Favorite Trail:Apex, Golden CO
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $329.00
Purchased At:wwwJensonUSA.com
Strengths:Great looking frame, at a killer price. Very light to me. Replacable drop out, and cable routing on top not underneith.
Weaknesses:The frame needed to have the seatpost tube reamed out, from weld distortion. I have had an impossible time finding someone to do this, and Jamis's WEB site has broken links to contact them, plus no phone numbers in the root of their page.
Similar Products Used:Trek 950
Bike Setup:Jamis Komodo 2000 frame, XTR V-brakes, XT Shifter/brake combos, Kore Lite2 seat post, etc...
Bottom Line:Looks like a great frame, and should be built by this weekend, if I can get the seat post reamed to 27.2 like it was supposed to have been, everyone says this is a killer bike and gives it great reviews, I can't wait to ride it.

Date Reviewed: March 23, 2000
Favorite Trail:Clarmemont Wilderness Park
Duration Product Used:3 months
Strengths:Excellent Price ($1200). Specs blow away all others. Light weight for price.
Weaknesses:None
Bike Setup:Stock (see Jamis website for details)
Bottom Line:I looked at all the major hardtails under $2000.00. No one competes with Jamis on price/performance. More important- this is a fun and fast bike to ride. Its not too disco looking either (hello Specialized).

Favorite Trail:
as*hole camp
Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
with the frame at 3.75 pounds it's strong and durable.
Weaknesses:
at 3.75 pounds it's a little heavy for a race bike.
Similar Products Used:
alite 4000
Bike Setup:
marzocchi superfly, king front hub, hugi rear, 517's laced single cross front double rear, the rest xtr, thomson seat post, riser bar, selle italie flite, 636's, irc mythos rear, wtb enduroraptor front, aheadset, race face stem.
Bottom Line:this is the same tom from below.
this bike is good. my setup weighs in at just over 22 pounds for real. easily 21 with lighter pedals, lighter front tire, a straight bar and lighter tubes. i'm 195 pounds and i race pretty hard. it handles great, everyone that get's on loves it, it just feels the way a bike should. plenty stiff and definately strong. i've got about $2200 into it. after 1 year and 1500 miles of complete off road abuse it has definately made me happy.
handling 5 chillis
price 5 chillis
looks 4 chillis,
i haven't ever had to deal with jamis so i don't know how service is. the dropouts are breakaway, i've gone through 2 at $15 a piece
it's an adequate frame from novice to expert.

I chose the komodo over the f1000 for spec reasons. I LOVE THIS BIKE. It is one the best feeling bikes i have ever ridden.

strong, light frame, nice welds.
Bike Setup:

Bottom Line:i ride this bike with a suspension seat post, with that and the front fork the ride is quite comfortable. i find the performance of the bike is always consistent. i feel real confident in this bike. i also love the float in the pedals. all around; i feel me fluid and less rigid on this bike compared to a few others that i've rode.

Bottom Line:

I just got a pre-production Komodo frame from Jamis bikes. The guy above me has to be talking about last years bike since as of now there are only 20 in existance... This bike has the largest chainstays I have ever seen!!! I bought the frameset and built it up with my parts and this thing is light!!!! 21.5 pounds!!! Although my frame was made by Kinesis for jamis I expect the production frames will be equally as nice!!!

Bottom Line:

i like the komodo, i've been racing on it since august. it's definatly durable, it's survived some good crashes without a dent or crack or anything but a scratch. i don't have the regular package though, komodo frame, race face crank, atom bomb up front, sun rhino lite rims, xtr shifters brakes, derrailers,
bottom line the bike works good i like it.
it's stiff and light, better handling than my old fisher and diamonback
five stars for performance, four stars cause they only had it in ball burnished and i wanted white.
