I had a 2000 GT I-drive 2.0 for about 3 years. I loved the way the bike rode, but it just seemed like this bike was jinxed for me. It started with the hubs...but anyway. I spent a year in Honduras and the last weekend there I pulled the bike out of the trunk of the taxi cab and assembled the bike...just to watch the weld at the seat mast fail right in front of me!! Needless to say..I was furious...but even more angry when I called pacific to have them inform me that they were no longer honoring warranty replacements. Long story short, Pacific advised me to find a dealer that would coordinate a "crash replacement" frame at a discounted price. Basically, I waited until I got to Japan and by luck I found a japanese GT dealer....who even spoke English!!! Anyway, I paid 450 for the replacement frame. This frame rocks...especially with the 5 inch travel fork. Also...the marzocchi was a great upgrade from the Psylo I was riding...bottom line....the GT I-drive is a GREAT aggresive XC design. The early frames SUCKED, but I took a look at the new frame and they significantly increased the tube thickness in the seat tube area. The general design hasn't changed much, but they did reinforce the points that needed it. | Value Rating: Overall Rating: |
