Duration Product Used:1 Year
Price Paid: $500.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Great frame, good components, Incredible Price. Bike was purchased for my girlfriend. We went to all the local bike shops and tried dozens of bikes. Most cost MUCH (2-3 hundred) more and were no better.
Weaknesses:Front suspension is weak but can easily be upgraded later. No other complaints. in fact the fork isn't really that bad just not the highlight of the bike.
Similar Products Used:Various TREK bikes, Rocky Mountain, Klein
Bike Setup:Manufacturer setup
Bottom Line:You can't beat IBEX for price and the customer service is fantastic. The seat post was cracked when it arrived, they had a replacement at my door right away. They also have been great on follow ups. I'm buying two road bikes from them this year because they are so great with customer satisfaction and they make a superb product.

Date Reviewed: September 20, 2002
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $200.00
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Excellent components all around. Look at their website, and see that they use quality components for everything.
Price!!!
Good Looks
Weaknesses:Creaking sound when I pedal really hard. Can't seem to fix it no matter how hard I try.
Similar Products Used:Trek, Motiv, Cannondale
Bike Setup:Check out their website to see.
Bottom Line:I know I couldn't have gotten a better bike even if I paid $300. This bike rules in so many ways. The shifting is perfect, the ride is nice, and it looks cool in the indian red color. The customer service is outstanding. I have sent a couple of emails to IBEX, and I always receive a reply within 15 minutes. This bike goes for $269 direct from their website, but they have a few sizes on ebay that you can get for around $200. MSRP is like $350 if you add up the cost of all the components. Check this company out before making any decisions. I give it 5 super-flaming chilis.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Purchased At:ebay
Strengths:Good frame and solid components on an entry level bike. Definitely worth doing some upgrading as time and money allows.
Weaknesses:With most bikes in this category I have to say the fork. The RST is a pogo stick, but after looking around, there aren't many in this price range that give you anything besides your basic pogo stick so I'm not complaining. For the money I spent on the bike. I could put on a Manitou Answer or Xvert and still come in under a trek 4300 with the same components but now have a better front end.
Similar Products Used:Trek 4300
Bike Setup:Stock at the moment, but I'm sure that'll change by the end of the summer just because I can't leave anything alone and there are some great bargains to be found on ebay.
Bottom Line:I will have to say I was skeptical at first not knowing anything about IBEX, but most of my money is invested in my road bike (lemond zurich) and I just needed a starter bike to do some adventure races and tool around the shore. Did a lot of research into components and bikes in this price range as well as rode a few of my friends bikes including some upper model treks and cannondales, and decided this had the best bang for the buck with the same components as bikes costing about another $150 more. The frame was solid, great welds and paint job. I have the Sage Green and didn't think much of the color at the time, but all my friends actually like the color over the norm and it's growing on me. And the big IBEX logos always seem to get attention because everyone wonders what the hell "IBEX" is. It gets all the chilis for value and overall even with the pogo stick fork because I could upgrade the fork and still be priced under all the rest in this category. Definitely check out Ebay to save a few bucks for an even better deal, but you'll save $$$ even if you go through their website.
