$11.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | Compared to the shock-jacket I have been using from gebali.com… I no longer see any strength in the lizard skins booty. | | Weaknesses: | The lizard skins booty doesn’t keep out water, retains water that does get in, doesn’t work for muddy rides, sits RIGHT on the SHOCK, and just doesn’t do all that much for the price… not to mention, for the money it’s a pretty cheap design. Use a SHOCK-JACKET from gebali.com, they work soo much better! You will see what I mean if you check out their site! | | Similar Products Used: | Shock-Jacket from GEBALI | | Bike Setup: | Stump Jumper FSR, Fox Rear Air shock, Sid SL, XTR | | Bottom Line: | I ride and have raced, and have spent a lot of time trying to protect that little rear shock! I used to have to have to rebuild it and clean it all the time! I happened onto a site called gebali.com and bought one of their shock-jackets… it works so well (so much better then the lizard skins booty). They are made out of waterproof breathable materials (like gore-tex), extremely light-weight, HAND MADE, and look really good! I am always a little hesitant to take a chance on something new that I haven’t seen before (especially online!)… so when I find something like this, from a really neat little company, I want to share it with everyone! My advice is DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON A LIZARD SKINS, get a shock-jacket from GEBALI… they are well designed, high quality, and work really well! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

Take your cover make sure it is clean, infact just buy a brand new one so it is definitely clean. Take it and spray both sides of the cover. Make sure it is sprayed evenly. let it dry for atleast 2 hours and dont tocuh it. then put it back on ur bike and its water proof. just make sure it is dry first cuz there are a lot of chemiclas in those sprays!!

$19.00 | | Purchased At: | Bike Planet | | Strengths: | Cheap, Easy on and off, Keeps dirt and mud out of my Fox, | | Weaknesses: | Measure and cut may be a pain for some people, Designed like a cylinder when it should be designed like a cone for air shocks. | | Similar Products Used: | NONE | | Bike Setup: | 02 Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC | | Bottom Line: | When riding in mud and dirt a little cheap insurance on a part that costs as much as rear shocks do is a good thing. I've already had to pay Fox once for a rebuild on my float due to an unrelated problem. At one hundred a rebuild I felt twenty bucks of cheap insurance was well worth it. The sleeve will absorb water so when riding in mud it's best to take it off and let it dry when you get home before you put it back on. Just brush the dried dirt off and your good to go. I still feel that lizard skins should redesign this product one for coil built like a cylinder and one for air built like a cone so it fits an air shock better. Oh well I'll just use it as is PEACE! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$10.00 | | Purchased At: | LBS | | Strengths: | It works as it should. Cheap insurance. | | Weaknesses: | not waterproof | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | '03 Specialized Rockhopper FSR Comp, Fox Float R shock, still stock for now. | | Bottom Line: | With all the horror stories about dirt getting into the Fox Float shocks, I decided to buy a little cheap insurance to keep it clean, so I got the 6.5" shock boot. I cut a 2" section to cover the bottom of the shock and secured it on the little flange above the seal on the Float R with a zip tie (don't really trust velcro, and zips are cheap) so I can still adjust rebound/air pressure and the vitals are protected. The LBS was out of LS headset covers, so I cut another section from the shock boot that stretched around the lower headset seal too, and so far it has stayed there. Bonus: there's enough material left to do the whole thing again. Definitely try this product if you have an air shock. Even if it doesn't last for years, it's only 10 bucks. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$9.00 | | Purchased At: | Gregg's Cycles - Greenlake | | Strengths: | Great value, effective, greatly extends shock life, easy to clean | | Weaknesses: | Not water repellant. | | Similar Products Used: | What similar products? | | Bike Setup: | 2000 Specialized FSR XC, stock, except saddle. | | Bottom Line: | While some Lizard Skins products are really just gimmicks (Bar end cover? Chainstay cover? Puleeese!) Their rear shock boot really does the trick. By keeping dirt out of the rear shock (especially for those of us w/air shocks), it keeps the shock performing well and extends it's life greatly. For about $10, it's terrific value (a new rear shock will cost you at least $200, last I checked). The only improvement I'd like to see them make is the material. Neopryne (sp) isn't water repellant (it actually seems absorbant) prefer material that keeps the shock dry and clean, not just clean. Apart from that, this product is a great investment. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$8.00 | | Purchased At: | SuperGo | | Strengths: | Light, simple, does the job | | Weaknesses: | If it had a plastic coating on the outside to keep the water from soaking into the material, that'd be great. No big deal! | | Similar Products Used: | Plastic Wrap (Plastic Crap... don't try it.) | | Bike Setup: | Trek Fuel 90 Disc. Stock Fox Float rear air shock. | | Bottom Line: | This does the job. When I bought my bike it had a dent in the down tube. While Trek sent me a new frame I rode around on the bike without a shock boot. Within 1 week the fox air shock developed a gnarly squeak and growl, probably from some fine dust on the shock. When I finally got my replacement bike the first thing I bought for it was a Lizard Skin shock boot. I've had it about 3 months now and my shock is like new. Here's a tip!!! When you cut off the excess material to fit your shock, don't throw it away. Use it to cover the bottom of your headset just above the crown. In my case it's the perfect size to keep dirt from getting in the bottom bearings that the front wheel throws up. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

By the end of the ride it was just one wet muddy sack! But the shaft was clean! You may get away with not having this on an oil shock but an air shock?
