher. I'll never buy another Rock Shox or Manitou, Marzocchi is the only way to go. By the way, when I worked in a bike shop I realized that all the mechanics had Bombers on their bikes, that should say something. | Overall Rating: |

It's taken me a little to get used to and find the adjustment that I like. I had a 70mm atom bomb and was about to get heavy springs due to my weight. 190lbs. The Z2 was almost half compressed during normal riding. Then my wife rode the bike and loved it so I put it on her bike. I figured the Z1 alloy with stock springs would give me better performance. I was right. I like it. It compresses about 20-25mm when I get on and then provides more support. With 2 dampening valves it feels like it has a far greater adjusting range and the fork seems a tad firmer than the Z2. I'm liking this fork more every day and fits my riding style a little better. I even hope to race with this fork some.

The QR20 was awsome as far as stiffness. I had been using a Judy SL with Englunds. Once I rode the QR20 demo bike I knew what all the Marzocchi praise was for. I had to have one. Supergo had the Z1 Alloy on sale for $269 and the rest is history. | Overall Rating: |

from Pittsburgh, PA Date Reviewed: July 31, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | rollercoaster | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | It rides really smooth and has operated stiction free since the day i took it out of the box. | | Weaknesses: | A little more (or adjustable) compression would make the fork perfect. | | Similar Products Used: | Manitou X-vert RS Judy 100 | | Bike Setup: | RS Judy XC | | Bottom Line: | It is a great fork and i would reccomend this to anyone looking for a fork with four inches of travel. It's heavier than A manitou x-vert or judy 100, the extra weight of the Marzocchi is well worth the ride. | Overall Rating: |

from Philadelphia Date Reviewed: July 29, 1999 | | Favorite Trail: | Anything with dirt | | Duration Product Used: | less than 1 month | | Strengths: | Plush, stiff, looks cool | | Weaknesses: | A bit hefty, but who cares | | Similar Products Used: | SID's, Judy's, Manitou's, White Bros., most zokes | | Bike Setup: | Giant MCM 990 Full-Suspension, SPOX, Race Face/XTR. | | Bottom Line: | The fork is very plush compared to anything I have tried. I haven't owned mine long enough to comment on the reliability, but I am not at all concerned about it because I have ridden with other Marzocchi riders and they have never had problems. Awesome!!!! | Overall Rating: |
