Strengths:frame seems to fit me perfect, handles well,
Weaknesses:headset is crap,fork sucks,rear shock is'nt much
Bike Setup:fox vanilla fork,maxxis d.h. tires
Bottom Line:I wrote in on this bike last year and since then the rear shock has self destructed and the swingarm has cracked.I would call my riding agg.c.c. not too burley. bike handles great(fox)but I just wonder how long befor another swingarm crack.

Strengths:value - good parts for the price.
Weaknesses:marzocchi OEM fork was terrible.
Saw TWO of the 2002 frames snap at the pivot. Just don't entirely trust this bike anymore, though haro did beef up the pivot welding for 2003 (and changed it entirely for 2004)

Should have gone for the X3, mainly because of fork, but also drivetrain and brakes.

Strengths:-Good price for the bike!
-Frame can be set up for many different styles of riding (I use it for freeride, Urban, Cross Country & so on)
-Nice frame & design.
-Killer Avid Mecanical Disc Brakes.
-Overall great value.
Weaknesses:-It was expensive for me. Because I'm only a junior high school student.
-The chain sucks. I't broked in 1 week!?
-The fork is not the best. If you are going to do hard jumps you must change the fork.

Bottom Line:The EXTREME X2 is a great bike. I like the design to.
The frame is a little bit heavy for freeride. But it handles almost everything. It's a good trail bike for beginner.

Strengths:This is a burly bike at a super price!
Weaknesses:If your really going to abuse this bike, then you'd better put on a beefier fork.
Bike Setup:The bike is super stable and can handle just about anything you have the balls to jump off.
Bottom Line:The X2 is a great bike at an even better price. I've taken this ride down ski resort bomber runs, done urban jumping on it, and ridden the narrowest single track I could find. Buy this bike!

Strengths:Built like a tank - Killer price
Weaknesses:Handled like a tank
Similar Products Used:Santa Cruz and Norco
Bike Setup:Standard with discs - large frame - I'm 5'11 170 lbs.
Bottom Line:Three of us rented these bikes from Mountain Bike Heaven in Sedona, Arizona for a day. Very heavy duty bike; with the key word being heavy. The owner of the shop said these bikes held up very well in the rental fleet.

My regular bike is a Santa Cruz Blur X Disc which is a totally different animal. It always feels odd to ride a different bike and this was no exception. I never felt like I found the right balance points on the Haro. It definately is not the climbing machine my Blur is but the Haro weighs at least 12+ lbs more and cost about 1/4 of the Blur.

On climbs either the front wheel drifted or the rear wheel didn't lock up. I'm sure this is my fault as a rider but normally I can get fairly dialed in on a rental bike after an hour of riding.

On downhills and small drops the Haro felt very solid in the rocky terrain of Sedona, though I always felt like I had to be really super far back over the rear wheel to avoid an endo.

Clearly my Blur would not last very long in this rough terrain. The Haro is built to take it. My big surprise was when I found out how much the Haro costs. It rides like a bike costing twice as much.

Strengths:-Good value
-Frame can be set up for many different styles of riding (I use mine for FR and Urban)
Weaknesses:-I've seen on of these frames seperate where the swingarm meets the downtube.
Similar Products Used:Santa Cruz Heckler (Big $$$)

Bottom Line:This has been a great frame so far. A jack of all trades. If you get some really nice parts over time and then hook it up with the fifth element rear shock you can have a spectacular setup. I really only FR with mine for now but if need be it can deal with a XC ride. Having a psylo race up front also makes a huge change to this frame. Don't look at this bike if you are planning on XC racing, it is not intended for that (please dont cry about the weight is what I am saying) Big Huckers may want to up the ante as well ... Perhaps a Santa Cruz Bullit or the '04 Haro FR bikes coming out.

Price Paid: $990.00
Purchased At:Colorado Springs Bike Shop
Strengths:Good strong frame, killer brakes, rims, crankset, bars. overall great value for very minor cash.
Weaknesses:forks don't seem up to rest of bike,(just cracked lower fork tubes) flimsy front chainrings, and, although no problems yet, pedals are not great.
Similar Products Used:haro werks 1.0, couple of Raleigh piles?!
Bike Setup:Marzocchi Z.1 Freeride fork on the way, new pedals, and front chainrings on the way, salsa tooth fairy (too late)heavy duty inner tubes.
Bottom Line:I don't think for the money, you can touch this bike. good components where it matters,(mostly).Good cockpit (I'm 6ft, 165lbs). I typically do 3 to 4 ft. to flat dropoffs with a couple of 5 and 6ers in there, mostly rock and urban assault, and the fork has been the only victim so far. However it seems to me this fork is not a good match for this bike, and Marzocchi is hooking up a crash replacement discount, nice! Bent the front chainrings on my second ride. Although not a fan of going up hill, the x2 does ok, and that's coming from a hardtail. Good inexpensive bike for budding freeriders/downhillers, but not experienced big huckers. I would prefer something lighter (werks series) for xc, but i'm lazy!

Strengths:the price. for a full suspension bike its a good price, and im only 16 so 800 bucks is hard to come by. so far i have had very little problems. i like the frame alot and the way the bike rides. i ride alot of bmx and i know that haro has a pretty good reputation for bmx bikes so im shure there mountain bikes are good too
Weaknesses:bent the big chain ring. when i had the EXR fork it bottumed out alot and had way to much rebound also it was starting to leak oil, the rear shock is not the greatest.
Bike Setup:new fork DJ 3, pedals Primo's, chainrigs and guid Blackspire Dewlie, BB Raceface.
Bottom Line:overall this is a great bike to start out with and does not brake the bank, but you do get what you pay for. i think that if your not doing anything to crazy this is a great bike.

Duration Product Used:3 months
Price Paid: $930.00
Purchased At:Alpine Sports
Strengths:good value, strong frame, ok componets.
Weaknesses:I know you get what you pay for and this bike is less that $1000.00, but I guess I can list my gripes:
The fork - they market this bike as having 4" travel up front. This fork gets 3" max on big hits and has NO rebound damping. Soon to upgrade to a real fork.
The big chain ring - I bent the steel big ring on my first ride. I replaced that heavy p.o.s. with an aluminum one soon after.
Rear shock - Works fine but makes an odd "clunky" sound sometimes. It's probably not a problem, though.
I also don't like having the word EXTREME in bold letters on my bike. It is a silly marketing word that should not be used anymore.
Similar Products Used:I rode a Ti-Cycles Skookum for many years prior to this.
Bike Setup:New grips, new clipless peddles and that new chain ring are the only changes so far.
Bottom Line:I'm having a ball on this bike!
The brakes are great, the seat is ok, the shifters, handle bar and tires are fine and the rear suspension is working great for me.
In spite of my few gripes, I would recomend this bike to anybody looking for a low price trail bike.

Purchased At:Discovery Cycles
Strengths:Great components, great ground clearance (have yet to bash the chain ring), Marzocchi's are very stout and durable, price can't be argued with. Easily half what the next "up" bike costs. Handles my Clydesdale rear without complaint.
Weaknesses:So far none found. I have no gripes with the LX gearset. Maybe Haro could have offered a lifetime frame warranty instead of the 5 year, but who else does anymore?
Similar Products Used:Cannondale Jekyl 1000, Marin Rift Zone, Specialized Rockhopper FSR comp, Enduro FSR, Jamis Dakar XLT 1.0, Haro X3
Bike Setup:Besides changing out the stock 17.5 frame neck for the one on the 19 frame, it's all stock.
Bottom Line:I spent 6 months looking for my next bike. I rode each one listed above for at least a full day on the same trail before I decided on the X2. I narrowed the choices down to the Haro and the Jamis. I really liked the Jamis but could not justify the extra $600 for it. The Haro rode just as well (felt lighter too) and I have no regrets 3 months and 300 miles later. It still rides and looks like the day I rode it out of the shop. If you ride to ride and not to impress your friends with an expensive bike, there really isn't a better bike for anywhere near this price, IMO.

Strengths:Wheels , drivetrain (when adjusted properly) , bars , not all too heavy (15.5 frame) , the brakes are killer even with no break in time , rear shock is nice when set somewhat stiff , probably one of the best all mountain bikes under $1k
Weaknesses:Not too many , get the deurailers adjusted properly or it'll ghost shift like a mad man , pedals aren't that great
Similar Products Used:First full squish used
Bike Setup:stock
Bottom Line:Great solid bike , a few things could be changed due to personal opinion , but overall you get what you paid for . I've so far taken up to a 3.5 foot to flat and it handled it well , the rear shock didn't stick (as I've heard can happen) and the fork deffinitely didn't bottom out . The fork is extremely stiff , it needs a little break in time i've heard though (this is the exr comp with coils). So far the bike performs as expected , once it's realy broken in I'm gonna start with some 5 and 6 footers to tranny , that's about what the bike can handle in stock condition . However I'm thinking of putting a romic in the back and a z1 up front , that should up it's capabilities quite a bit . **bottom line** not for guys who do 25 footers or people who do 8 foot to flat drops , good for small freeride and some urban(keep in mind this is not a bullit with a super t up front) . Great for a kickass cross country rig that can take a thrashin' too . However , I'm 185 and 5'6' and it meets my skill set , and can be upgraded as needed . That's enough for me .

Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Price Paid: $830.00
Purchased At:Brand's Cycle
Strengths:The frame is solid - I was hesitant to get into full suspension, as I came up on nothing but hard tails and was wary of the mushier overall ride etc...but, I am thoroughly happy with this bike. The Avids are great so far, except I feel like I'm still in the throes of the dreaded "break-in period", but my confidence is high. The other reviews knock the rear susp. unit, but I feel it's effective, and does its job, although a Cane Creek Cloud9 may have a future on my rig. The frame (19.5) has a relaxed feel to it, and fits well out of the box - no need for new stem/bars/seatpost, as I've experienced in the past. Overall handling: it tracks well (longish wheelbase), and carves out the turns beautifully, where loading the susp. helps greatly. The Titec Hellbents are real stiff - good choice.
Weaknesses:The chainrings are crap - I wish raceface made rings for the 4-arm cranks(maybe they do?). The tires are thin - I've gotten 2 flats in 2 weeks, after years of no flats: get Mr.Tuffies. The fork (Marzocchi EXR Comp) is a pogo stick, having a bunch of travel and no damping at all, and little adjustment - it could also use a shorter fork to snap up steering around the tight stuff a bit. Weight........but people lift weights for a reason, so it isn't really a weakness, except that my rides have gotten a little shorter due to the excess baggage. Try not to take your wheels off too much with the Avids, as things tend to go soft if you do - I need to call them about that.
Similar Products Used:Jamis Dakar something, Cannondale Jekyll 500
Bike Setup:Stock '03 Army Green X2 19.5"
93 Haro Extreme Hardtail (the original)
Bottom Line:Initially, it's a lot of bike when you're walking up to it-it's tall in the front, long, and fat; but once you're on it and the ground is down there, all is good. I was really psyched to see Haro coming back to more conventional designs after the late 90's string of motorcross-looking sticker bikes.....the Extreme line is tremendous in terms of the amount of bike you get for the bread you're laying out. Although some of the parts are shoddy, that's the way they keep the price down, so deal with it.
As for those considering something else: give the bike a shot; granted it isn't the "cool" bike to have now (a la Cannondale/Ellsworth/Foes/blahblahblah), but I've been dealing with Haros for 12 years now, and they've never let me down. To boot, they're great people if you need to get them on the phone. And, It comes in Army Green - what else do I have to say?

Favorite Trail:Any Mt Crawford trails
Duration Product Used:Less than 1 month
Strengths:Very rideable to someone who is not a dual suspension rider (I currently race XC on an Avanti Aggressor Oz/NZ bike very similar to a Specialized Stumpjumper hardtail) - this thing goes up hills reasonably well before turning to descents. Handles nicely, but I am sure I will find it's limitations sometime soon. Purchased as something fun to do the occassional downhill run on and to improve my jumping for XC racing. Good looking in the "Army Green" version. Strong a reliable frame design. Comfortable and confidence inspiring - so far. Truvativ Firex and Shimano shift gear work well together. Avid mechanical disk brakes are great stoppers and buggered if I can see why anyone wants to fart arse around with hydraulics when these things are so easy to adjust and maintain especially out on the trail! Titec seat is comfortable.
Weaknesses:Weight, but this is more a reflection of what I'm used to and most of it seems to be contained in the Dual Duty WTB rims and Geax Volcano tyres. Would be the Marzocchi forks if they were still on it, but they have been swapped for Manitou Sherman Fireflys with 110-130mm travel, very smooth with great easy adjustment. The rear shock still needs upgrading with a heavier spring for my 90kg (you do the conversion to pounds!) and 6'2" frame and a complete shock upgrade may be in order sometime soon, I think a frame set up of this quality can warrant it. The paint does seem to chip/flake off a bit to readily for a bike that expects heavy use.
Similar Products Used:A Santa Cruz Heckler with 5th Element Shock, Fox 125 forks and XTR groupset - I should never have borrowed this bike for the weekend, I fear it has sent me spiralling on the slippery slope from XC racing to free riding and potential downhilling. Like the Haro, it is simplicity taken to it's best (just far better specced - it was like feeding truffles to a pig, I loved it, but was far from worthy). I'm glad I gave it back when I did and aimed my sights a bit lower at the X2.
Bike Setup:Manitou Sherman Firefly forks and Geax 26x2.6 Volcano tyres the only deviation from stock at this stage with a shock spring upgrade soon.
Bottom Line:My first dual suspension bike now joins the tangle of wheels and frames that comprise two hardtail XC bikes and a roadie in the spare room - and I love it. A good entry level bike for freeride and occasional downhill use, but probably not up to full on abuse with stock shock/forks (the X3 would be better or a gradual upgrade of the X2). It will take some getting used to, but I can punt it around an XC course as long as I take into account the weight, longer wheel base and wider bars. "What doesn't kill you ..........!" You get what you pay for and this bike delivers for what you see - if you want more, spend more.

Bottom Line:I live 5 min. from DuPont St. Forest so i ride 3 to 5 times a week. The bike seems to be very durable for my type of riding(heavy trail, jumping water breaks, ect).
