$700.00 | | Purchased At: | bicyclebuys.com | | Strengths: | I was in the market for a hard tail when I came across the Showdown - same Deore components as the bikes I was looking at for the same price. Difficult if not impossible to find a better deal. | | Weaknesses: | The bike has sold out nation wide - dealers aren't able to get more from the Iron Horse headquarters in New York. I called Iron Horse directly (they were really cool by the way) and they told me where they had sold the last large frame they made. I called that dealer directly and luckily the bike hadn't sold yet and they shipped it out to me. Full suspension and disk brakes are heavy, but the extra weight is worth the ride.
| | Similar Products Used: | Tried hardtail Gary Fisher and Giant bikes with disk brakes | | Bike Setup: | Hayes disk brakes, Shimano Deore components, rapid fire shifting | | Bottom Line: | Popular bike sold out nation wide - pretty amazing deal - really fun to ride - bike gets a lot of attention - gotta get a good lock for it and keep it indoors - don't want this bad boy getting stolen. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$659.00 | | Purchased At: | http://www.nolimits-sbs.com | | Strengths: | Nice blend of quality components and strong frame. It took a while to align the brake calipers, but not a big deal. Does not feel too mushy on crushed Linestone trail. This bike takes hard impact to the frame well.I dont' feel that there is nothing that could stop this bike on the trail. The hayes disc brakes hold up well in wet weather, and do not grab too much either. | | Weaknesses: | May be a little heavier at 32 lbs than most, but I don't care. I suppose if you are into competition, that makes it a factor for you to consider. For this prices, it is a steal. It is a great bike to get your legs in shape with and tackle all-terrain. | | Similar Products Used: | Trek 8000 series MTB | | Bike Setup: | Manitou 6-Comp shock , Truative Cranks, Shimano Deore, Aluminum Frame, Hayes Disc brakes, Avid brake levers, Koiski Seat, Maxxis tires | | Bottom Line: | Added NEXT bike computer, got the bike up to 30mph on one down hill and was taking impacts well at that speed. Not many retail places even carry this bike for some reason? Rather hard to find a retailer. It is an excellent off road machine. It would be a sin to ride this on any paved surface, this is made for jumping bolders and logs, and ditches. Took a while to get used to the pedal straps at first, but they feel natural after a while. You won't find a better deal on a 2002 Full Suspension bike under $700 than this beauty. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |

$700.00 | | Purchased At: | Economy Cycle | | Strengths: | Very light for full suspension bike in this price range. Best components available compared to all other F/S bikes under $1000. Hayes Disc Brakes! Thredless & very upgradable. Nice looks... | | Weaknesses: | Rear Shock is a little too cushy, definitely upgrade to clipless pedals..this bike is not for extreme diehards...go for the Hollowpoint or Hustler instead | | Similar Products Used: | Giant Warp DS1 | | Bike Setup: | Pretty much stock for now...until something breaks. Upgrading pedals and added rock ring | | Bottom Line: | I challenge anyone to find a full susp. bike for under $900 dollars that even comes close to this bike. Its my first full susp. bike from Iron Horse. I ride alot of intermediate single track...and the showdown seems to take it all pretty well. I reccomend this bike to semi-serious riders on a budget...who require a full susp bike. I can't believe this bike retails for $700. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
