Basically the whole bike was completly trashed within the first three months of riding, I mean every single component on the bike either broke or did not work properly. This bike was the biggest waste of money ever. Mallet C pedals | | Bottom Line: | I use this bike as a trail bike which it wasn't designed for so i can't really complain, but its not the best climber. Sometimes its hard to keep the front end down on steep climbs because of the short chainstays. But this bike is really awsome when you point it down the hill. Its so much easier to decend on than my old cross country bike. its a lot easier to get your weight back and land the bike right when it gets in the air, which its good at. but im running 2.25s on it and i cant see much larger of a tire fitting on it, which a bike like this should be able to take. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

I've got a Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II, Sun Rhyno Lite rims tied to XT disc hubs, Magura Julie hydro. disc brakes, MRP World Cup chainguide, XT rear derailleur, XT casette, Oury Lock-ons, Truvativ Hussefelt cranks with a Truvativ Gigapipe BB, and Primo platform pedals. | | Bottom Line: | Bottom line is this: If you're looking for a project bike, go ahead and get this frame. $850.00 | | Purchased At: | Ski Rack | | Strengths: | The Funky Monkey's frame is very durable. I mostly used it for Dirt, Urban, and Drops up to 7 feet and it held out great. The Stem is specificaly for jumping as well as the pedals. | | Weaknesses: | The fork is terrible for jumping its made for XC, so I replaced it with a Marzocchi Dirt Jumper II which suits it great. The breaks are also cutting it short and I went with some discs. The tires are definately wider than 2.25". The rims aren't all that great either, bent not after a couple of weeks, those were replaced as well. | | Bike Setup: | stock except fork: Marzocchi DJ 2, rims: Mavic D 3.1 Disc, Brakes: Shimano Discs | | Bottom Line: | I've had some great times on this machine but at the moment im nursing a broken collar bone (not the bikes fault, my own) so I'll be out for a month, and cant wait to hop back on it. This bike has some major potantial as a jumper, the frame I definately give a 5, but I'm rating stock parts. If your planning on this bike look into what I have replaced myself. -the fork sucks, who puts an air shock on a freeride bike? i blew it out in a week and i wasn't even that good.
-the cranks suck too, i broke them in about two weeks.
-the tires are too big for there own good on this bike, the claim to be 2.25's but they are bigger than most 2.4's easily, they rub against the frame | | Similar Products Used: | nothing, i was stupid and bought this bike, if you are getting into freeride just save up 100 more and you can get the flyin monkey (better than the funky monkey by 10 times easily) or get the trek bruiser 2 (better by about 15 times) | | Bike Setup: | everything had to be replaced, so its a funky monkey frame with a sun suv wheelset, psylo xc with a 190lb. spring (i only weigh 125 but for freeride thats what you need) race face prodigy dh crankset. | | Bottom Line: | don't buy this bike. even if you are a total begginner in freeride you would be wasting your money. just save 200 dollars more and get the flyin monkey or the trek bruiser 2. in the end you will save about 400 dollars in upgrades. the forks are better, the wheelsets are better, the cranks are good and the brakes kick ass, too bad i'm not talking about the funky monkey. if you look hard enough online you can build up an azonic evolution with a fox fork and rhynolite xls. whatever you do just don't buy this bike! just save a few hundred dollars more and get the better bikes, you will thank yourself in the longrun. | | Value Rating:Overall Rating: |

-The frame is strong and built up
-It is really light
-Takes drops really well
-Comes with good pedals, stem, bars, seat, and wheelset.
-The Geax Blade tires are really nice, really wide too.
