from Calgary, Alberta Date Reviewed: June 20, 2009 | | Duration Product Used: | More than 3 years | | Strengths: | The factory specs on this bike are excellent. The derailer, disc brakes and I love the front suspension it comes with. You hardly have to upgrade anything. | | Weaknesses: | Honestly, I haven't found any as of yet. $ for $ this bike is definitely one of the best on the market. | | Bottom Line: | In the 4 years I have had this bike I have only ever replace the accessories. I still have all the original parts. The parts I have replacedI do alot of city riding so I guess I don't ride it to the extreme but it is a very strong and durable bike. The parts I have replaces have all been wants and not needs. I have replaces such items as the bike seat, pedals, rims, and tires. All else has proven the bike to be a very good buy. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$450.00 | | Purchased At: | REI | | Strengths: | Strong Frame, Disc Brakes (when they were new), Great slate to build a xc ride, or dirt jumper on. | | Weaknesses: | Replaced shifters, crappy heavy components overall, but you get what you pay for and it is a reasonable entry level bike | | Similar Products Used: | Kona Dawg | | Bike Setup: | SS (SIngulator), raceface xc cranks, crank bros pedals, hayes nine hydraulic disc brakes, marzocchi drop off fork, kenda nevegal. | | Bottom Line: | this was my first mountain bike and I kept it around ever since. I knew i couldnt get its moneys worth if i sold it. This season I had to sell my Kona Dawg for cash and decided to rebuild this bike with some outdated, quality components. I turned it into a dirtjumper/hardtail downhill. My lack of finances was a blessing and I doubt I will ever sell this simple, durable rig. Great frame, cheap components, If your looking to buy one new then research some other products, if you come across a used one it could be a nice find depending on what comes with it | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$450.00 | | Purchased At: | Joe Jones NH | | Strengths: | Very Very Nice Frame, Light Frame, Great Colors Great Shifters Nice Grips | | Weaknesses: | Handlebars, Seat is way too hard | | Similar Products Used: | K2 Zed 1.0, Speciailzed Big Hit, Specialized Hardrock, Speciailzed Stump Jumper, Trek 4100, Trek 4500, K2 Attack, Tomac, and much more | | Bike Setup: | Stock | | Bottom Line: | This is a great bike, just get a new seat. I have used it for Downhilling and XC and it puts up fine. Drops everything. K2 is a great company for the $ and I highly reccomend this bike. Just buy a new seat. The frame is ultra string and light too, just like the K2 Razorback. 5/5 | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$360.00 | | Purchased At: | bikesmart.com | | Strengths: | this is a good all round bike. i took it jumping in the dirt hills and it came out without a singal sign of wear. it is also great for those rough trails but at the same time a great crusier. | | Weaknesses: | i for one, hate the handlebars. they are riser bars and are feel very flimsy. also the shifters seem to be slightly bulky and the grips have already started to slip off. I would recomend replacing the handlebars before they crack when your in the middle of nowhere, and while you at it put in a couple extra bucks for the grips. | | Similar Products Used: | none | | Bike Setup: | it is a good bike for beginners or intermidite bikers | | Bottom Line: | the k2 zed 2.o is still a great overall bike that can handle anything you throw at it. despite the bars the bike has all great parts and i have had no trouble with the estentials. plus it looks great. i was intially nervous about the shocks being rst instead of rock shox, but the rst gilas are very nice and respond in excellent conditions. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$460.00 | | Purchased At: | REI | | Strengths: | Inital bike purchase is inexpensive. Light frame. Handles well. | | Weaknesses: | The single greatest weakness of this bike is K2 the company. EXTREMELY poor service! Don't bother writing an email or contacting this company in any manner. They are highly unprofessional and completely unhelpful. I wrote K2 to advise of the problems I was having, their response: This bike was not made for mountain biking. This bike is built to be cheap. The rims are so cheap, that I have had to replace them after having them trued 4 times. The stock tires are poor. One of my tires has a bend in it, I call it my "Z tire". The bike could be worse, but I doubt the K2 Company could! | | Similar Products Used: | Diamond Back - No problems Mongoose - Simular problems | | Bike Setup: | Replaced the rims with Mavics w/Dieore disk ready. Stock everything else. | | Bottom Line: | Buy this bike as a cruiser. Do not plan on this bike holding up to a "Mountain Bike" ride, it will let you down. Don't pay big bucks for it either. If I had it to do again, I would drop another $100 for a better bike. Do yourself a favor and heed my last sentence. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$250.00 | | Purchased At: | Oshmans | | Strengths: | First off i dont know much about bikes, i am a begginer to this sport. Although i have had other bikes i still dont know alot about them. I think the best thing this bike has going for it, is the up-hill climbing ability, and the fact that you can ride this bike about anywhere. I am the type of biker that likes to go into the city and trick off of stuff. I took my k2 zed 2.0 into the city thinking that i would break it in half. I managed to jump of several drop offs the peaked at 6-7 feet tall, without damaging anything, i also landed fairly smoothly for being that high! The shox are really nice! | | Weaknesses: | The Derailleurs just plain suck! The shifting is fine if you are on flat surfaces and going slow. But try going fast and shifting its impossible. Try going up hill and shifting its even worse! That was the first thing i changed on this bike. The Derailleurs are very easy to change out on this bike it is an added option! | | Similar Products Used: | none really | | Bike Setup: | SHIMANO XTR REAR DERAILLEUR, and a new set of rims, seeing as i bent mine jumping off of stuff! | | Bottom Line: | This bike is cool. It had a nice appereance, and it has everything you need and nothing you dont! This bike is way in price range and for this price can be used for some one like me thats just starting the sport to tear the bike up! | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$380.00 | | Purchased At: | mc.banks bike shop | | Strengths: | this bike is great for the rider that loves to do every thing from downhill to cross. this bike is one of those bikes that you can upgrade to the point that the bike wont even be a K2 bike. i have put at least $1500.oo into it and now it looks like a downhill bike with out rear suspention. The bike is great and i recommend it and is worth the ampunt you put into it. | | Weaknesses: | the only weakness i found in the K2 Zed 2.0 was that the frame is a little small and it didn't come with rock shox | | Similar Products Used: | a similar bike that I think verymuch feels and looks like the K2 ZED 2.0 is the GT avilanche whitch is also a good bike... | | Bike Setup: | the K2 ZED 2.0 is a solid bike with NO F*** ups, unlike the ZED 3.0 & 4.0 whitch were recaled. the bike has been mistaked for a KONA many times. ("if stickers r tookin off") | | Bottom Line: | the K2 ZED 2.0 is great and you should go get one your self and try it and have a great time doing it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
