$1200.00 | | Purchased At: | George's cycles | | Strengths: | Tange Frame (I know, made in Taiwan...but boy do they know how to weld, if it wasn't good, Kona wouldn't use them right ?) Component mix is good and the A drive and B drive tyres are awesome, wish they still made them. | | Weaknesses: | for the price, none at all. | | Similar Products Used: | Kona stinky, Raleigh, Giant, Dawg, | | Bike Setup: | xtr derails, 9 spd. rocket grip shift, Race face bar rings cranks and bottom bracket, USE seatpost, Magura hydro rim brakes, Mavic cross's, speed springs in the original fork from '94. | | Bottom Line: | I've been riding this bike since '94, all over the Northwest and it's phenominal ! I've upgraded out of personal preference and not from breaking parts off. The geometry is awesome and the frame is forgiving, responsive and very tough, very nice welds. You can't go wrong with any Kona bike and the fact that mine is still going on ten years of hard single track speaks for itself ! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$975.00 | | Purchased At: | Mystic Cycle | | Strengths: | Beefy, extremely comfortable. Steel frame is great to ride and sloped top tube protects family jewels. Light for steel. | | Weaknesses: | Not the lightest, but this is built to ride, not to weigh. | | Similar Products Used: | Specialized Stumpjumper M4 | | Bike Setup: | XT rear, LX front, Marzocchi Bomber Forks, Avid brakes | | Bottom Line: | This bike is perfect for someone who loves to ride but isn't doing time trials 7 days a week. It's not super heavy on the budget and can take a beating, but it's still fast enough to race if you've got the legs. Steel has a great feel to it vs. aluminum as well, and I love the beefy shocks. For the price, with good components, you can't beat it because after a day on the trail, this bike will leave you feeling good instead of jarred. I am really happy with it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$250.00 | | Purchased At: | A dude | | Strengths: | Steel, very forgiving, turns like crazy, Ritchey drop-outs. | | Weaknesses: | Paint chips off easily, the welds look so-so. | | Similar Products Used: | Steel Schwinn Sierra circa 1990. | | Bike Setup: | Front suspended XC race, 1" RF riser, full XT, RF crank. | | Bottom Line: | I love this frame. It is a pleasure to ride. The weight is decent for a low end steel frame, the handling is excellent. It flows thru the technical stuff. I bought the frame only and x-ferred all the parts off of a 10 year old C-dale. What a difference!!! Aluminum? Save it for my favorite beverage.....National Bohemian! I don't know what type of steel, it is just marked as Kona Chromoly. Made in Taiwan. That was a disappointment, but the only one. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
