Low profile and ramped knobs ensure that the V-Claw will be one of the speediest tires on the trails. Knobs are arranged in a closely spaced modified chevron pattern that provide gentle transitions from side to side. Lots of fun on dry hardpack or loose shoal. Ride a pair, or team it up with the Claw Comp.

Purchased At:
Nashbar
Strengths:
Great price from Nashbar, reasonably light, grips well on hardpack to medium trails, rolls fast!
Weaknesses:
Compound too hard to wet roots (just discovered this weekend), terrible on loose and sandy surfaces. Measures out to 2.2...not the advertised 2.35
Similar Products Used:
WTB Weirwolf 2.3, Nokian Gazzalodi 2.3
Bike Setup:
Kona Stinky set up for all mountain FSU rides.
Bottom Line:
Good dry weather all-mountain tire, rolls very fast and grips hardpack and medium soil trails. Not good in sandy and loose trails, tends to "float" instead of digging down and gripping. Not good on wet roots, but wasn't expecting them to be so no biggie. Would like them to actually be 2.35" wide...instead of 2.2" that they measure out to be...but hey, they were $9.45 a piece for kevlar beaded tires!!!

Duration Product Used:

Strengths:
Corners on rails. Lateral studs are tough that it digs deep into the earth. Transitions from straight to a bank are smooth. Turns are predictable. Light for a 2.35 inch tire. Fast on hard packed and loose trail. Solid.
Weaknesses:
None I could think of for now
Similar Products Used:

These tires are solid and dig deep into the earth. They are very predictable. I opted to use a chromoly hardtail frame rather than a dual suspended one because chromoly hardtails can be supple enough for a soft ride but enable you to strategically place your rear wheels with more precision. Having these wheels enable me to corner with more precision. But sometimes speeds can be quite fast that it is difficult to decide where to place them. In many moments of indecision, I realized that these tires can take on some of the worst crash-prone-attack-angles. It is easy to recover with them, and that inspires confidence to take-on any trail.
