Strengths:For the money, the components are serviceable. It's a very comfortable bike to ride.
Weaknesses:The bike is a bit h eavy.
Bottom Line:It's a great bike for the money and if you can get one used in good shape for $100 to $150 then your getting a good value for your money.

Date Reviewed: July 19, 2008
Duration Product Used:2 Years
Strengths:Everything works as intended for a bike in this price range: cromo tubing, low end but serviceable components.
Weaknesses:A bit on the heavy side.
Bottom Line:For it's price range, the Jamis Explorer SX is a good bike. If your intention is to do the majority of your riding off-road, then you'll probably outgrow this bike quickly.

However, if your going to ride it out front of your house on the pavement with the very occasional off road (no narrow stuff or technical), then it will suffice.

The bike will probably last 10 years if you take care of it, keep it adjusted and lubed.

Good as a second bike for visitors dropping by and you need to throw a set of wheels under them.

Strengths:NONE. The is a flaming piece of crap notworthy to be called a mountain bike i have so many problems with this bike that i have lost count i have gone through so many axels, wheels, chainwheels and drivetrains that i dont even remember what the original parts were.
