Favorite Trail:Sam Merill
Duration Product Used:6 months
Price Paid: $530.00
Purchased At:eBay
Strengths:Bang for the buck. Quality components. Lightweight for the price. No/low maintenance. Trued front wheel once, never had to true rear wheel.
Weaknesses:Limited frame size selection. I'm 5'6 and have the 17" frame which is the smallest size they sell. If your any shorter, bike will be too big. Judy C is not plush enough, maybe I'm too light (150 lbs). Also, lighter rims would have been nice.
Bike Setup:Stock
Bottom Line:This is comparable to the trek 4900 in specs and price. Except the trek weighs 2 lbs more. I read in the other review that the Rainer also weighs 2 lbs. more. I'm glad I took the chance on a new company and bought it. I'm thinking about sheding more weight by upgrading the Judy C and wheelset. But my bike is currently stock and I love it. Handles well and rides fast.

Date Reviewed: July 15, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $539.00
Purchased At:IBEX Bicycles, Atlanta, Georgia
Strengths:Components, quality, price
Weaknesses:None so far.
Similar Products Used:Trek 6700, Giant Ranier, Cannondale Terra
Bike Setup:As purchased.
Bottom Line:This bike has all the features and quality of the name brands but cost is about two to three hundred less. I was initially leary of purchasing such a bike sight unseen but the price lured me. What a great deal. The overall quality of this bike exceeds the name brands in my opinion because the components other than the deraillers and shifters are name brand. Much better than the stuff you get on the Big names. The Ibex 6061 frame is excellent and will stand up to any comparison with the name brands. It's guarenteed for life also. The bike is two pounds lighter than the Rainer! Excellent for those who want to get out and mix it up with reliable gear without feeling that you spent your life savings to do it. Good for even the highest skill levels if you can let your ego relax.
