Strengths:
Thrashed, trashed, and crashed for over two years of technical type freeriding. Bullet proof, fun, and reliable bike except for rear shock mounting stud.
Weaknesses:
As above, stud attaching rear shock to swingarm would always come loose, then threads eventually stripped out. Tried to contact Marin numerous times but they never responded. Finally made one out a stainless steel allen head bolt and solved the problem myself. Mavic wheels, would break 2 or 3 spokes every ride for the first couple of months. Chain falls of middle chainring too frequently in rough terain. Lots of Marin or no name pieces, but so far all are reliable and functional. Threw away VP clipless pedals in favour of old reliable Shimano 747's. Stock IRC Notos a bit too XC oriented for a bike like this. Put some knobbies on it.

Bike Setup:
X-Vert Super ( awesome fork ), Fox RC coil over, XT everywhere else where there isn't Marin brand stuff.
Bottom Line:
Fun, takes a ton of abuse, and has never made me walk home. Not a XC light weight bike, not a heavy duty drop bike, but an excellent weekend warrior "let's go for it bike" My best purchase in years.

Strengths:
The manitou front shock is awesome - very plush set-up as well as the rear Fox shock. The seat isn't too bad either
Weaknesses:
Everything and anything Marin - what a poor weak company. I raced it a few times and light DH courses and broke the rear swing arm, the pivots ovalized, the chain drops - it needs a chain guide which is really hard to put on due to the swingarm geometry. All the components are weaker then weak!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This bike is suppose to be in the 2000 dollar range. The handle is poor, cornering is poor, the geometry -- they better go back to school on that one and take a math class or something. The sales rep was unhelpful the company is the worst - I will never endorse or buy there products again. Bike is not worth 2000 glad I only paid 1200

Intense but not even close when you some similiar maybe the fact that both are bikes - at least that is what Marin claims
Bike Setup:
Mostly stock, changed to disc brakes a freeride bike without thm come on guys, chainguide and change the tires to tioga they stick like intense the ircs are good for -hmmmmm nothing
Bottom Line:
Dont buy it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They clain there frames are good - that would justify the price but they aren't and the components are overseas trash. Are they a real mountain bike company - I don't think so little guys playing in the big world - they had a little box van no booth at the nationals!!!!!!!

Strengths:
Sweet geometry
Weaknesses:
Weird 4"-5"-6" adjustment mechanism for rear suspension... If you need six inches in the back, this bike is probably too lightweight for you (ie. You're gonna trash the poor thing)
Bike Setup:
Psylo fork, Hayes discs
Bottom Line:
Climbs like a charm. It's light, but it rips on downhills - soaks up lots of chunder and rubble. Perfect freeriding bike.
