Favorite Trail:gambrill state park
Duration Product Used:More than 3 years
Price Paid: $650.00
Strengths:I've had this bike now for about 5 years and its great! any problem that has occured with the bike has been because of my own negligence.
Weaknesses:after 5 years the handle bar grips and seat are going to need to be replaced at the end of the season. not bad for 5 years of riding!!! i'd buy this bike again if they still offered it in the paint scheme i got it in (yellow and black)
Similar Products Used:gary fisher advance, gary fisher paranah, trek 4300, trek 4500
Bike Setup:BONE STOCK
Bottom Line:This is a great bike for someone who's looking for a great hardtail with no gimmicks. i've hit everything from paved trails to some appalachian mountains (south mt. & braddock mt. maryland*)and the bike has been nothing short of exelent.

* note: trails were gambrill state park and greenbrier state park as well as the frederick watershed.

Favorite Trail:City Bike Paths
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $300.00
Purchased At:REI
Strengths:Gear shifting is really easy, very attractive, light, comfortable seat, very easy to ride.
Weaknesses:The hand grips are uncomfortable.
Bike Setup:I changed the hand grips because the stock ones were uncomfortable and I added shortie bars.
Bottom Line:I just got this bike a few weeks ago and I am a beginner. I love riding it. It is very easy to use and light enough that I don't struggle at all with it. I ride it on the bike trails through the city and it's great so far! I am looking forward to many years riding this great beginner bike!

I think it is a great value. And I got the Orange one (which is actually Yellow and not Orange at all).

Date Reviewed: August 13, 2003
Favorite Trail:any XC trail
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:400
Strengths:great value, light frame, nice color scheme, good brakes and tires, good front derailleur, good warranty from Sportchek, comfortable seat, decent shocks for bike's price, the bike gets noticed anywhere you go.
Weaknesses:weak chain - i have broken 2 chains in 3 months, in which i have not rode the bike real hard.
seat - fabric staples covering the seat have come out in some spots.
gripshifts and rear derailleur - these have been nothing but problems to set up correctly... use rapidfires!

Anyone else who has or is having these problems please email me!
Similar Products Used:lower range Norco hardtail products
lower range Giant hardtail products
Bike Setup:the bike is still completely stock, although i have a set of RockShox Judy TTs to put on soon, aswell as a Shimano rear derailleur and rapidfires.
Bottom Line:Besides the troubles stated above, I really like this bike. The Sportchek warranty has saved me a few times already. This bike is worth most of the money, although upgraded shifters, rear derailleur, and chain would be nice.

Favorite Trail:Valley Of The 5 Lakes, Jasper NP
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Purchased At:Sportcheck for $300 cdn
Strengths:Light, decent components, good for a weekend rider like me
Weaknesses:components wore out fast. in the year ive had it ive bent the rear axle 4 times, recently replaced rear derallieur as the the old plastic shram one was shot, rear grip shifter worn out, slight bend in the frame, rounded out the left pedal arm. Its been a pain but free service at sportcheck saved my butt.
Bike Setup:ive replaced the rear derailluer with a shimano alivio one and it shifts faster than the sram 3.0 plastic one it had.
Bottom Line:For the weekend warrior who rides on rough mountain trails expect to have to adjust the derailluer every couple trips and dont expect the rear axle to hold out more than 4-6 rides on mountain trails.

But for city riding on paved bike paths and smooth dirt trails this bike will not cause you any problems.

Favorite Trail:forest to country near my house
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:sport mart
Strengths:the frame is super light and durable,i bought a good frame on the bike so i could upgrade the rest easily, the shocks 63 mm travel have done me pretty damn good so far.
Weaknesses:the quick realese isn't exactly as perfect as it should be but is still very good u have to smak it to make it move
Similar Products Used:n/a
Bottom Line:i would recomend this product to someone who goes mountain biking often but isn't really way to super serious about it but it is a good bike.
