Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $700.00

Strengths:the bike is pretty good but right after i got the bike i changed the rims and levers.the bike is good at jumping and some downhill trails.
Weaknesses:Forks stiffen up in cold conditions so they are terrible and brakes need have better hydrolyicbrakes and when i got my bike they came with plastic pedals.also hadle bars get bent easily because they are so thin.
Similar Products Used:i used a Specialized big hit 1 FSR and a specialized enuro,specialized p3 and a cannondal f600
Bike Setup:trail or for city
Bottom Line:THIS BIKE SUCKS BALLS

Date Reviewed: June 3, 2002
Favorite Trail:El Corte Madera Open Space Preserve
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $400.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:price
Weaknesses:pedals, front derailleur?? 5th 2hr+ ride and the front derailleur throw my chain off twice on downhill gear changes. Component or gear selection is the problem?
Similar Products Used:Specialized Hard Rock with no suspension
Bike Setup:http://www.rei.com/cgi-bin/ncommerce3/ProductDisplay?prmenbr=8000&prrfnbr=11901987
Bottom Line:This is my first bike and I was looking for the best bike for the $$. I fell in love with the Gary Fisher Hoo Koo E Koo but it was too pricey. With the 20% off sale at REI, I ended up with something to keep me on the trails. My frame: 7005 aluminum performance hardtail frame. Derailleur: 8-speed Shimano Deore rear derailleur and an Acera front derailleur
Brakes: Tektro linear-pull brakes and Acera brake levers
Tires: Strong WTB SpeedMaster 11.3 rims mounted with WTB VelociRaptor tires
Fork: RockShox Judy TT front suspension fork

Date Reviewed: May 5, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $329.00
Purchased At:oshmans
Strengths:PRICE... The frame feels nice and stiff to. Good componets for a starter bike.
Weaknesses:Shock sucks @ss but at that price theres no such thing as a good shock.
Bottom Line:It's not made to hold up to downhill comp. but at the price you can't go wrong. It's my first bike since 94 and that one was bmx so i figured if i didn't like mtb's i wasn't out much money. excelent starter bike.
