Favorite Trail:Powell butte
Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $800.00
Purchased At:Great come backs
Strengths:Strong frame, the saddle was so comfortable I would almost fall asleep on rides
Weaknesses:1: I shattered the fork within 3 hours of buying the bike. 2: I destroyed the bottom bracket within the 4th day of jumping. 3: I bent the front and rear rims in one single bound while doing a 180 on flat ground. Basically the whole bike was completly trashed within the first three months of riding, I mean every single component on the bike either broke or did not work properly. This bike was the biggest waste of money ever. Both F/R der. would constantly be out of wack and never would shift right
Similar Products Used:Specialized P.1,P.2,P.3
Bike Setup:Stock, and mostly held together with zip ties
Bottom Line:Basically the whole bike was completly trashed within the first three months of riding, I mean every single component on the bike either broke or did not work properly. This bike was the biggest waste of money ever. I have ridden bikes from costco that held up better than this hunk of crap. But it got me into freeriding, so that was the only good thing that came out of it...

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $102.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:light, strong, looks good
Weaknesses:that ugly chrome K2 logo on the headtube, tire clearance.
Similar Products Used:none
Bike Setup:Sram Attack triggers, LX derailleurs, Sram PC-59 chain, Deore Disks, Rhyno Lites w/Deore Disk hubs, Marz Z.5 air, IRC Mudmad DH 2.25, Kalloy risers, Coda PX3 cranks, Core Rat bash ring, Crank Bros. Mallet C pedals
Bottom Line:I use this bike as a trail bike which it wasn't designed for so i can't really complain, but its not the best climber. Sometimes its hard to keep the front end down on steep climbs because of the short chainstays. But this bike is really awsome when you point it down the hill. Its so much easier to decend on than my old cross country bike. its a lot easier to get your weight back and land the bike right when it gets in the air, which its good at. but im running 2.25s on it and i cant see much larger of a tire fitting on it, which a bike like this should be able to take.

Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $1500.00
Strengths:The frame is burly enough to take about as much as any average joe can send its way.
Weaknesses:With MRP World Cup II chainguide, the top two or three chainrings are pretty much useless. My local shop has tried everything, and they think that the geometry of the frame has something do to with it.
Similar Products Used:P.1, Azonic Steelhead
Bike Setup:I bought the frame for a summer project, and i built the bike up from scratch. I've got a Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II, Sun Rhyno Lite rims tied to XT disc hubs, Magura Julie hydro. disc brakes, MRP World Cup chainguide, XT rear derailleur, XT casette, Oury Lock-ons, Truvativ Hussefelt cranks with a Truvativ Gigapipe BB, and Primo platform pedals.
Bottom Line:Bottom line is this: If you're looking for a project bike, go ahead and get this frame. However, if you're looking for a complete bike, look at the P. series because this bike stock, is a piece, due to its lack of quality components.

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $1000.00
Purchased At:Sport Chek
Strengths:What can i say, you can drop a bomb on the bike and it will still be standing, all the components are right for me a itermediate biker, The Rox Shox Judy xc Air are good for say jumping over tables and benches or just popping curves, The pedals have spikes on them for improved grip and the Avid dial 5 V brakes with kevlair lining are better then some mechanical disks.
Weaknesses:Cant think of many, The flickshift is alittle slow at times and she gets scratched qutie easily that about all the faults i can find.
Similar Products Used:I have used Rocky Mountain, Porsche s, Jeep Comando TSI
Bike Setup:All base components on the bike, Rox Shox the Shimano shifters and dozer and the amazing 26" GEAX tires
Bottom Line:THIS is the real deal for middle range bikers and you can pull everything and your left with a frame (which won frame of the year in 2003 or 2002 i cant remember) that you can put almost anything on, i have only owned the bike for a month but once again the guys at K2 have outdone them selves

Strengths:It a good all around urban bike, did some awsome drops on it. no problems yet but hopeing to change the fork to a Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II.
Weaknesses:the only thing i can think of would be the shock rock shox judy xc it clearly says xc on it and they put it on a dirt jumping bike.
Similar Products Used:treak liquid, kona stuff , norco 4 by
Bike Setup:mostly stock new rims and future Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II
Bottom Line:This bike is awsome really good for doing drops i will probelly find it better with the Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II and the bike will probelly be alot better

Botton line: Buy this bike if u want to spen some extra money

Ride on brothers.

Favorite Trail:A-Line, Dirt Merchant
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $850.00
Purchased At:Ski Rack
Strengths:The Funky Monkey's frame is very durable. I mostly used it for Dirt, Urban, and Drops up to 7 feet and it held out great. The Stem is specificaly for jumping as well as the pedals.
Weaknesses:The fork is terrible for jumping its made for XC, so I replaced it with a Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II which suits it great. The breaks are also cutting it short and I went with some discs. The tires are definately wider than 2.25". The rims aren't all that great either, bent not after a couple of weeks, those were replaced as well.
Bike Setup:stock except fork: Marzocchi DJ 2, rims: Mavic D 3.1 Disc, Brakes: Shimano Discs
Bottom Line:I've had some great times on this machine but at the moment im nursing a broken collar bone (not the bikes fault, my own) so I'll be out for a month, and cant wait to hop back on it. This bike has some major potantial as a jumper, the frame I definately give a 5, but I'm rating stock parts. If your planning on this bike look into what I have replaced myself. Happy trails!

Favorite Trail:dirt jumping, mount snow
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $850.00
Purchased At:don's bike shop
Strengths:the frame is good, the seat, pedals, bar, stem tires and all those components are good. but thats about it. ready for discs.
Weaknesses:-wheels suck, they are 23mm cross country wheels. they bend very easily
-the fork sucks, who puts an air shock on a freeride bike? i blew it out in a week and i wasn't even that good.
-the cranks suck too, i broke them in about two weeks.
-the tires are too big for there own good on this bike, the claim to be 2.25's but they are bigger than most 2.4's easily, they rub against the frame
Similar Products Used:nothing, i was stupid and bought this bike, if you are getting into freeride just save up 100 more and you can get the flyin monkey (better than the funky monkey by 10 times easily) or get the trek bruiser 2 (better by about 15 times)
Bike Setup:everything had to be replaced, so its a funky monkey frame with a sun suv wheelset, psylo xc with a 190lb. spring (i only weigh 125 but for freeride thats what you need) race face prodigy dh crankset.
Bottom Line:don't buy this bike. even if you are a total begginner in freeride you would be wasting your money. just save 200 dollars more and get the flyin monkey or the trek bruiser 2. in the end you will save about 400 dollars in upgrades. the forks are better, the wheelsets are better, the cranks are good and the brakes kick ass, too bad i'm not talking about the funky monkey. if you look hard enough online you can build up an azonic evolution with a fox fork and rhynolite xls. whatever you do just don't buy this bike! just save a few hundred dollars more and get the better bikes, you will thank yourself in the longrun.

Date Reviewed: June 2, 2002
Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $900.00
Purchased At:Dons Bike Shop
Strengths:This is a really good bike.
-The frame is strong and built up
-It is really light
-Takes drops really well
-Comes with good pedals, stem, bars, seat, and wheelset.
-The Geax Blade tires are really nice, really wide too.
-Handles really well.
Weaknesses:-The shock sucks, Judy XC's are not strong enough and don't have enough travel.
-The drivtrain is really crappy, alivio components suck
Similar Products Used:Balfa Minuteman, Trek Bruiser 1
Bottom Line:Overall I think that this bike is good if you want a dual slalom/dirt jumping/urban bike for a good price. Once you switch out the fork, drivetrain and brakes.
