Strengths:not too heavy external preload and rebound adjust
Weaknesses:not great tyre clearance, qr20 system works but can damage when over tightend
Similar Products Used:boxxer race, junior t
Bike Setup:big hit comp mono 6 tis single tracks...
Bottom Line:This fork is dam good! Baught it in 05 for 250 quid! Which was half the price of things like 888s, and they have veryt similar damping (just no external compression), and i think if theyre set up welltheyre good matcj for any dh fork just dont have the travel for a really heavy rider. ive raced with them and beaten plenty of guys runnig brand new top notch things like 888s, boxxers world cups etc and theyve never bottoedout and i weihg 12 stone! Little bit of flex under braking (with my hope 6 pots !!!) Effective rebound adjust is very useful, light enough for pulling manual back hopping of stuff, 180 bunnys hops and all that kind off pissing around!

Strengths:buttery blush, and exellent compression, also the hscv cartridges are relativly easy to use and work on, light for such a well built dc fork. These soak up the small stuff well and take large hits good too.
Weaknesses:more adjustments would've been nice

Bottom Line:Great forks for all applications...'cept xc..., takes small hits no problem, no lateral flex, have bottomed out on 12 footer(i have medium springs in it, and only weigh 140) i dont know what the bozo jt below is talking about, the stantions are strong as hell on mine, no scratches or dents after some strong hits, so i have no regrets whatso ever about this fork, an exellent buy, and i would recomend to anyone, espically if you fide boxxers right now, i like these waaayyy better.

Strengths:04 version has adjustable lower crown
So much better than Juniors and cheaper than Boxxers
Weaknesses:Low oil height
Seems to twist somehow when crashed but pops back
Integrated fender crown
Crappy manual!

Bike Setup:04 Shore with Super T and Fox Vanilla RC, Maxxis Highroller 2.3 Tyres and 50/60mm integrated stem.
Bottom Line:I've been using these forks for just over a month now and am very impressed with their performance. They've had a lot of trail use and racing and they never seem to stop working. Even when they bottom out it doesn't feel too harsh, drops and bumps are handled fine and adjustment is quick and easy.

But there are a few minor niggles:

The standard low oil height is a pain in the arse but to be honest it's bearable, it's not like it costs much for a bottle of oil. When I crash them they twist but they easily pop back into place, I don't know whether this is due to the integrated stem or pinch bolts but its bugging. Not a major problem though. Next theres the lower crown, I hate it. It looks good and everything but I dont like how small the fender is so I would rather fit another one, however the huge crown stops me mounting some types of fender as the support struts cant get around it. Finally the manual is crap, I really wish Marzocchi would just print a small manual for each fork rather than killing the worlds trees producing a telephone index that you dont have a clue what your reading about, took me ages to find the rebound controls because the diagram was frankly rubbish.

I would still recommend them though, none of their problems are worthy of moaning about and at least they dont need tuned from the box unlike some others...

Price Paid: $300.00

Strengths:smooth, stiff, they look invincible, look good.
Weaknesses:Much heavier than I thought.
Similar Products Used:Z1 wedges, 2002 junior T's, (tested only) shivers and 888's.
Bike Setup:Stinky, XT, Hope, super T 2003 with integrated stem and diabolous oversize bar.
Bottom Line:Just bought these 2 weeks ago. These are very nice forks. They compliment a 6 inch travel bike nicely, as they are not too long. Tried out 888's on a demo 9 and they made that feel raked out, so I settled for these. They feel twice as strong as the junior t's. I've heard people saying that junior t's spiked, and didn't understand what they meant untill I bought these. If you were to hit a series of small bumps and then a large one the junior t's would stop working and jar your hands off the bars. With these, they stay buttery all the time. I rode a track I normally ride and ended up waiting for my mates for a whole minute and a half. They turn trails with baby head sized boulders in to a smooth chute. I don't know how the people above broke them? they make the head tube on my stinky look puny. The nicest thing is you can hear the valving working away nicely as you ride rough trails. Tried jumping my most feared drop with it. The drop might seem puny to some but my skills aren't top notch. The drop is about 5 feet high and over a blind grassy jump with a tarmac landing. It made the jump seem easy. I've only got to watch out for the extra speed it's allowing me to carry. The weakness is that it ways a whole pound and a half more than my old junior T's(yes I did remove the ste). This means that if you're riding 30 milers like me you'd better be prepared to put in the leg-work. Very good for the weight conscious do it all'er. Like a big fork in a small package(It feels like a miniature 888).

Strengths:Simple design. Didn't break. Like the black look. Good dampening. Good price.
Weaknesses:Tire size restrictions. Comes with too soft springs for anyone over 160lbs.
Similar Products Used:Lots.
Bike Setup:Norco shore, now with Shivers.
Bottom Line:I saw below someone said an Intense DH 2.7 will fit. If you run a reasonably wide rim they will rub. Even with a narrow rim it must be tight. You don't want to run it in the mud. I've found anything rated 2.5 fits, most 2.6 and a few 2.7s fit. The Intense 909 2.7 does fit with a pretty wide rim. Kenda Kinetics 2.6 and Kenda Blue Grooves fit, not sure about 2.7 Nevegals. This is for the '03 model only, not the 04.
If it was not for being so narrow, I like the fork. I've since purchased a Shiver for the tire fit issue.

Weaknesses:weak, skinny stanchions that crack and break.
Similar Products Used:Psylo, 04' Shivers
Bike Setup:rm7, 26/24" f/r
Bottom Line:I thought that I was buying a "freeride - downhill" fork, as the chart on the Marzocchi web page and on the box. But after using it for only one summer, maybe 15 days riding, the fork snapped in half. It didn't crack or bend or creak or flex... the entire fork snapped in two pieces directly below the lower crown. I luckily escaped any injury from this, unlike a young kid a week earlier in Calgary who had the same thing happen but he smashed his face open in the process. As I went to get some coverage by the manufacturer, they told me it was such a freak occurance they won't cover anything. This was the response from the Candadian Marzocchi representative, everyone's favorite bike/parts/repairs monopolist "NORCO". I have yet to speak with an actual Marzocchi representative but having Norco represent them is an embarasement.

I highly recomend the Shiver line of forks from Marzocchi, but nothing else. I will never touch anything from Marzocchi that has a 32-35mm stanchion... especially that death trap the new 888.

I also ask that everyone not buy/support anything coming out of the Norco banner. They have become the Wal-mart of the bike industry in Canada, but with them "customer service" is their absolute last priority.

I have pictures of the faulty forks, and I am more than happy to share them with anyone that wants to see the garbage that is the Super T.

It'l take drops like nothing else, and super smooth on the decents. Skip the Jr. T and get the Super. Weaknesses:? I haven't found anything to whine about yet.
Similar Products Used:Zoke Jr.-T, Zoke wedge (crap), Fox Vanilla RL
Bike Setup:Stinky w/ lots of upgrades. Basically a Stinky D-Lux now.
Bottom Line:This fork truly is the nutts. I scraped the Z1 that came stock on my Stinky for a Jr.-T several years ago, and that was a nice upgrade, but the Super-T is definetly in another league than the Jr. The Jr-T is a wobbly wet noodle compared to the Super. I've beeen doing fast 4 foot to flat drops without any problems, so maybe the complaints about oil/spring weights depends on the indivdual forks. I believe that Jenson still has them for $550, and I would STRONGLY encourage any Jr.-T owners to fork out the cash (pun intended) and buy the Super. I can't spray enough about the difference. The QR-20 works great, and the 20mm axle makes a HUGE difference over a standard 12mm QR. Go buy one.

Strengths:The superT is Very light weight for how strong it is. Seven inches of travel is great for ridin rocky trails or hittin big drops and lets not forget downhill. 20 mm axle is a really great feature too.
Weaknesses:Marzocchi doesn't like to tell you that for someone who weighs over 160,(like Me....he hem 200) you really should uprgade the oil to 10 wieght and upgrade at least one side with a stronger spring. It was bottoming out and making a loud noise off of the big hits. (extra 130 bucks cuz I had to oil and both sides with new springs). Also if you use a integrated stem that comes with the shock and you crash and bend your bars, normally the stem spins with enough force, with the integrated theres no way for your bars to spin and a few riders I know dented frames because of this.

Strengths:-damping is greater. It really responds to the kind of terrain or riding that you are doing.
-QR20 is very stiff. I instally noticed the difference versus a fork using a QR system.
Weaknesses:-I have some doubts over the reliability of the QR20 plus, but only time can tell. To go downhilling, I have to remove the whell every weekend for the bike to fit it the VAN, I'm just not so sure if the QR20 design will hold-up for 3-4 years of use which is how long I plan to use this fork. I will post again to update on this issue after more time with the fork.

- tire clearance is very limited. Just to add to the list of useable tires, I'm using in with a Duro Leopard 2.6 with Mavic 131 rims with about 3mm clearance on the M-arch.
Similar Products Used:Owned - 2002 Marzocchi Z1 Wedge

Bike Setup:2002 Bullit, Super T, avid mechanical Brakes, Mavic 121 rims, Duro Leopard Tires, ringle Front hubs, XT rear hunbs, Shimano group.
Bottom Line:I wanted a set-up that I could use for generally XC but it should also be comforatable when going downhill. Using a 7-inch fork up front, adds to the burden of going uphill, but more than makes up when going down. The added weight and smaller turning angle require some getting used to.

I instantly felt the better plushness of this fork versus my old Z1 wedge. Sometimes, I mistakenly feel that I have a flat up front because of the buttery feel when I hit an obstacle, especially after the fork had broken in.

I still have to polish my technique but the drops are a lot easier to do with this fork on my Bullit.

The 2003 version has HSCV on both legs, versus the 2004 which has an SSV on one and HSCV on the other. This prometed me to purchase the 2003 even after the company announced their 2004 line-up.

I highly recommend to those who wants a good compromise between performance and weight for a good freeride, DH fork.

I must have gotten lucky on the oil height because mine was OK. I was told Marzocchi actually ships them low on purpose to protect the seals.

Weaknesses:Can't adjust head angle because lower crown is cryo-fit. Tire clearance is not an issue for me, never run more than 2.5. Travel should be full 175mm instead of claimed 170mm, and people tell me is actually even less. But, I haven't bottomed out yet.

Bottom Line:Compared to my 01 monster the travel feels more plush. The tire sticks to the trail better. Don't know if it's the unsprung weight improvment or damping, but the super t is better. It does feel less rigid torsionally, but so far I don't notice any difference in tracking through the rock gardens. At 2.5 lbs. lighter, the super is way faster in and out of corners and through quick "S". Finally, dropping from 46ish to 44ish lbs. helps a little on the climbs and in fact with the 5th E and the rohloff climbing is not a big deal any more.

Strengths:Fork is incredibly stiff, gets full travel, and soaks up big hits and rocks like nothing.
Weaknesses:When I first bought the fork it bottomed out on most 4ft+ flatlands but was easy to fix, just incresed the oil level with some 10wt. Now the fork gives smooth travel and ramps up at the bottom of the travel.

Bottom Line:This fork handles whatever I throw at it and still doesn't way a ton. Since I increased the oil level I have launched a loading dock and landed only on the front wheel and it still doesn't bottom.

Strengths:*Total re-design of classic Marzocchi fork
*No noticeable flexure (relief after using 2002 Junior T!!)
*Great damping system
*Integrated fender and stem options
*new QR20PRO axle is very neat
*Look dope in matt black!
Weaknesses:*Expensive compared to Junior T QR20 (£370)
*Limited tire clearance
*No adjustment on stanchion position (i.e. head angle)
*Stock springs too soft
*No compression damping adjustment
Similar Products Used:2001 Super T Pro

Marzocchi Shiver DC
Bike Setup:Big Hit, Sun rims on Hope/Gusset hubs, DMR cranks, Tioga cube stem/bar, Easton post, XTR, Mr. Dirt Gizmo, blah blah....
Bottom Line:First up we need to address this guy's comments from an earlier review:

"The QR20pro is really odd. You don't need tools to undo the dropouts, but you DO need an allen to loosen the axle to pull the wheel out. It holds the wheel very securely, but they need to figure out a system that uses NO tools to remove the front wheel. The current system seems very half-assed."

I don't know if he doesn't understand the system. You undo everything, slacken the bolts right back, push down on the front wheel and it falls free from the fork. that's it..simple? You really don't need an allen key..that was the whole point of their redesigning the QR20..

Ok, to get on with the review:

1) they don't feel or ride anything like the 2002 forks. This is a good thing, I felt the 2002 forks had too much travel for their 30mm stanchions, my 2002 Junior T was SO flexible and wobbly that I sold it after only 4 months.

2) The new 2003 forks have a totally new design, they increased legs to 32mm, have 2 new crowns, the lower crown is cryrofitted so no more head angle adjustments by sliding the legs up or down in the crown, but the cryofit makes the whole fork feel totally solid so its a good trade off.

3)HSCV damping. This is the same system used in the expensive Shiver DC fork, but with a smaller oil volume. It seems to work very well. You have the spring preload and rebound adjustment controls on the top of each leg, but no compression control which is a shame compared to Boxxer Team forks, but what the hell? The Super T works so well just leave it alone and ride..

4)the stock springs are way too soft. I only weigh 11 stone (sorry don't know what that is in KG, maybe 85kg?) and bottom out the fork in my local woods that are not a very hardcore place to ride. This year they have 2 sets of springs per leg, the importers suggested replacing 1 spring in each leg with "firm" (they come with "standard") and this should sort out my problem. the springs are only £18 for a pair which is cheap, I'm more worried about taking the forks apart and swapping the springs, but I'll deal with that when I get the springs..

5)tire clearance..Marzocchi need to look at this for the European market as we have mud all year round! I could easily fit a Maxxis High Roller 26"x2.5", also a Nokian Gazzolodi 26"x2.6" fits ok but there is little clearance for mud..guess I'll have to ride so fast all the mud falls off then..

6)Integreated components..I have to speak about this. Marzocchi took away all the fender mounting headsches by having Acerbis (top MX plastic people) make a minimal fender that bolts into the underside of the crown with 2 little bolts. This is totally neat, and seperates your aheadset lock-rod and fender mount into 2 seperate things.

The integrated stem looks good too, my friend is running one on his Shiver DC now that X-lite, Kona and Specialized are making the 31.8mm bars to fit the Marzocchi stems. I can get either 0mm extension or 70mm extension, which is either too short or too long for my bike (I run 35mm Tioga cube which is perfect). I can get the bigger handlebars, I will speak to B.E.T.D. (Goldtec) about making a custom stem about 40mm long with direct mounts for my top crown. I rode my friends big hit with shiver DC and integrated stem, the whole front of the bike felt flex-free, none of that waggle when you pull on the bars or turn into a corner. nice one marzocchi!

Overall, its still early days and I haven't had the change to do some proper DH riding, but I've been building large jumps in my local woods and riding it all over London and it feels SO MUCH BETTER than my Junior T that the extra $$$ was worth it. I nearly got the 2003 Junior as it uses the same stanchiosn / crowns as the Super T, but was only £370 with QR20PRO axle. All the riders on www.southerndownhill.com pursuaded me to get the Super T, saying the HSCV cartridges were well worth the extra £130. After riding the fork I agree, thanks guys!!

Anyone looking for a tough, super stiff, plush and smooth DH / freeride fork but doesn't want the weight and bulk of a Shiver DC, or the flimsy Boxxer Race, check out the Super T Pro..Marzocchi have made another classic!

Strengths:Bigger and stronger than last year.
Weaknesses:limited tire clearance, poor brake housing routing
Similar Products Used:Z1, Jr T
Bike Setup:03 SC Bullit
Bottom Line:A strong, rigid fork with quality travel. Travel is just over 6.5" (Factory rated 170mm = 6.69inches). The larger stanctions and monocast lowers provide a huge amount of controllablilty which is simply confedence-inspiring.

As a larger rider (220+lbs) I thought the stock springs would be too soft. But after doing a lot of urban riding with large drops to flat, the spring rate seems good for overall conditions. I may upgrade the spring rate in the future.

The dampening works great and offers good rebound adjustability.

With a 2.35 Intense DH tire, the clearance in the arch is comfortable. However, running a 2.5 will be close, and I'd like to know if it is possible to run a 2.7 because I don't think it will fit.

No rim brake bosses, and good riddence. But the disk brake housing clamp doesn't work well, and causes the housing to touch the stanchtion.

I'm also impressed with how light the fork is at less than 7lbs.

The QR20pro is really odd. You don't need tools to undo the dropouts, but you DO need an allen to loosen the axle to pull the wheel out. It holds the wheel very securely, but they need to figure out a system that uses NO tools to remove the front wheel. The current system seems very half-assed.

Overall, a good fork for the money. With better tire clearance I would give it 5 out of 5, but we'll just have to wait for the next year.

Strengths:Stiff as I've ever felt, 32mm sanctions and the "monolight" one-piece arch are all the differences in the world, QR20 Pro system is "confidence inspiring" with its burlyness. The integrated direct mount stem (idiot-proof) and the metallic silver color is the shiznat
Weaknesses:None yet, oil height was a bit low, but that was fixed after a ride or two... Oh yeah, the infamous tire clearance issue, it is TOO small, Zoke needs to address this issue, it is the ONLY weakness in the new redesigned 03 lineup
Similar Products Used:01 Zoke Z1 MCR (130mm)

Bottom Line:First off, this is my first dual crown fork, I upgraded from a 5" SC Zoke (see above). This fork along with the 24" wheel I put on the rear of my Stinky made my bike big hit capable! The geometry is perfect, I am doing larger drops than I thought I ever could (or would!)
Wow, this fork is so ultra-stiff. The first thing I noticed with this beast is how much faster you get through the rough stuff! Just point, keep cranking the pedals and shoot it! Very stable and the tuning capabilities are enough to handle your urban junts over to 7-11 or a session at the local drop park. THE BOTTOM LINE: The stiffness means more predictability which means more confidence in your runs.
As for the tire clearance, as several other reviews of the 03 Super-T Pro said, Just throw on a 2.6 Gazz and go... 5 stars and 5 stars, I highly recommended to anyone with a little bit of psycho in them(you know who you are) -- get one while you can

Bottom Line:This fork gets the job done. You can't really ask for a better fork in this range. The travel is very smooth and seemingly endless for a 7" fork. Substantially more durable than a boxxer and better than the sherman, your only decision is weather it is worth the extra dough for a Monster T. If you get one, make sure you tighten down the adjustment knobs before you ride!!!

Strengths:Stiff. Ultra smooth travel - there is NO stiction. They don't lie about the amount of travel - it's all there to be used! And it looks the business. I had the oil changed from the start to suit my weight.
Weaknesses:Turning circle.
Arch restricts tyre size (I guess this was a deliberate design factor to make us buy a Shiver or Monster-T).
