from Pretoria Date Reviewed: August 6, 2003 | | Duration Product Used: | 6 months | | Purchased At: | Sponsered | | Strengths: | Very light and stiff! Responds well if you put the hammer down out of the corners. I'm a sponsored racer, but I know how much it retails for and nothing comes close. | | Weaknesses: | Top tube should be welded in line with the seat stays, that will increase its strenght. Broke at seatstay, BUT will be replaced after I wrote this review of a great bike. | | Similar Products Used: | Name it, I rode it. | | Bike Setup: | Magura Marta disc brakes( So good and light) Marzocchi fork (not the lightest, but you will have no trouble at all) Truvative Stylo Team (Shifts bettr than anything I tested, chose it above new XTR) XT shifters( Hate the new XTR, must be a reason the pros aren't racing it) XTR rear D. Mavic Crossmax Disc, Time ATAC. | | Bottom Line: | I rode a Cannondale Scalpel last year and miss the rear suspension, but the the KHS makes up in its responsiveness out of the corners. Climbs GREAT! You can't get better for the price! Great deal. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$525.00 | | Purchased At: | iforgot.com | | Strengths: | KHS Alite 4000 frame is stiff with nice geometry and the "powerstay" rear triangle is unique yet useful. Perfectly welded and reinforced. Nice paint and decals, too. | | Weaknesses: | Guess What?!?! Aluminum is stiff! | | Similar Products Used: | Trek 8000(XT groupo), Trek 930(STX groupo), Iron Horse MT400(XT groupo) | | Bike Setup: | Bought frame and built it up. KHS Alite 4000 Frame, 02' FOX Forx Float RLC, XTR 9-spd Rapid-Fire Shifter/Drive, RaceFace BB (x-county, ISIS), RaceFace Next cranck set (ISIS), TIME Atac Carbon pedals, KING headset, Thomson Stem/Seatpost, MAVIC 517's w/XTR hubs, plus other goodies.... | | Bottom Line: | Very Tight! I was planning to get a Trek 8500 or Specialized Team hardtail frame. Trek and Specialized were over priced. For about $500-$900 it's the nicest frame I've seen. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
