$2200.00 | | Purchased At: | York | | Strengths: | great looking steel frame built by the American masters. Very light, and the fantastic paintjob gets looks all around the trail (or is that just my amazing body ;-} ) | | Weaknesses: | steel may rust if not looked after well, especially in wet old England!! | | Similar Products Used: | mates alu frames and full sussers - they just don't compete woth the pure quality of a decent steel frame! | | Bike Setup: | 'zzochi marathons, LX, XT and new SRAM trigger shifters, Titec, Mavic, Maxxis and Formula discs | | Bottom Line: | If you want a strong, decent, light frame with the unique characteristics of steel, then this is the bike for you. Don't try too much stunt riding, and it'll last you ages. With decent components, this can be a race winning frame or an all day hacker. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1300.00 | | Strengths: | Light, responsive steel frame. Hayes discs brakes are excellent. Classic Paint Job. Good all around. | | Weaknesses: | Fork is soft with so-so handling. Brakes have had some drag. WTB pedals do not have smooth action. | | Bike Setup: | stock | | Bottom Line: | A nice, simple, affordable and reliable cross country bike. I ride weekends and a few extended trips to the sierras and have had a great time on this bike. It's light, handles well on the whole, although the fork isn't great at speed. The brakes are confidence inspiring, but I have had some drag problems. The shifting is acceptable but could be better. I wouldn't recommend this bike for someone who wants great downhill or big bump performance. I would recommend this for someone who rides cross country and wants a no frills solid performer. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1300.00 | | Purchased At: | Missing Link Cyclery | | Strengths: | The steel frame is very responsive. Hayes brakes have amazing stopping power. Color scheme for frame is nice too. | | Weaknesses: | Shifting front derailer seems a little sloppy. Tuned it up, but still seems loose. | | Similar Products Used: | Treks | | Bike Setup: | Stock except for pedals | | Bottom Line: | This bike is great for the kind of riding that I do. Weekend trail riding and occasional longer XCtrips. I like the componets on the bike except for the LX front derailer, which for me seems kind of sloppy when shifting. Other than that, I love the Skareb front fork and the way the bike handles. It's relatively light frame makes it easy to climb. And I love the hardtail response! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$1300.00 | | Purchased At: | King of The Mountain Cycles | | Strengths: | Excellent steel frame, very light, very responsive. Hayes brakes are amazing, as is the Skareb Elite shock fork. Seat is very comfortable. The pearly paint job is very nice. | | Weaknesses: | Uncomfortable stock handlebar grips... (I had to think about that one) | | Similar Products Used: | Marin Muirwoods (97) | | Bottom Line: | If you are interested in a very nice steel frame, that is lightweight and strong- and you think that disc brakes are just the coolest thing ever.. this bike is for you. The bike handles very well, even for a heavy person like myself. I tip the scales at about 215lbs, so finding a bike that handles very well is not the easiest thing in the world to do. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
