No reason to buy this tire for cross country use unless you just want a good workout! I bought it thinking it was going to be the last tire I would ever need b/c of the reviews. I just replaced with Kenda Tinker Quarez much better for cross country fast, lightweight, grippy as hell. Now for downhill use im sure it is a good tire. I think the people that said it could be used for cross country dont know what they are talking about.

I do XC and nothing more but these DH tyres suit me perfectly, They're fat a$$ tyres, Their red walls make the whole bike look awesome, they grip like no tyre I've ever used before, Bit edgy on wet rock and mud but will otherwise keep you stuck to the ground, My only reservation would have to be puncture resistance, which can be a nightmare, If you run these tyres on low pressure expect it to be as flat as a pancake by the bottom of the trail!

Not the best mud tire, but not many tires are, unless you are running a mud specific. I have to say hands down that my kujos have been the best tires that I have owned. Bottom Line:
These are good and durable tires for the commn user, for the racer these are robust tires and, in my opinion, this is where the problems with these tires begins they're awesome in strength but in corners they just dond keep up with most of the newer tires out there in the market(i don't know if these tires are still on sale) the tires have another problem in my opinion they say its an hardpack tire , i'd sai its its a tire that grips like hwll in rockfaces but its not a tire that preforms all that well in hardpack,it tends not to be stable if you dont brake in a straight line (i know that isn't the way to brake but sometimes it just has to done) most of the tires also feel unsafe under those braking situations but these are worse.this tire isn't also a preforming tire in offcamber situations. This review seems like its just to say the tire doesn't work but thats not true when this tire was desinged it was among the best tires but now he is getting old. i've used more than 1 pair of these tires, i dont even know for how long i've been using kujos, but nowadays i still have a pair that i still didn't manage to destroy over the rocks. I would't buy these tires now but a time ago i bought loads of them one got destroied i'd just put another equal. If you get them on a bargain go ahead but dont hope for miracles. And just to end if this tire rode on the worldcup and the pros used it thats a sign that it'll always be a good tire (in spite of all the bad things i've said about it)

In-de-structible. I have ridden this tire for about a year and a half with zero pinch flats. It is mounted to a sun Rhyno lite and I run 20 or less psi in it at all times. Every time I make a move, you can hear the rim hit, and still no flats. Anyone I ride with is amazed as soon as I make a move that it didn't pinch flat. And I've been doing this to it for well over a year. On top of all that, after a year and a half of nothing but riding street about half of the tread is left. The traction is great in dry to medium conditions, but it gets loaded up with mud easily in extremely wet stuff. Again, that's not what it was made for. This has been one of the few components that has been absolutely, 100%, problem free. If you want a fairly large bombproof tire, look no further.

But apart that, i think it`s a really good tyre for the price (about 20 €),it´s light, and soft, you can mount or dismount it with your fingers, it grips really well, it corners well, it has great traction, and it`s not bad at all on muddy conditions. One thing i really liked is it`s looks, cause it seems wider than a normal 2.25.I`m using it as a rear, but it would work fine as a front, although it will brake you a little.5 chilis for theprice, and only 4 cause of the flats

Great for the money. Just rool over everything with confidence. Tough tire.
I wanted a downhill tire for certain conditons. Like where I ride locally near the house has bad thorns. Downhill tires with self sealing tubes easily keep me flat free.
I have been riding all kinds of terrain on them and they work great. I have used them for urban to trail riding. I spent a day doing shuttles in Auburn and they worked great there.
Not too big that you cant pedal them but they just hook up on everything. I also run 2.25 Panaracer Cinders which rock also but the slight size differance on the Kujo 2.35 is noticable.
I really like these tires. May have to pick another set up and stash them. They really rock. If you like this tire but want somthing lighter try Panaracer Cinder 2.25.
They are heavy but tough. They are a great dollar value.

I bought these on the bargain rack at supergo, I had just wasted my money on some Kenda Kinetics and Maxxis Mobsters and I was just looking for something that wouldn't kill my wallet and me that day. Boy did I get a bargain....These tires have yet to dissappoint me. Forget about flats, I have Intense DH tubes with Supergo house slime inside these already brutaly beefy tires. I have literally ridden through a garden of goatheads and they don't even lose air over a month of sitting. I had a leaky valve core and the air was down to about 18 psi and I did a little four foot to flat expecting to blow a sidewall, but no dice. I ride in the desert SW where there is mondo rock and cactus, these tires so far have been impervious to everything I throw at them. If you get a pinch flat, you must have a really nasty burr on your wheel somewhere. They hook up really well for the harder durometer that they are, and they wear well. I only wish I had the 2.6 up front....Bottom line is: If ya wanna be done with flats and and not spend a whole lot of money, buy em.

Grips well, had no real problem hooking up on loose rock, roots and the like. Climbs very well. It feels like you float over the bumps - (ok, suspension helps too)

Before I had my TALAS, I was riding the bike with the standard zoke and 2.2's up front. I switched to the 2.65 and it felt like I had a brand new fork up front, it made that much of a difference in handling. They do seem heavier than other DH tires, however I ride mine XC also, and dont seem to have a problem. Sure, I could put a 2.2 back on the front, and be able to go faster, however on the steep downhill sections, the traction is not there with a standard XC tire. Sure, they weigh a little more, however so do you, when you pack that little extra water in your camelback....so who cares! Great tire. 5 chilis both times.

Heavy, harder to mount
Similar Products Used:
Specialized Team Control; Panaracer Fire Pro; others
Bike Setup:
2003 Stumpjumper Como hard tail, Fox Float RLT fork; running 30 psi in Kujo's for rough singletrack
Bottom Line:
I'm using the Kujo 2.35 kevlar bead front and back on my XC bike now. It's an amazing difference in several ways. First, compared to 1.8-2.1 (nominal) XC tires, the Kujo seems to have double the grip climbing, cornering, and braking. I'm able to sit and climb steep, loose sections of singletrack that previously required more speed, body English, and power to get through. In addition to the rear having more traction for power, the front seems to grip with less weight on it, so that I can keep more weight on the rear.
Even motoring along on rough flat stretches is much more comfortable and confidence inspiring. Hitting stuff, like rocks, ruts, or roots that would have deflected smaller tires doesn't even phase the Kujo's; you can maintain your intended line with much less effort. They track the intended line very well.
All the above means I can ride with less effort and go faster, despite an additional pound or so at each end.
They were a little harder to mount compared to some. Most mtb tires I can mount with no levers; the Kujo's require a lever to get get that last 6 inches or so on the rim. No big deal, though.
Highly recommended.

no pinch flats (new funky foam sidewall), grips really well on various obstacles (spools, drop-offs, ledges, u name it), even wear, 2.26" pretty fat!, corners well, great for hardpack/pavement (if need b), grips roots pretty well too, will handle super low pressure (for trials or whatever u want)
Weaknesses:
not the best in mud, kinda heavy (but it IS a DH tire) -- Al's fatty must really be a fatty, cuz pinch flats are pretty non existant with this bad boy lol, it's a realli good tire for the price... comes with optional kevlar bead which is wierd cuz it's only a weight saving option -- for a DH tire???? :/

Bottom Line:
for the money, it's an awesome tire. i have yet to find a tire for as cheap as 40 or so canadian that performs better on urban hardpack and some loose stuff. sure maxxis and intense are the bigger names, but having to pay for school, it's a solution that is so obvious. pinch flats used to be a real pain before i switched over (i used to ride a IRC mythos XC), which isn't a bad tire either, but not fat enough for lots of rear wheel necessities i.e. lurching, manuals, wheelies, etc.

I like this tire. I find that i can count on it as a front or rear tire. But i feel that these reviews mean very little because If one guy rates this tire as crap and it is always flatting or giving out on turns that tells me that the some guy can't ride light on his/her bike or has no idea how to corner.I have a friend with a set of Maxxis DH tires he's been riding for a few years he's got way more suspention than me {Kona Stab} but i could still beat him down hills on tech trails with semi-slicks because i know how to distribute my weight over my bike. Anyhow i like this tire tred wear is great and they cost half as much as the new {freeride/downhill} trendy tires. plus they have been around for years why change a good thing

Bottom Line:
I'm an XC rider. I was always looking for the lightest, fastest tire. A friend let me borrow his Kujo's and I immediately bought a pair. 2.35 in front and 2.25 in rear. These tires are just plain fun. I weigh 190, and I run these tires between 18 and 21 PSI. Yes, thats no mistake. I'm not sure what people who run these at 40 PSI are doing - maybe 20 foot drops or something. But I've run these at 20 for 6 months and havn't flatted yet. No pinch flats, and surprisingly no puncture flats either. The rolling resistance isn't too bad either; for 2 pound tires, I'd say they're pretty fast. As I said, I'm an XC rider, so my only problem with these is the weight. These things weigh over 2 pounds each! When I go to a real fast, smooth trail, I have to switch to lighter tires, cause I have a hard time keeping up. But on rougher trails, rocky rooty stuff, I'm unstoppable with my Kujos; descending AND climbing. And cornering? Yup, they do that too. I can always lose my buddys on a tight downhill turn, because the Kujos will hold on while they're back there braking. They also grip great on the wet stuff and I haven't noticed them packing up with mud either. I think these tires may last forever; after six months, they still smell like rubber. Strange. Anyway, if you appreciate the benefits of low tire pressure, don't want to change flats, and don't mind tires that weigh more than your wheels, the Kujo is for you. And if you think you like light, skinny tires that roll fast, give these things a shot anyway; maybe they'll remind you why you like mountain biking.

Bike Setup:
Kona Stuff, Marzocchi Z1
Bottom Line:
If you're looking for a tire for Urban, Downhill, Freeride duty than this tire is it. A very good all around tire that never ceases to amaze me on any terrain. It is very predictable and the 2.35 width is a true static width. I compared them to my Serfas Wildlife Leopard 24 X 2.6 and they're the same width although the Leopard seems to be a bit taller. This is a very beefy tire and the casing is just about bullet proof ...then again I do think Kevlar is a part of the equation here ;). Mounting the tires is a wee struggle due to the wire bead but just take your time and all will be good. Tread wear is very minimal so these tires should last you a very long time even on tarmac. About the only thing that would even prove to be the tiniest quirk would be the tire's given rolling resistance since it is a wide tire. Yet, just a little more air in the tires fixes that up for your urban assaults. About the only XC riders to use these would be Clydesdale riders or very aggressive riders that can put up with high rolling resistance and extra weight on the climbs. Otherwise, these tires are a godsend to us in the DH/DS/DJ/Urban set. If you're looking for the perfect tire, these could very well be your set.

These tires are sooo awesome, it's amazing. I use them for mainly dirt jumping, skate park, and urban, but they hold their own for trails too. The pinch flat resistance is great, sooo much better than any other tires i've tried. The coloring is awesome. I love these tires. While they arn't as great for trails as say gazzis, they do pretty well. I think that they best use is dirt jumping.

Bottom Line:
I already posted a review and I have actually changed my mind, a bit. I have found the perfect use for kujos. They are quite possibly the best urban/dirt jump tire ever. While the hard compound is not great for dh/fr/ds/trail use, they rule for jumping and urban. They are lighter and smaller than most new dh tires, and a lot more durable (hard durometer) than them too. They don't wear out, and as I said before, they don't pinch flat. Okay, so if you want a FANTASTIC tire for urban/jumping, and don't want to buy new tires and or tubes every week, get a pair of kujos, just don't expect great performance in other situations. These chillis are for a jumping/urban grade. Happy trails!

Bottom Line:
The IRC Kujo's might be a little heavy but when land flat and weigh 220lbs weight doesn't really matter. Tyres I have used in the past like Tioga factory DH 2.3's have soft side walls and Nokian's Gazz jr's are really to heavy for anything other than downhill racing, cause tring riding a bike to the top of favorite spot with those and you'll need an hour just to recoup.
The person that should look in to these tyres are someone that doesn't mind the little bit of heft. Poeple have said that you experiance pinch flat on kujo's must be hitting a curb or something to that sort at a high rate speed and to much air preasure or the wrong kind of tubes, cause I have never had a flat with kujos ever they wear out period.

Bottom Line:
I bought these tires because they are well priced and looked to have a good tread pattern. I have been amazed at how well they work in a variety on conditions hot & dry to snow & cold. Traction is more secure and predictable than Intense's. The softer compound of Intense's seems to give them a vague feel. I feel I can say this with confidence as I raced more than a season on Intense tires.
And the Kujos wear great! After three races and two training sessions and the rear is only starting to show wear - the front still has casting nubs!. By contrast, a 60d Intense tire will show significant wear after ONE RUN on Plattekill shale.
Because of the harder compound, I worried they wouldn't grip wet terrain well. Surprise, at the last P-kill race, it SNOWED and the whole course was mud and wet rocks and roots and tires performed awesome. A friend had just mounted them for the race as well and we were both amazed. I'm going to get a set of 2.35's too for pedalling courses and another set for my HT/DH bike.
I have not flatted them, but I use 2B tubes which helps alot. Where I race (Plattekill, Mtn Creek, Whitetail; 30-39 Expert) I have flatted Intense 2.7's w/ Intense tubes at 25 psi regularly. I weigh about 180 lbs in full gear.
If you race in abrasive conditions, these are great tires. I was resigned to needing new tires a few times throughout a season and considered it to be the price of DH racing, but with the Kujo's I can see the possiblity of going the whole the season and possibly only having to replace the rear a couple of times.

It isn't really a downhill tire. I use them for everything, but it isn't very good at any one thing....Overall it is a very good tire without any specialty. Not big enough or soft enough for Downhilling. Not light enough for crosscountry. I like them though. I use them for trials, and freeriding. It handles dropoffs with ease, and grip ok on packed dirt. I noticed they slipon muddy conditions, but in general they can hold a line pretty well. I have had two pinch flats with them in the last year that i have had them. But they have lasted a year, more than any other tire i've had. Overall, thought not the best DH tire out there, i like them and made them my all around tire.

Whoa, Can you say "Hook Up"? This tire hooks up in any conditions, and doesn't slide. Excellent in technical, rocky, steep terrain. I ride the tire at a lower PSI for increased hook up, and it will not pinch flat
Weaknesses:
WEIGHT (You can get use to it) This tire isn't for the Cross country wusss who is obsessed with weight.

Bottom Line:
This Tire Kicks Ass... Its one Weakness is overshadowed by its incredible need to be ridden fast and hard. The tire is extremely stable at high speeds, and hooks up like a demon. Yes, you may complain about the weight, but your legs will get used to it, and you may find yourself climbing sections that you have never climbed before. BUT THIS TIRE AND SWEEP THE TRAILS CLEAN!!!

Oh my god this is the best tire i've EVER tried. The tires last forever and can grip against anything. I've got my kujo's on a 24 inch wheel in 2.35 and it's sooooooo nice. Whether it's rippin' down a local trail or racing DH, the kujo will always perform the best. I've tried just about all of the good DH tires on the market and nothing comes close to as good.I'd give the kujo 15 flamming chillies if I could.

no flats whatsoever, great in the mud, loose/dry traction great
great traction in mud and loose conditions. i do a lot of urban assault, and I haven't had a flat in the month i've ridden it. though it seems heavy at first, I got used to the extra weight VERY quickly. These tires helped me get a 1st place finish in the mud. I got the kevlar bead, 2.25" for $21 from Nashbar.

these tires are great, atleast they were until i got two pinch flats(at 45psi) on my two practce runs at buller for the interschools. due to this i did not get to complete the course on the day. aside from this i have been pleased with the tire, i have noticed some of the knobs being slit and allmost tearing off. the tire has never had anything protrude it and puncture it. this has to be a good thing.

Pinch flat resistance allows for a low pressure ride=more traction and a little bit more comfort. they last pretty well too, my friend is still on his first set.
Weaknesses:
Are these things made of kryptonite?? Superman said they were way too heavy.

Bottom Line:
Great for freeriding. I use a really fat Tioga Factory DH up front and a 2.25 Kujo in the back. I did have a Tioga on the back but it was too wide for my chainstays. I am happy with the Kujo. It just seems a little too heavy. I would also like to see the Kujo with a black sidewall instead of the crappy red color it comes in.
