Paul Basagoitia is a Kona Clump member, who now has his own signature model. This slopestyle competition bike was designed with Paul’s input, and has found itself on the podium throughout the year. We took the liberty of sharing the name with a delicious fish rather than spell out his entire last name … our apologies to the Basagoitia family tree.

okay, I must be the only person to own a KONA A!?
This frame is a 20inch version of the BASS, with KIKAPU geometry. It has SS rear drop outs. No cable runs, vbrake or disk brake. SOLID as a tank...like the BASS of COWAN DS.
Fun bike, some about KONA's...simply solid fun.

Strengths:
This bike is more than a dirt jumper. It has qualities of an all-mountain bike (because of its roomy cockpit and long top tube), but a short rear end that makes it stable off of jumps and stiff for slopestyle comps. It also can be adjusted out to be a great downhill rig for smoother trails. I found the DHX shock to be awesome and the stock setup to be durable and not that heavy (35 lbs).
Weaknesses:
Why gyro tabs?

Bike Setup:
Stock, except it has a Lyric DFR (115-160mm) fork on it. I am running larger 2.5" dh tires.
Bottom Line:
This bicycle has proven up the beating of urban rides and drops, as well as the large doubles at my local BMX track. I have hucked a couple 10 footers (to non-flat landings) and with the fork I have on it, the geometry is just right for more aggressive downhill (it has a 67 headtube at the 160mm setting and a 69 at the 115, with the medium size). The bike is flickable, and the paint job is second to none. I would highly recommend this bike to someone trying to find one bike to rule them all. I even did some XC with the seatpost, which comes long, stock, so I could pedal well with the propedal in the rear. If you have any questions about setup on this baby, let me know. Otherwise, buy one!!! Awesome stock setup, great suspension, reasonable pricing.
