Date Reviewed: March 10, 2009
Favorite Trail:singletrack
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $22.00
Purchased At:LBS
Strengths:Compact size, however the size and weight increase quickly as you carry more CO2 cartridges for trail rides.
Weaknesses:The Ultraflate Plus with just one CO2 cartridge weighs more than a good compact handpump. It's main strength is also one of its main weaknesses....Compact size, however size and weight increase quickly as you carry more CO2 cartridges for trail rides. While one cartridge will fill most 26" tires to riding pressure, this is not always true for 29er tires. When you run out of CO2 cartridges (which are heavy and cost $$$) you're out of air and walking instead of riding.
Similar Products Used:Blackburn Mountain Air and Giant Mini 3 (both handpumps)....which I now greatly prefer!
Bike Setup:Specialized Rockhopper Disc 29er with a few mods.
Bottom Line:Size and weight increase quickly as you carry more CO2 cartridges for trail rides. While one cartridge will fill most 26" tires to riding pressure, this is not always true for 29er tires. When you run out of CO2 cartridges (which are heavy and cost $$$) you're out of air and walking instead of riding.

The Ultraflate Plus with just one CO2 cartridge weighs more than a good compact handpump!

If you want to keep your pack weight down, flat repair cost down, and number of tires aired up....don't buy this....buy a good old compact handpump!
