Purchased At:

Strengths:
Mostly constructed of high quality components. Shimano XT/XTR. Price was low (at the time) for a bike with these components. The non-Shimano parts seem to work good so far.
Weaknesses:
Couldn't test ride. Large frame size 20" seemed smaller than the large frame size of other manufacturers (I'm 6'3" so this is important). Bolts holding front brake onto shock were too long causing loose v-brake. I called Ibex about the problem. They told me to take it to my LBS and they would pay for it. I ended up just getting shorter bolts and fixing myself. My LBS is not a fan of Ibex.
Similar Products Used:
Trek 8000/8500 Klein Specialized Stump Jumper
Bike Setup:
Same as shipped, except for front brake bolts. I am looking for a longer stem or maybe the new Ritchey adjustable stem for longer rides.
Bottom Line:
Basically, the bike was an OK deal. Ibex is trying to be the "Dell Computer" of the bicycle world by selling direct to their customers. Like Dell, the only way they can succeed at this is to provide lower prices and better service than the competiton does by selling thru a LBS. Ibex has a 30-day return policy, however if their website price changes within the 30-days, you get that price refunded. I didn't try to return mine. After sale service was acceptable. I believe I could have found an equivalent bike at an LBS on clearance, which is probably the best way to go. If money isn't a problem, then get a TREK or Specialized from a LBS that you can be fitted for.

Strengths:
top of the line components at a price that cannot be touched by all the brand-name companies, great front fork with lockout, tubeless tires, hydraulic discs, xt/xtr drivetrain, this bike has been great on the trails i ride--a lot of steep sections--muddy and dry, i also hit some pretty technical rocky sections and the bike is very stable--those brakes are amazing! even the seat is pretty darn comfortable.
Weaknesses:
explaining to everybody what ibex is?
Similar Products Used:
last bike was an ibex alpine 450, i have ridden plenty of the competitions bikes at lbs
Bottom Line:
my first bike last year was also an ibex. new to the sport, i went with an alpine 450 which was a great price on a good bike since i was unsure whether i would get into biking or not. i had such a great experience with the bike and the company that when it came time to upgrade to a new toy i shopped around again but came back to ibex. the owner, jack, is very helpful and puts together bikes that cannot be touched at any price. i compared this bike to other company's offerings for the same components and would have spent about 2000. with ibex you will get a great bike without having to pay for a name and its marketing. i highly recommend checking out the website and maybe call and see for yourself.

Strengths:
Everything on the bike is the highest quality. The bike is light and responsive, gear shifting is smooth, and all components are top notch. I can not imagine having a better cross country bike than this. When you consider the price, it's a no brainer.
Weaknesses:
There are none. I like everything about the bike. Could have purchased the disc brake version, but did not need the stopping power. The direct pull brakes do an excellent job.
Bike Setup:
Standard XT setup. Since I ride with tennis shoes, I did change the peddles to a platform style.
Bottom Line:
This is a GREAT bike!! I did an extensive amount of comparison shopping, and reading of reviews. After deciding that the Trophy was the bike I wanted, I waited four months for the new model. The wait was well worth it. I could not be happier with my decision.
