This review is for the MX-4, similar OEM version Stop well when set up correctly. ECB pads and some coppa slip on the back of them stopped the squealing. Seem tough enough

The reason that I am replacing them is a design issue. When the ads wear you have to adjust the inner static pad with a hex key (nuisance but ok), the outer pad is adjusted using cable length. This means that the lever to which the cable end is fastened gets closer to the static arm holding the cable outer. My subjective view is that this reduces the leverage and therefore stopping power and also pulls the cable at an angle so that it rubs on the hole in the static arm holding the cable outer. You therefore have to replace pads long before they are fully worn to maintain performance. I think the Avid BB7 fixes most of these issues. Have decided to go for Shimano LX Hyds though as the muck that gets into the cables in our English winter is still an issue.

Adjustability. I find that these breaks adjust easily which you will be doing guite often. Modulation
Weaknesses:
Need to be adjusted often. (every ride) I'm not terribly fussy about a little noise but these breaks will be rubing by the end of any decent ride. Breaking power on any longer decents will give you fingers a pretty decent workout.

Bottom Line:
These breaks are good if your just getting into disk breaks. Breaking power isn't all that great but I'm satisfied overall. If your bike comes with them they will serve your purpose. Certainly on the upgrade list
