Proven design time and time again (just ask Robbie Bourdon, Dave Watson, Joe Schwartz or Grant Allen, among others). Kona knows how to make solid bikes, especially the ones meant to go mostly downhill.
Apart from the lever issue (see below), the brakes on this bike are unbelievable, both in terms of power and modulation. They absolutely destroy Hayes HFX9's or Mags (as do my lowly Deore hydros with 6 inch rotors, on my Bear). | | Weaknesses: | Kona JS grips replaced with ODI's.
I'm still wrestling with the whole XT dual lever concept. I don't mind the shifting, but I still feel a bit nervous applying the brakes on fast, rough steeps since the brake levers have so much up and down play. I may end up replacing them with good old rapidfire shifters, but I'll at least give the XT's a chance first.
Kona's warranty still causes me some concern, although this is the 5th Kona I have bought, and I've never had a frame issue.
I'm not sure about the QR20. A simple bolt through axle might be stronger, and I don't think you save much time removing the wheel from a QR20 front end, since you still have to yank out the allen wrench.
I've bottomed out the Super T a couple of times on some flats. Not a big deal, but I should probably check the oil level and even considering replacing it with a higher weight. My rear spring (550 lbs.) seems about right so far.

Everything else completely stock. | | Bottom Line: | For those who say that the Kona single pivot design causes brake jack and excessive pedal bob compared to the Specialized FSR rear end, and who claim to have sufficient riding experience with both, I raise the BS flag. In addition to the Kona's I've owned, I have 2 year's worth of riding an FSR with a Horst rear suspension, which of course is touted by all the magazines as being the sh#t. Although others may disagree with me, at least I speak from hands on experience. I'll take the Kona suspension setup over a drop or down a steep, over an FSR setup, any day. I don't notice any significant difference between the two pedalling uphill, although I use my tricked out Bear (also with single pivot rear end), and not my Stinky, for cross country riding. The Stinky is reserved for chair lift riding only. So far, I like.
