Favorite Trail:Boqueirão da Serra
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $400.00

Strengths:Strong, stiff, long travel.
Made in Italy.
Really pretty.
Soft and sexy like a pus*$*#*.
Weaknesses::) Sorry, ask to Boxxer's and 888's owners.
Similar Products Used:Another 2003 Monster, 2001 monster, 2002 monster, Super T, Junior T, Z1.
Bike Setup:UMF Freddy, Fox DHX 3.0, Truvativ, XTR.
Bottom Line:I made a old review (see dow), but it was a mistake because the fork had hard coils. Now I bought a brand new Monster 2003 and it has the original coils, than it is really soft like 2001 and 2002 monsters.

It is heavy, but I'm to...

The best fork ever.

Strengths:Massive, Squishy, Scares away dogs, and can go over small volkswagons.
Weaknesses:Heavy, but who cares, its my bike.
Similar Products Used:Showa suspension?
Bike Setup:2003 Norco A-line, 321 on the back, Alexrim on the front, monsters, Fox RC, Minions, Hayes 9s, ODIS, Raceface cranks, Formula hubs.
Bottom Line:These things are freaking huge. With a 2.7 tire on it, theres still enough clearance to pretty much fit another tire on each side, it could probably take a 3.7 tire if it really wanted to. Its a little bit heavy, but who cares, you get used to the weight anyways. Overall, this fork KILLS. BUY IT NOW.

Strengths:This is a follow-up post from 6-10-2004. This fork has seen it all, from the flow park @ South SeaTac to massive stump drops in Duvall to endless runs @ Whistler and beyond!! Still on its original seals and wipers too! Did have the oil changed and the fluid level professionally adjusted a few months into ownership and this fork has been rock-solid reliable and SAVED my bacon more times than I can remember. Burly, heavy, and worth every penny and ounce of extra sweat needed to haul it up to the top of the trail because you can literally bomb down with speed and cofidence. Oh yeah, it handles the manly drops with ease, makes you a more confident rider!!
Weaknesses:2 years into ownership, I can honestly say with full conifence...NONE!!
Bike Setup:02 SC Super 8 with the full ridiculous heavy weight pacakge. 55 pounds of pure aluminum rocket sled!!
Bottom Line:Get 1.

Strengths:very plush once its broken in
i have never bottomed out on this and i have landed some pretty nasty things
a couple times i should have gone right over the front of the bike but this thing took it all in and i barely felt it
Weaknesses:heavy heavy
very bulky but it looks impressive
Similar Products Used:kona stinky w/marzocchi jr T

Bottom Line:awesome fork although it makes the bike feel very off balanced. when you go off a drop you have to pull back hard on the front or go off with a lot of speed otherwise it just drags the bike strait down and puts you in a very uncomfortable position were you just have to hope that you dont faceplant.

a little pricey but i think it was worth it.

Strengths:Totally bomproof. This fork can, and will take anything. I love how plush the fork is, and how tall the fork is (I ride motorcycles, so I like my fork tall). Oh yeah, and it really isn't that heavy. I can't wait to take it to Diablo, and Plattekill.
Weaknesses:Hmmm, let me think. NONE

Similar Products Used:never had any that were bomb proof, this is my first dual crown fork
Bike Setup:2001 RM6, 2003 Monster T2, and all the rest of the stuff that goes with it
Bottom Line:The bottom line with this fork is that it is a great biggener fork due to so weight issues, so it's not as manouverable or as good for racing as say 888r's or a super t but if you can get use to the weight and use ways to manouver the weight then i would suggest this fork because of the bomb proof capability and that it can prevent you from making a mistake on a drop, plus they look bad ass and will make any bike look like a chopper.

Bottom Line:this is an update to my previous entry.
this fork is wonderful. i have taken a 4ft. drop to flat asphalt and it honestly didn't feel like much more than a foot drop. unfortunately i stripped out the little air bleed screws on the top caps. YOU CANT PUT MUCH TORQUE ON THEM. so i am waiting for new ones.
also suggestion bleed the air out of both legs before every hard ride. it really makes a difference. sounds like opening a soda bottle when you loosen the screw.
weight has not been an issue. if anything it helps you downhill. more inertia. anyways great deal on pricepoint.con go there i think they have some left.

Strengths:This fork tracks brilliantly.
It simply shrugs off any off-camber sections and can take any serious DH track with ease.
The adjustability is superb, and you will struggle to bottom the fork out, but will still get very close to full travel.
They're shorter (axle to crown) than 888's AND stiffer.
Weaknesses:Some would say weight (while riding it in the carpark...) but that's not an issue when riding DH.
The brake mount is a bit of an issue, I'd have preffered an IS mount... but hey, an adaptor fixes that issue.
Similar Products Used:Boxxers, White Bros, Z1's
Bike Setup:Avanti D8
Bottom Line:I've noticed people complaining about not achieving full travel...
Well guess what guys - you haven't set your fork up correctly! Either buy new springs or learn how to adjust the high + low speed compression... or hey - maybe try bleeding the forks!

These are the most serious fork I've ever used. I broke my last 3 forks (bent or snapped) and wanted something that could take my muppet riding style... and guess what!
It does!!

-No flex
-Massive amount of mud clearance
-Tight turning radius
Weaknesses:Disk mount is set up for 74mm hayes mount. I had Shimano XT calipers that wouldnt fit, so I had to buy a Shimano Saint Caliper for 120 bucks. This was an inconvenience for me, but isn't muxh of a weakness.

Bottom Line:This fork is amazing. It can handle anything you can throw at it. I have done 8-9 feet drops to flat with it and it stands strong. I have done 12 foot drops with transitions and it stands strong. Despite it being heavy I can still do wheelies very easily with it (It takes some getting used to though). Strengths:Burly, durable, 40mm stanchions!! What more needs to be said. The craftsmanship on this piece of "modern art" is fantastic. I just upgraded from the '03 Z1 FR because I kept bottoming it out. Probably won't be able to bottom out the Monster!! 200mm of travel is a bunch. Was initially worried about pedal bob on CC climbs but not a problem here. This fork is so strong and stiff in its engineering that I'll probbly snap the headtube off before I damage the fork. That's a strong fork!
Weaknesses:None at this time.
Similar Products Used:03 Marzocchi Bomber Z1 FR, various Manitou products
Bike Setup:GSR Hooligan DH HT built for speed.
Bottom Line:Moving from the 130mm Z1 FR to the 200mm Monster has expanded the wheelbase of my rig quite a bit, but after a few aggressive rides, I've adjusted my positioning and adapted accordingly. This is my first triple crown fork and it was worth the wait! Some might think that a fork this big on a hardtail is ridiculous, but I beg to differ -you have to see my hardtail. I kept finding and exceeding the limits of my previous forks, so now I think I've met my match! I have been a Marz fan since my '03 Z1 FR and will stick with them for many more years to come.
I highly recommend this fork if you're looking to soak up the BIG bumps.

Weaknesses:i've heard that the dampining and rebound controls dont do much but i'm going to have a look at those when i get back on sat cause originally i found the fork a little too stiff sometimes but that was probably cause i only weighed 10 stonne

supper solid, saved my ass twice on fort william where i would have gone over the bars but they soaked the shoch up,very thankful since i wasnt wearing chest armour.if i had the chance to buy a different fork i would have still chossen the monster.not too heavy, really stiff and can really help progress your riding confidence and skill to the next level

Manualing is more difficult, but the fork jumps well, drops well (no nosediving). The bike steers better and the fork goes where you point it, which is scary when you add in how stiff it is- the fork tracks straight over 8" logs. Caused me to crash because they inspire (too much) confidence. These really are the best fork out there for 250 pound plus downhillers and component abusers- I will report more after more time on the forks.
4 for value as they are expensive, but i did swap them for my boxxers.

Bottom Line:THIS IS A FOLLOW-UP AFTER MY FIRST RIDE: There is no way I can do justice to this fork in writing. First, the weight is ABSOLUTELY not an issue! It enabled me to go so much faster that I could have sworn it was lighter than my Boxxer. I didn't even mind it in the pedal sections. I see this fork shaving a lot of time off my beginner/sport racing days. It is definately a must for ANY downhiller/freerider that just rides (no racing). My friend was ripping the weight UNTIL he actually took it down the mountain. He has a Boxxer and previously said the Monster was too much fork for him. After one run he said he needed to get one. Bottom line, I never felt the added weight! Second, it defines PLUSHNESS! The damping made me speechless. I was able to take ANY line at speeds I had never attempted before with the upmost confidence. It tracked perfectly. No obstacle could defelect it. It allowed me to blow through sections that I used to brake through. My Boxxer used to rattle my teeth loose. The Monster saved me from a lot of upper body fatigue I used to experience. This fork saved me from numerous potentially dangerous scenarios. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS FORK! I would have paid twice as much for it. Another rider said I would never have to buy another downhill fork, and he's right. It's performance far exceeded my wildest expectations. GO OUT AND BUY THIS FORK (especially you big boys)!

I'm confident that this is the only fork for guys over 200 pounds. I plan on racing it in the beginner/sport class. Worried about the weight? Just get off the couch and lose some fat to compensate for the extra pounds! Think of all the time and money you'll save when you don't have to send it in to get repaired every other ride!

Bottom Line:This fork absorbs all the stress, my eyes dont rattle anymore at high speeds. Marzocchi makes the best mountain bike forks, seals last unlike other previous forks that i have wasted my money on(non-marzocchi).

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Purchased At:Trade for my 03 Shiver
Strengths:Stout. Last week I did almost 8' to flat concrete and busted a spoke on my Trailpimp. Bottom? Not even close! I went downhilling at Killington Vt. and this fork just ate everything. Aparantly nothing except Avalanche holds a light to this fork for bottom out resistance.
Weaknesses:I'm having a not too pleasant knocking sound when I roll over stuff straight on(headset's not loose and all the crown and arch bolts are tight and lock-tighted). Also Marzocchi had a discrepency between the blueprints they gave to Hope and the finished fork. I spent almost a week on the phone trying to find out why my calipers would not fit to the rotor with the adapter. Eventually a tech at Hope found out that the prints didn't match up with the actual fork when Hope recived it. They needed to make a new 218mm rotor in order for the calipers to grab the rotor in the right spot. No one at Zoke knew how to resolve it and no one got back to me to see if they could help, or if there was something they should know after I got my rotor.
Similar Products Used:03 Shiver
Bike Setup:03 Bighit DH, Hope M4's, Monster, Trailpimps, North Shore DH's, Steelset, XTR everything, Loveseat, Ultracross risers, Intense lock-on's, Avalanche, you get the picture.
Bottom Line:Super sweet fork. Can't say enough about it. Will take anything you can give it. Your body will give out before the fork will. BUT, Marzocchi customer service BLOWS! I had a bad deal with them about my Shiver when I first got it. Now this crap obout how no one knows anything about how to resolve the problem with my caliper not fitting the fork because they f@cked up is just completly out of hand. I've talked to a few other shops and i'm hearing just about the same thing from most of them. Maybe it's isolated to just my area, but I doubt it. Hopefully they smarten up, but it's too late for my case 'cause next fork I'm buying is an Avalanche. The low onerall Chili rating is for the service, not the fork!

Strengths:MONSTER
Nuff Said. This thing is like a skidder in the woods. It knocks down trees. I slam into jagged rocks, plow over anything in its path and it just keeps going.
Weaknesses:Rebound/Compression H/L have little effect for slow trailriding. Seem to only affect the bottom end of the travel. I have switched to 10W oil as well and no difference. I'm not sure the adjusters do anything at all, but Marz says that it only really affects big hits and such.
Similar Products Used:Boxxer Race. Had it for a week. Does not compare to monsters. I don't know I diddn't use the boxxer for too long to say anything real bad about it. I've just heard they are unreliable
Bike Setup:Stinky 9 03. Nuff Said
Bottom Line:This thing rocks. I could give 2 F's about the weight. Too many pansies out there. I pedal this pig of a stinky everywhere. Uphill, downhill. Yeah it's heavy, but isn't it reassuring knowing you could pedal right through a brick wall if need be. This think is just AWESOME. I will not ever use any fork again for a big-hit bike besides the MONSTER. I don't care how much it weighs. I'd even use it for DH if I raced DH. AWESOME fork. 1 Star for Marzocchi for their lack of a technical manual for this fork.

Strengths:Extremely stiff...just aim and shoot type of thing.the new internals work real good, really keeps the front wheel glued to the ground!
Weaknesses:actually not 200mm travel. if you push the lower crown up to the max level the distance from seals to bottom of the lower crown is 195mm(i have checked another fork...same deal) So, not actually a 200mm fork....big lie!Plus all my compression and rebound adjustments seem to have no affect on the forks performance. E-mailed the guys at marzocchi twice for tuning tips of advice and no reply

Bottom Line:this fork is tough!Saved my ass a couple times already. When I got it it bottomed out real easy so I added an extra 10mm of oil to each leg and now its great. I thing it shouldn't be sold as a 200mm fork if its not...it's probably 185-190mm max.Al said I really like this fork and am very happy I bought it....just now my bike weighs a ton..but its all good!
