Our least expensive Sherman, the Flick’s ultra strong steel steerer tube and impeccable TPC damping system make it the choice for some of the world’s most abusive Freeriders.

This fork is definately worth the price, I'm glad I didn't pay the $500 that a 2006 model fork would have costed me. It's perfect for an all around fork. Definately recommended.

These forks are sweet for trails and jumps. They offer a smooth, plush ride for agressive downhill riders. I weigh 140 and the forks are PERFECT for me. They do not handle big drops too well, but with some tweaking, that can be changed. Awesome fork for the money, I reccomend it for anyone into downhill or cross country.

Bottom Line:
A very solid single-crown fork. I have the urban cammo version. It's unique, and is good at disguising minor scratches/blemishes on the finish. It's a bit heavy, but more material equals more durability. The travel adustment takes some getting used to. After adjusting the dial from 90->130, you need to slightly compress the fork. With practice, semi-skillfull riders should be able to do this on-the-fly.

Hey bonehead, the Sherman Flick is a oil and coil fork. What would you be doing trying to put air in it? Duh! If you're going to B.S., at least do a better job, huh? Start by actually learning about the product.
And the other guy who gave it a 1 rating because he broke it on a one foot drop...try losing your beer gut because you either bought a bad fork (probably on the used market), or you need to lose weight, or you're a liar because Shermans would not snap that easily.
These are obviously anti-Manitou/pro-Marzochhi dips trying to lower ratings unfairly. So I will counter by giving 5 stars all around. Shermans rule!

Stiff as all get-up. Change the travel at a flick of a switch. Built to last. Big metal adjuster knobs, no plastic in sight. Easy to work on at home.
Weaknesses:
A bit heavy, but everything's a trade-off. Damping too fast for my own liking (fixable)
Similar Products Used:
Too many to list
Bottom Line:
I'm using the quick release axle version on my all-mountain bike. They added a bit of weight but I'm happy to pay that penalty for the extreme stiffness and steering precision that comes with such a strong fork.
I weigh 85kg and found I needed the firm spring. I also changed the stock damping oil from 5 to 7.5wt (ignoring the manual's advice) because I was getting a lot of brake dive and bounce with the stock oil. This sorted it all out.
The travel adjust is excellent. Just a quick flick from 90 to 130mm. Much better than Psylos, Blacks etc. where you need to wind about 10 complete turns. Plus you can do it on the fly rather than having to get off the bike. I generally leave mine on 130mm and use the 90mm setting for only the most extreme climbs.
One tiny little thing I don't like is the miniscule allen bolts used for securing the adjuster knobs. I guess they wanted the heads to strip before the threads on the adjuster rods, but on a fork of this weight why not beef it all up a little and have no weak points?
But I have to say, I lurve this fork. Nice one Manitou!

- Shermans are currently stiffest single crowns available. No B.S. - Post mount disk brakes = no flex = responsive brakes - Hex design 20mm front axel = no flex = precise steering - Quick travel adjust can be changed while riding
Weaknesses:
- Reverse arch can't take a fender - 2004 version only has TCP dampening. 2003 had TCP+ - Travel adjust knob can get a little sticky
Similar Products Used:

Bottom Line:
Stiffest single travel fork available. I've had the 2003 version of the Flick for 4 months now (2003 Flick was replaced under warrantee after I broke a lower in half after hitting a tree at high speed but we don't talk about that...). For whatever reason Manitou dropped the TCP+ damping in favour of the standard TCP damping. In this respect, the 2003 Flick might be a better fork. On the other hand, they increased the travel height adjustment so it goes lower.
I like that you can adjust the travel on the fly with just a quick flip. The Psylo takes 20-30 cranks to lower the fork which is just not practical.
If your over 170lbs and do drops over 5' you'll need a spring upgrade.
Bottom line: Stiff yet light, smooth and responsive, relatively cheap. Buy it for advanced XC to Freeride. You won't be dissapointed.

I've used these forks for six months. I've jumped with them, dropped, hammered down wet and dry downhills, scared myself through rock gardens and they just soak it up. They are so stiff and planted, even with little setup. I've quickened the rebound a little and firmed the damping a touch but thats all. No problems found with the seals and we get a lot of mud in Yorkshire. One little thing they do take a while to break-in around 20 hours the manufacturers recommend but i found they worked well in break in and then superbly after. Buy these if you...Jump, drop, freeride?, downhill. Bit too heavy for XC'ing though.
