| | Weaknesses: | Weight Lack of travel for a light rider
| | Similar Products Used: | Fox F100 | | Bike Setup: | Giant ATX 860 | | Bottom Line: | These forks have been great for a novice rider. They are now 8 years old, never cleaned, never serviced and until several months ago were still coping with the rigours of Mt Wellington. Have now upgraded to higher spec bike with Fox forks but the Spyders will live on (having totally seized), on my road bike. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

from Toronto Date Reviewed: November 4, 2002 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Strengths: | Fairly strong, longevity, fairly plush, doesn't seem to bottom out. | | Weaknesses: | Some flex, no control of rebound, damping etc. Cold weather seems to affect it a bit (not as bad as some people make it out to be though) | | Similar Products Used: | Marzocchi Bomber, | | Bike Setup: | Gary Fisher Kaitai - mostly stock. | | Bottom Line: | I am 5'11" and 150lbs and I found that this was a very decent shock. I did mostly X-country riding and it worked fine. I bought it used about 6 months ago (the shock is now 5 years old) and it still works great! Doesn't bottom out, but instead doesn't seem to go through full travel. It's a good beginner shock, but I wouldn't recommend it as an upgrade shock. (not that anyone would consider this old a shock an upgrade unless they're riding a huffy). | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$150.00 | | Purchased At: | lbs | | Strengths: | simple, cheap, easy to maintain, relatively well mannered | | Weaknesses: | almost no adjustment, temperature has a substantial effect on suspension stiffness | | Similar Products Used: | Rock Shox Judy XC 01, Manitou SX-R 01 | | Bike Setup: | GT Tequesta hardtail | | Bottom Line: | Surprisingly good for such a primitive fork. The damping characteristics of the elastomers is suprisingly good. Not much travel, but a nice complement to a XC hardtail. Becomes noticeably stiffer once the temp drops below 50 deg F. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
