The Hayes hydraulic disc brake utilizes a patented open hydraulic system unlike most other disc brakes that use a closed system. The open system allows the expanding brake fluid to go into a reservoir to eliminate "free running drag".

Strengths:
Beautiful feel. Its like having the brakes plugged into your brain. Just need to think about stopping and the bike begins to slow. Over the bars stopping when you clamp down, great release, and drag free running.
Weaknesses:
None yet - aparently howl when wet, but I havent seen that.

Feel, feel, feel. Thats what I love about 'em. Groovy in the gravel and sweet on the single trail. Super easy fitting, and did I mention feel? Wicked.
