Duration Product Used:
More than 3 years
Price Paid:
$1500.00
Purchased At:
Tantalus
Strengths:
dual suspension, fairly lightweight, for the female rider, decent parts.
Weaknesses:
No lock out shocks
Similar Products Used:
Norco Fluid, Specialized XC.
Bike Setup:
full suspension. Frame tubing: Aluminum. All mountain bike 4" Travel Fork: Marzocchi Rear Shock: Fox Float.. 3" travel. I use this bike for everything. I ride to work everyday, rain, sleet or sun. I ride the trails ... mostly blues. I have gone to the Whistler Bike Park too.... I haven't had any problems with the bike... except when I crash and break stuff. Tires are ok. a little skinny for the trails in Squamish. Mind you it is a trade off.... as I do ride on the road at times... and have many hills to climb. I have had to replace 2 tires, a brake lever and a shifter in the 3 years I've ridden this bike. This has been a great bike for me. My previous bike was a norco fluid... heavy ... too heavy for me. I've also ridden a Specialized XC which has a shorter wheel base than the Kona and has full lock out .... I liked the ride...
The Kona Lisa is a great bike for the serious beginner rider. You want to get off the green trails and hit the blues. Even if your just starting out.... this is a great ride.... if you plan to use it as a mountain bike. I think this bike is a little much if all you plan to do is ride the smooth "easy trails"... why spend the money on a full suspension... get a hard tail.
Bottom Line:
The Kona Lisa is a great all around versatile bike for a beginner to intermediate rider. It's durable and light enough. It can handle almost anything you throw at it. The lack of lock out shocks is a weakness.... but I didn't really notice this until I took a lock out squishy out for a ride.

Duration Product Used:

Price Paid:
$1600.00
Strengths:
Excellent cornering, great braking, handles extremely well through technical terrain;
Weaknesses:
shifting is somewhat slippy from time to time; slightly heavy
Bottom Line:
Great bike for trailriding. This was my first full suspension. I was looking for something with great bells and whistles for under 2k, and this bike fit the bill. I use this bike through extremely rooty terrain. Handles well through switchbacks. I always feel like I AM riding the bike, it doesn't ride me. I love this bike, it's one of those...that no matter if I get another bike, it will always have that special place. I will always talk up Kona bikes. Great buy indeed!
